Totally agree... this entitlement that we are owed into public figures health and personal lives is so invasive. We wouldn't people at our jobs in ours so why do we think we are owed info. This culture is really becoming viscious. Just glad he's ok.

He looks shattered and emotionally exhausted. Like some here said already - he owes us nothing - he does not have to explain. I do wish him a speedy and complete recovery - may he find peace, trust and comfort.
Yes he looks really shook, like this has left him traumatized. I think he would have been better off just staying quiet because this appearance is causing even more speculation. For those who are saying it's his choice, his business to keep it private then why not do exactly that. I always admired and respected the late Paul Newman and why he never gave out his autograph to fans. He said, very nicely, that he owes the public a good performance so they get their money's worth when they buy a movie ticket. But, he doesn't owe them his personal life. I couldn't agree more. Jamie doesn't owe anyone any kind of explanation about his illness. Period. A simple thank you to his fans for their well-wishes is all that's necessary.
At the end of Jaime’s video the same phrase really struck me too, Spidey. I absolutely believe that he must have faced something that either was serious enough to make him start thinking about his own mortality, or he literally came close to dying and that’s why he had such a need for secrecy. Whatever it was, it seems to me that he didn’t want it to mar his chosen legacy - positivity, humor, entertainment. At the beginning of the video he also mentioned that he was wondering if he would make it. ❤

hey. I need to say thank you real quick. I had something really traumatic happen in Jan of this year. When you were explaining about the nostril flaring and how the body is trying to figure out how to survive. It hit me hard because I realized I really need to be more gentle with myself. Truly. She's just trying to figure out how to survive this, and my job is to stop berating myself for my human emotions. I'm sad that I needed to have this revelation, but I know it's all a part of the journey. Gentle. ❤
Last July I had a 3rd stroke (bleed) I had to wait an he for an ambulance and then another 45mins to go. I was in hospital for 4mths with feeding tube in my nose re re learning to walk and speak. It’s been 10mths out and still learning to walk and talk. Until you go through something like traumatic brain injury you can’t imagine what it’s like. I thought I was going to die but my kids and fiancé got me through it. My fiancé came over from America to England to take care of me and my mum from Spain. I’m lucky and blessed 💓💛💓 xx
I am also a survivor of ABI or TBI, whichever ppl prefer. I had a series of mini strokes or aneurysms in left parts of my brain and was paralysed down L side and had to learn to walk n talk etc. I was in a ward heading to palliative care. I was on holiday to a small place where I was born but no one even came. The head dr or highest educate was a paediatric respiratory specialist, no neurologist there, he had died and hadn't been replace yet. She whispered in my ear "Get a ticket home NOW" . I'll never be the same and its a worry forever, especially on a bad day. I've started having bilance and strengrh issues so need to swim, that's about all I can do.
Wow I’m so sorry! But so happy you are here to tell your story. My mother just fell and was bleeding profusely on several spots on her head and it took me 15 minutes to even get through to 911 and then the same 45 minutes till they arrived. 😢

I’m an older woman but I’ve had health problems for years. I have in the past and now refer to how I want to be remembered. If I felt I had been close to death or now when I worry because I don’t feel well, I think about how life is short. Health scares change you and I feel Jamie might be thinking about how much he’s changed and how scared it was. I lost lots of friends years ago when my health became an issue as I wasn’t the same person. Losing a part of yourself changes everything and being that he’s still recovering, he probably doesn’t know how he will be in the future. I know those feelings and I don’t need to know what he went through to empathize with him. Navigating life is tough for everyone, especially when we are in a struggle. I like to minimize what my problems are as I don’t want for others to see me differently and I’m not famous or known by many. Thanks for the analysis and sending good vibes for complete healing.
I had a stroke at 37 brain bleed at 40 so I get it. All we have is this moment when you really think about it. We are constantly looking back and forward, don't forget to appreciate this moment. Its all you got. I don't worry about my health, I did, what's the point. I'm a fatalistic though, I honestly believe we have a day we are born and one we die on regardless.

