TRIFLE WITH BEEF!? | Making Rachel's Beef Trifle From FRIENDS.

  • So today I thought I would attempt to make Rachel's famous beef trifle from the TV show Friends! And when I first saw this episode of Friends back in the day, I didn't think a beef trifle sounded that bad, I definitely took Joey's stance on all the ingredients being 'good', and he was right! Yes beef technically doesn't belong in a trifle, especially a sweet fruity trifle, but for some reason I thought it all went together! I feel like Rachel was ahead of the game, and possibly we should all start making our trifles with beef? But let me know your thoughts on this beef trifle that Rachel made on Friends, is it something you would enjoy? Or would you prefer a regular trifle?

It definitely got Abel's approval, but that also doesn't mean much! 😅😅

      It is confusing 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️😂🤣
😮 Wow ... nope not acceptable, brings everyone down when People act like that 🙄
Jam?? 🤔 I've not tried that before in a trifle. Yeah lady fingers at bottom, same flavoured jelly as fruit, custard, dream topping and sprinkles, fruit or other decorations on top.
I thought maybe you were doing a savoury trifle like Yorkshire pudding, horseradish sauce as that goes with beef, topped off with mashed potatoes 🤔
      😮😮😮 that's surprised me 🤣😂🤣😂

Since you asked! The unseasoned beef and the peas are safe for dogs, but dogs cannot eat onions - all parts of onion are toxic to doggos ~ hopefully all Abel got was a weird poop later, precious boy haha :D I had no idea what a trifle is so I had to look them up hahaha. This one looks a bit cursed by comparison to what I saw on google, but some fruits and berries go really well with meats so I bet thats okay! I'm not sure how I'd feel about the custard thoough

My mam is not known for her cooking skills, but she has cooked and served pizza baked in the oven, with the polystyrene base. One Christmas she made the epic error of forgetting which was the kids (alcohol free) trifle with the adults (laced with a bottle of best co-op sherry). Cue a gaggle of pissed up little boys😂😂😂😂😂

That's like when I used to make Christmas cakes. (BLEURGH! I hate them but made them for family and friends). Mine came with a warning: 'Don't eat cake and drive!' LOL xx

Growing up I had many trifles. My mom would start off making a sponge cake, which would be a disaster that she would then turn into a trifle. Also added lots of alcohol. Loved it of course!

I'd try it! I feel like the beef and veggies just get lost in all the sweets and so other than a potentially weird texture it would be fine!

At the start you were talking about people’s bad behaviour and I totally agree! I was at the supermarket and someone was wandering around the store shouting and banging on the doors to the back area, it legitimately scared me. Also I’ve noticed the kids that hang around Maccas have gotten ruder and more disruptive, it’s sad to see

Fruit and Meat together has historically gone hand in hand. Even the traditional Christmas mince pies had lamb mince in them with fruit and Christmas sweet spices and sugar.

I worked with a cook, who used different berries on his meat dishes, so I didn't find your trifle at all weird. I'm guessing, raspberries and blueberries would probably be the best on beef. Peach jam would be good for poultry and pork, I use marmalade for ease of use. I use to work at a psychiatric hospital, most of the clients (patients) who could work on the hospital grounds were hilarious, sometimes not intentional, swearing and sex lives conversations were a norm. Love the creativity of the channel.

I loved this video but I detest trifle. We have it here in Australia but that’s our British roots coming out. You don’t see it much now as you used to. Modern Aussie’s serve up Pavlova more often than trifle, although I do seem to remember it being a Christmas treat.
As for what Ant is calling “mincemeat” pies, that you have at Christmas, these are called minced pies because they are full of minced fruit, although originally I believe they did also contain some meat (watched too many historical farm documentaries 😂😂😂). I totally know how you feel about your aging pets, having lost one myself recently. It’s never something easy to cope with. Thankfully my remaining pets are 10 years and younger so I have a respite from losing my Venice’s snuggle buddies for a while longer. Have a great weekend everyone!!❤❤

This was a great idea Ant! I've always secretly wondered what Rachel's beef trifle tasted like, but I don't cook so I've never bothered to try, so I love that you did! I was just looking at your studio background & was wondering where the mini friend's picture frame went to....maybe I'm just not spotting it? Being from america I've never eaten a trifle, but i have family in the uk & am familiar with trifles. I think the closest we have here in Chicago is a whipped fruit and cream pie. Thank you for another amazing video! I hope you have a great weekend!

@jenjenv.t.7602 Oh I still have it in the studio, it's just on the top shelf so might be hidden from view 😅😅 Oh trifle is a proper traditional British dessert, reminds me of my childhood! Also they usually have loads of booze in too 😆😆 Ah and no problem, hope you have a great weekend too! 😊😊

@lynneewer Sorry for accidentally replying to your comment Lynne! I found your comment really interesting and apparently wasn't paying attention to where I hit reply to leave Anthony a comment! Pavlova looks amazing!!! I'm so sorry you lost a beloved pet recently! My cat is ancient, almost 21, so I worry all the time! I'm glad you've got some younger fur babies to love 😻🐶🐕🐈 have a great weekend!

@@jenjenv.t.7602 no worries. Pavlova IS amazing especially with real whipped cream and not the canned stuff. It’s loaded with sugar to the the egg white stiff though and now I’m diabetic it’s a no go zone for me.

Undercooked pork in the past used to cause worms but in modern times many chefs will cook particular cuts of pork slightly under as getting worms from undercooked pork is very low risk - of course the pork these chefs use is high grade, excellent husbandry sources and Butchers so it's very unlikely get worms. But from supermarkets - I'll do exactly what you said as you don't know where or how the meat was processed so from supermarket alway cook well. This is from a UK stand point as I've seen many Americans kick off a European chefs making raw meat dishes or eating raw cake batter - this is fine in the UK to do. Of course there are exceptions to the rule as with everything nowadays 😂

When I think of trifle, meat and onions etc are not what I'm thinking of. But, I guess it's the dessert version of salad...like fruit salad as opposed to salad with tomatoes and lettuce etc. You can choose what goes in them, like ingredients on a pizza! (Pizza just means pie).
You're upto the Savoy fingers now and I'm thinking you're mixing a jelly & cream trifle with meat 🤢🤮🤢🤮 Is this another 70s recipe? xx
Oh yeah, you did mention Friends....say no more! 😂

Probably a confusion between mincemeat and minced meat, in terms of how it's written, not a lot of difference, but they sure are very different.
