Born in the Bronx raised in Jersey, I always identified as Coolie. It wasn't until I was in my mid 30s did I even hear the phrase, "Indo-Carribean".
I know what that lady felt when she said someone asked her if she was sure she was Guyanese 🇬🇾

In Guadeloupe there is a huge Indian population however as many Guadeloupeans have Indian in them and Indian culture was creolised in the French Caribbean most just see themselves as West Indian.