Yeah but it's way too much speculation. The man had a stroke and they wanted to keep it quiet, it's not good for an action star. The information was kind of put out a while back. If someone has a stroke they will also appear to act a little different and in Jamie's case, and most of others it happened to, it puts age on the person. He clearly looks older.

Yup and if you noticed Jamie moves each eye individually and says "the eyes are working" so i replayed his movies, tv shows, stand ups etc and NOT once did he ever move his eyes individually. Only 5% of the world can do that with proper eye training.

Let's be honest here. He fucked up and appologised, for makimg a misleading statement. That should be the end of it. Personally, I chose to believe, that he didn't mean to blame the jews. If he did, that would indeed be abhorrent, but it just doesn't fit with the rest of his public life. Technically speaking the Romans killed Jesus and essential for that was the betrayal by his close friend. On that basis alone, a reasonable person, should not associate the sentenve with jews, but...and there is a big but. That sentence was used for anti jewish propaganda for centuries. Therefor it is reasonable to read it that way. I get that a fan always tends to defend their idol, especially when they see the wolfs circling them. However, Jamie acknowledged the blunder himself, retracted the statement and clarified, what he meant. There is no need to defent the post. Pretending, that you can only misunderstand it, if you try, is disengenious at best and delusional at worst. His apology and clarification, can stand on their own and should suffice. One can defend that and insist, that it is Jamies honest position, if people try hounding him for the previous post. That is absolutely ok. Denying there was an issue in the first place instead, is neithercalled for, helpful or reasonable. The adage is used by Black folks in reference to being treated poorly by anyone. The adage is not directed at any particular religious group or other group of people. Foxx needs to retract his apology. There was absolutely nothing to apologize for. Foxx never used the word “Jewish” or “Jew.” This adage has absolutely nothing to do with antisemitism and folks who state it does are asinine and don’t know history. He was absolutely was filled with pride that his family closed ranks-“They protected me.” They protected him from the media. They protected him from distraction. They gave him an environment of love-including passing on the loving sentiments of well wishers-while he figured stuff out for himself. He talks about going to hell and back. Then he uses another very telling phrase, “My road to recovery.” This is extremely all encompassing when you consider that he says his road has had a lot of potholes. He doesn’t specify what physical condition caused an hospitalization where he was close to death, but he is pretty forward about it being a direct result of this betrayal by a friend. Pull out the stuffing, and the dots are already connected.

(Warning: extremly speculative) Could also be a mental illness. Maybe he had a psychotic episode and his personality changed in that time. That also could be a reason why he made that strange post. I have some experience of my own so i'm very biased but also it looks just too familiar. Maybe he meant by the "remembered" statement that his personality might could change and not that he dies and we should remember him as he was and not as he might becomes. It's also an extremely difficult topic to talk about so that might explains the vagueness. To me he also looks like he doesn't really understands it himself whats happening. Fits to a mental problem too. And he doesn't look phisically ill to me or like he had an accident.

I'll admit I've never been Jamie's biggest fan, but I absolutely respect his wish for privacy in what was clearly a traumatic time in his life, and I think it's also honourable to want to only put out positivity and not want to spread pain or start a pity party.

I’m pretty sure it was a fentanyl OVerdose. He’s keeping it quiet and silent and hesitant and also kinda an embarrassed demeanor in the video and embarrassed but thankful family came there for him.

I'm not sure if people are more sensitive nowadays. Maybe they just feel safe to say that they feel hurt or attacked or discriminated by some thoughtlessly spoken words. This is certainly true for me. When I was younger, I was annoyed when people said by misogynist things, but when I said, that this was offensive I got ridiculed, because society was misogynist, and it was the society consensus that misogynist statements were ok. So I said nothing, but I was still annoyed about it. But today, it is safe to speak up against such things. And I think it is a good thing to say that. So we all can learn to be more careful and not hurt somebody else's feelings with the things we say.
I think people try to dissect because everyone is being lied to and they know they are being lied to so they are trying to figure out what is going on by any means necessary.

