That's a neat little unit! Like the pointer lol! To answer your question about the numbers, pre 1965 they used a model type and SERIAL system much like they did on the older cast iron series so you are correct, that is not the date of manufacture. The problem is that the only way you can get an exact date is with specific briggs literature which I have yet to find anywhere online so for now all you can really say is early 60's maybe late 50's. If you say 1962 I don't think anyone would know but if you want to be exact about things there is a chance it isn't a 1962 but we don't really know.
Knew I could count on some good info from you Colin! After uploading, I found a site that says there should be some type of year marking on the flywheel. I may pull it apart in a few day and find out.
i got the same one. don't know much about it but i tried hooking it directly to my furnace and it seems it doesn't put out enough juice for that job. thanks for the video
The engine model on my particular unit is 80702. Although, it is possible that your unit may have a different engine model, type, or code number, which may use a different Carb than mine. The model number should be stamped into the side of the fly wheel cover.

@@MillsEngineWorks I know some of the older cast iron engines used that system, would be interesting to see if this one does too!

Did you find the engine model? I need to replace the carb on mine.