The problem with written word is that it can be taken out of context, especially by those who aren't well read. In this case, some people need to study their history before they cry foul. So lesson 1: When you are cryptic, there is a chance that you are misinterpreted. And the other thing is, that lots of people blame the jews for the killing of Jesus. Whether this is true or not (and I agree with you that this is NOT true) - jews are often accused of that, and I do understand they are sensitive about that. If I was permanently accused and harrassed for something I didn't do (and something that happened 200 years ago...) I would be sensitive too. So "learning your history" also applies to that: Know these antisemitic lies that are propagated. So Jamie was right to apologize, and to delete this tweet (or whatever it was), and I believe him that he did not intend to offend jews, and his choice of words was just a bit thoughtless. So some Jews did play a part in it and weren't blameless. However, it's ridiculous to blame a whole nation of people for an act that was done by just a few (who were mainly fearful of losing their influence over the people at the time.) I told his dad, who excused his son instead of apologizing or trying to make it right. I talked to other moms in the group and they agreed with me. Since he wouldnt deal with it personally, i sent out a whatsapp message, in general, without any names or specifics, saying, "please encourage your sons to be more careful in close contact with the girls in our group." I hoped he would get the message that way. He got mad and took his son out of the group, teaching him the lesson of not respecting others and running from problems. It was probably unintentional, but he continued after being warned. My point is sometimes sharing personally doesnt seem like it is enough. U feel like u want more support. Feels like a deeply spiritual experience, borne from a probable near-death that has possibly traumatised him. He speaks of not knowing if he was going to make it. Of going to Hell and back. And that he is ultimately here because God wants him to be here. I sense that he means all of this literally, within the inexplicability of his spiritual experience. I think that the whole not wanting to tell what happened may be related to him learning to navigate his new "normal". A close encounter with the grim reaper can force you to face your own mortality in a way that doesnt occur before. It can also leave lasting mental and physical difficulties that you have to adjust to. It can be daunting, depressing and exhilarating all in one rather morbid package. I know from my personal experience, it took me a long time to adjust and accept what had happened x

Yeah, his new normal is, he became a part of the Hollywood elite. He got told he HAD to get the jab, he didn't want to, but was told if he wanted to make the movie he was in that he better. A tactical thing to do to see if they could control him. It worked, he's handled now. So sad.

He's undeniably different from before. His mannerisms, his subdued expression, his lips are even slightly imbalanced when speaking as his mouth's left side compared to the right side, his eyes aren't "connecting" with the camera, seems a bit breathless, etc.
Being indoors and emaciated could absolutely change a person's appearance quite a bit, especially with a person with typically dark skin, when it's lightened they look very different. It's a lot about how light retracts off the skin. I'm half native and in the winter I'm white as fuck, and then just weeks in the summer sun I look mexican

Not even for a second did I think he was being anti-sematic, he literally says in his instagram post that he thanks GOD for his health, that he's grateful for the PRAYERS, also talks about love and appreciation, it felt like people were looking for drama where there was none. He just chose the wrong words but personally I saw right away that it was about fake friends and feeling betrayed, he even hashtag it. Its none of our business what his health condition is, he deserves his privacy. When he talked about how he wanted to be remembered it did make me wonder if he has a chronic condition or if it was because of how close he got to death. I want to explain, for those who don't understand, why "They killed Jesus" is considered an anti-semitic statement. It has long been used as a justification for the hatred and even genocide of Jewish people. Here's an example from wikipedia: Hitler biographer John Toland offers the opinion that Hitler "carried within him its teaching that the Jew was the killer of God. The extermination, therefore, could be done without a twinge of conscience since he was merely acting as the avenging hand of God ..."

Personally I think it was alcohol or drugs related I agree if it was heart or stroke or natural medical condition or cancer he would just say but there seems to be shame tied to the need for privacy which leads me to believe it's some sort of substance abuse that led to medical complications

With Ivs and all the other things they may have gave him it will clear his skin up. I got really sick like that we are the same color thru & thru and I was so pale my mom said my lips looked blue i rmbr everyone who came to see me saying omg your skin is so light ( meaner lighter brown ). It’s scary I seen pictures of me and I still have no words.

I agree with you on this. In his whole public life and what little that has been posted about his private life, he has always been about being positive, helping people of all races and nationalities. Making a statement like he did was made from hurt and not thought. Thank you for covering this. One thing you did say that rang a bell was that he is avoiding exactly what put him in the hospital and focusing on laughter and clowning. @nancythomas1954 Except Robin Williams didn't know what diagnosis was going on. Yes he was told it was Parkinson disease. HOWEVER he never mentally got that. Because he couldn't remember. With Parkinson, bad enough to cause Dementia, he would-could not have been working, which he was. They didn't change his diagnosis until after the 2nd autopsy. His wife knew it wasn't Parkinson. So she asked one of the top Neurologist who did autopsy if he would do it. To confirm a diagnosis. That is when he found the Lewy Body Dementia. It can only be diagnosed at autopsy. Nothing, no tests Can show it. And that top Neurologist said from as advanced as Robin's was, he was astounded that Robin was even responding to anything. He should have been a vegetative state.
Wow, this was hard to watch. Jamie, from what I have seen of him, wears his heart on his sleeve. He has clearly been through a life altering experience not just for himself, but also his family. The moments he looked away, during teary remembrance, I could see and feel everything...I Know it well. It is an extremely intense and personal journey. Other's cannot understand the depths of it unless they themselves have experienced something similar. He is wise to not share the medical condition, nor should he ever. Human condition 101: blame the victim or make them your cause. He doesn't need that, his family doesn't need that, no one needs that. A mortal being almost dies and the crowd shows up to create their own entertainment. Disheartening. Always in extreme situations, we see who are our truest friend's are. We find out what family we have, or do not have. All of it can be a very painful process to top off everything else one is already processing and recovering from. My heart and positive thoughts go out to him and his family. I actually feel bad for even watching this. I know he put this out there but it was because of pressure. He is still healing from serious trauma.

Someone mentioned _"Living Color"_ in a comment, a show not broadcasted in France at its time - a search quickly popped it on my "to watch" list. His Instagram video made him immediately likeable to me. To my senses, either Jamie Foxx is a formidable actor in the greatest performance of his carrier, or simply a good, honest and respectful person I'd share a drink anytime with. Either way, the tone and wording of _your_ comment, @HeazViejaWhitney, and those of so many other responding to Spidey’s video led me to notice that the community around @TheBehavioralArts channel is choke full of genuine empathy by curious and open-minded people. By the nature of his craft, Spidey sees beyond the seemingly obvious messages behind a social media video. His prudent and humble attitude is to me a very good reminder not to label people, not to assume at first sight, not to let my emotions taint my reason - a masterclass in side-stepping and judgment-suspension. I am glad to see his followers appear to express the same reserve and show a similar empathy to our favorite teacher here 🙇♀

He is raising to our attention some of the signs in Jamie Foxx’s expressions, their potential meanings, and is putting the entire video through another perspective. Spidey is precisely reminding us that the media circus around Jamie Foxx’s personal affairs is not only murky and uncalled for but is also misleading the public to very weird conclusions nobody should be able to make. Spidey himself repeats that he, and we, do not know anything - and this is very aligned with Mr Foxx’s attitude: he does not say (much) about his actual medical condition, and in a dignified, calm, and simple way, getting short of an understandable _“leave me and my family alone”_ statement. I totally respect Jamie Foxx’s request for privacy, and really liked how he so simply expressed it. Although I did not witness that particular media frenzy, I salute Spidey’s calls for temperance and respect for Jamie Foxx’s will. I think you do too. Maybe I misinterpreted your message, but at its core, I read the same disgust I have for those “news” channels that feel entitled to say pretty much anything about anybody as long as it brings viewership. Please accept my apologies if I misread your point of view. I do not think I misread Spidey’s.
@@bnhamiltonwhat’s sad is people shouldn’t be ashamed of health issues… there’s this whole movement about mental health awareness which in some ways has reduced stigma and it’s strange the same doesn’t apply to other health challenges. People hide what they are judged about. People shouldn’t be judged for health issues and celebrity openness (for those who are brave enough to face judgement) can help reduce stigma.
Not many things are more personal than our medical care. From personal experience, I know that a medical trauma can be quite difficult to talk about. I wish him the very best and a continued strong recovery.
Many people feel threatened by illness, particularly if they are public persons: there is always some stigma going around various illnesses that remains associated with the person's name and often eclipses everything else they have done (to reconnect with "i want to be remembered" concept). Illness also makes you extremely vulnerable and a lot of people do not want to expose their vulnerability when they are the most fragile. I was also caught by surprise when he said "I want to be remembered", but then he says " the jokes I crack and the movies I make" - present tense. So i really think that he doesn't want his public persona associated with anything else than his career.
I’m not sure he’s out of the woods yet. He still looks unwell, a bit scared and fiercely protective of his private family life. Plus that remember me comment sounded so sad. I hope he gets back to his old self soon
Actors should not be forced to censor themselves on social media. He has a right to say these things that other regular people say. But instead he has to apologize for calling fake friends out without naming them?? And then feels obligated to put out a statement regarding his health. It is none of our business. I hope he not only heals but gets stronger.

His comment “They killed Jesus, what do you think they’ll do to you?” Is a common figure of speech among African Americans. It just means if people have an issue with someone who was considered perfect then you should expect people to have an issue with you, someone who’s far from perfect. It’s never said with antisemitism in mind, just a figure of speech. However I can understand how people who aren’t familiar with AAVE or common black phrases may interpret it.

I’ve always loved Jamie Foxx and it seems like he really is a kind and caring person. Glad he’s recovering and it is his choice whether to tell the whole world about illness or not and I don’t blame him for not. That must be exhausting. As for the post I understand I guess why people would feel attacked but if they would just think before posting or not be so sensitive they might have seen through it. I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your non-biased analysis of this video. We need more people not jumping on the race train everytime somebody says something. People need to stop throwing the racism accusation around so carelessly. True racism is not to be tolerated, but looking for racism everywhere and throwing out accusations and condemning people without evidence is dangerous, and it isn't helping anyone. People need to stop being overly sensitive and acting morally superior all the time. Nobody is perfect. That doesn't make them a racist.

I went to Catholic school and also taught religious education later on. We definitely did not teach antisemitism. So that is why my mind did not go there. But, I do see your point. So I've watched a bunch of this guy's videos now and I feel confident I can summarize all future videos he'll ever make: There's a bunch of this going on and a bunch of that going on and that's the baseline but we can't say anything definitively so you make up your mind. There you go.
He sees this secret as a form of self-preservation, which might suggest that he fears he would somehow be negatively affected by people knowing what happened. He also persists on his desire to stay in people’s minds as someone happy and funny. Then he goes and says that he’s slowly going back to being like that again. Adding all that to the relevant expressed emotion in this clip and to the negative outlook of the world he expressed on that poorly worded post (feelings on betrayal, friendship lost, despair), I can’t help but feel like whatever happened to him might have to do with mental disease. Perhaps he was severely depressed and tried to hurt himself? I don’t know. But whatever it was that happened, I absolutely agree that we should respect his desire for privacy. I hope he gets well soon.
I agree with the notes that you have made on his phrasing, but also know that strokes often cause depression. In fact, people who have tiny mini-strokes frequently are only diagnosed after they suddenly experience depression and start looking into the reasons why.
Looking at him now, he doesn’t seem to be himself. Whatever it is that happened, he appears to be still dealing with it. I hope he is able to take the time to really heal. Wishing him the best and thanking him for the years he has given to entertaining all of us.

It was a stroke, the information is out there I saw it one time. And that makes perfect sense. This super long video and specculation is to make this content creator money (Behavoial Arts) money.
Words are powerful. I can understand how he would want to focus on health, the positive to bring more positive into his life. Talking about illness would feel vulnerable, draining. I’d want my privacy, would want to conserve my energy and for people to focus on the positive. Opening up to people who aren’t close to me, who could run with the information to hurt me, my family or just project negativity, wouldn’t be my choice.
That I choose to bare my soul repeatedly for the sake of art and entertainment does not morally oblige me to share my personal life. I trust you agree. The focus of speculators, audience and industry alike, speaks only to the current social poverty of maturity and compassion, and a current ravenous appetite for both negative conjecture, accusation and condemnation. Don't you think jamie Foxx had a stroke because that makes sense. They take time to reccover from too. Mr. Foxx didn't want to put that information out at the time but in my opinion he should have.
Thank you for this analysis. What you didn't mention as to why Jamie said "I want you to remember me for ...." is that he has some lingering illness or he's not able to do some of the things he used to do. As you can see he looks very thin and not like his normal healthy self. I of course hope that isn't the case and that he makes a full recovery and back to his old self as quickly as possible. I think we all love Jamie Fox and wish him well. He doesn't owe us anything but I'm sure glad to see him talking!

I caught the "I want to be remembered" comment too followed by the "I'm here because God wants me here," message. I wondered if he takes pride in being okay and happy and that whatever he went through was such a powerful display of his own weakness as a human (maybe because he almost died) that he doesn't want to share that with the public. I'm also surprised that he doesn't come out and share that he nearly died (if that was the case) because while that is incredibly personal, I believe that with the support to celebrities who have near death experiences (such as Jeremy Renner), it would have been a "safe" comment. My bias definitely leans towards the possibility of a suicide crisis because he may believe it would fully shatter him as an entertainer taking the death of Robin Williams as an example. It's hard for me to break free of that bias when watching this video. So I instead try to stay aware of it while I watch and consider other possibilities. At the end of the day, all we can know is what others choose to share, and it's really not our business to know more unless they want to share it. Sidenote: I find myself watching peoples eyebrows in just about every video now.
Unfortunately, and I don't know where to place it, suicide and/or drug addiction tend to be the reasons why different celebrities' die. I've heard it said that Hollywood or the illuminati are out to get celebrities' while others say they are involved in a satanic cult and sold their souls.
That didn't even cross my mind but we're seeing it more and more with celebrities. That's a very valid opinion and would definitely explain why no one has even slipped up in saying too much. Even people that he works with (manager, agent, house keepers, chauffeurs, etc)have been very quiet about it. Usually magazines get ahold of "a source" and info gets leaked. So yeah, that definitely is a valid assumption.

I was diagnosed with GBS in 2016, I went blind and paralyzed from the Flu Vaccine I was in the hospital for almost 2 months and it took me 2 years to be able to walk with just a cane
All I care about is that he is still here. I go to great lengths to keep what is really happening with me to myself. My closest can know or guess, others just don't know even if they've bothered to look up the advanced stages of my disease. Having said that, if Jamie chooses not to tell all, I totally get it & that's his right & if like me, it's a coping mechanism too. What are your thoughts on that?

In this day and age anything you say becomes an interview question forever. If he says what actually happened people will think what they think and he can’t put the rabbit back in the hat. And they boosted him with earpieces and so on until it reached a point where the Aphasia was evident. So if someone like Jamie said that they had a stroke, they might lose out on job possibilities
Also the simple fact that your medical chart is quite literally protected by law. It is no one's business and the fact people think they are owed this info simply because they are nosey and want to weigh in with their opinion is appalling. I noticed immediately that comment about "remember me". That is so off and it made me feel like he sees his mortality and brush with death as a distinct possibility sooner than he imagined. Also, lets face it, he is bought and paid for by Hollywood and even if he wanted to tell his audience what really happened, he can't, no way. The social media comment smacked of distraction to me at least and was so strange yet typical at the same time with "important" people in Hollywood, politics or sports.
He wants to remain anonymous on his road to recovery, as he says…he was somewhere he never thought he would be. His business…hopefully he continues to feel the support he obviously appreciates. Yes he looks really shook, like this has left him traumatized. I think he would have been better off just staying quiet because this appearance is causing even more speculation. I always admired and respected the late Paul Newman and why he never gave out his autograph to fans. At the end of Jaime’s video the same phrase really struck me too, Spidey. I absolutely believe that he must have faced something that either was serious enough to make him start thinking about his own mortality, or he literally came close to dying and that’s why he had such a need for secrecy. Whatever it was, it seems to me that he didn’t want it to mar his chosen legacy - positivity, humor, entertainment. hey. I need to say thank you real quick. I had something really traumatic happen in Jan of this year. When you were explaining about the nostril flaring and how the body is trying to figure out how to survive. It hit me hard because I realized I really need to be more gentle with myself. Truly. She's just trying to figure out how to survive this, and my job is to stop berating myself for my human emotions. I'm sad that I needed to have this revelation, but I know it's all a part of the journey. Gentle. ❤
Last July I had a 3rd stroke (bleed) I had to wait an he for an ambulance and then another 45mins to go. I was in hospital for 4mths with feeding tube in my nose re re learning to walk and speak. It’s been 10mths out and still learning to walk and talk. Until you go through something like traumatic brain injury you can’t imagine what it’s like. I thought I was going to die but my kids and fiancé got me through it. My fiancé came over from America to England to take care of me and my mum from Spain. I’m lucky and blessed 💓💛💓 xx

I am also a survivor of ABI or TBI, whichever ppl prefer. I had a series of mini strokes or aneurysms in left parts of my brain and was paralysed down L side and had to learn to walk n talk etc. I was in a ward heading to palliative care. I was on holiday to a small place where I was born but no one even came. The head dr or highest educate was a paediatric respiratory specialist, no neurologist there, he had died and hadn't been replace yet. She whispered in my ear "Get a ticket home NOW" . I'll never be the same and its a worry forever, especially on a bad day. I've started having bilance and strengrh issues so need to swim, that's about all I can do.

I’m an older woman but I’ve had health problems for years. I have in the past and now refer to how I want to be remembered. If I felt I had been close to death or now when I worry because I don’t feel well, I think about how life is short. Health scares change you and I feel Jamie might be thinking about how much he’s changed and how scared it was. I lost lots of friends years ago when my health became an issue as I wasn’t the same person. Losing a part of yourself changes everything and being that he’s still recovering, he probably doesn’t know how he will be in the future. I know those feelings and I don’t need to know what he went through to empathize with him. Navigating life is tough for everyone, especially when we are in a struggle. I like to minimize what my problems are as I don’t want for others to see me differently and I’m not famous or known by many. Thanks for the analysis and sending good vibes for complete healing.
I had a stroke at 37 brain bleed at 40 so I get it. All we have is this moment when you really think about it. We are constantly looking back and forward, don't forget to appreciate this moment. If someone has a stroke they will also appear to act a little different and in Jamie's case, and most of others it happened to, it puts age on the person. He clearly looks older.

Yup and if you noticed Jamie moves each eye individually and says "the eyes are working" so i replayed his movies, tv shows, stand ups etc and NOT once did he ever move his eyes individually. Only 5% of the world can do that with proper eye training.

The adage is used by Black folks in reference to being treated poorly by anyone. The adage is not directed at any particular religious group or other group of people.
Foxx needs to retract his apology. There was absolutely nothing to apologize for. Foxx never used the word “Jewish” or “Jew.” This adage has absolutely nothing to do with antisemitism and folks who state it does are asinine and don’t know history. It is white folks that have appropriated this adage as referring to Jewish people. This is absolutely not the meaning that African Americans have appropriated to the adage for generations.

(Warning: extremly speculative) Could also be a mental illness. Maybe he had a psychotic episode and his personality changed in that time. That also could be a reason why he made that strange post. I have some experience of my own so i'm very biased but also it looks just too familiar. Maybe he meant by the "remembered" statement that his personality might could change and not that he dies and we should remember him as he was and not as he might becomes. It's also an extremely difficult topic to talk about so that might explains the vagueness. To me he also looks like he doesn't really understands it himself whats happening. Fits to a mental problem too. And he doesn't look phisically ill to me or like he had an accident.

I'll admit I've never been Jamie's biggest fan, but I absolutely respect his wish for privacy in what was clearly a traumatic time in his life, and I think it's also honourable to want to only put out positivity and not want to spread pain or start a pity party.

I'm not sure if people are more sensitive nowadays. Maybe they just feel safe to say that they feel hurt or attacked or discriminated by some thoughtlessly spoken words. This is certainly true for me. When I was younger, I was annoyed when people said by misogynist things, but when I said, that this was offensive I got ridiculed, because society was misogynist, and it was the society consensus that misogynist statements were ok. So I said nothing, but I was still annoyed about it. But today, it is safe to speak up against such things. And I think it is a good thing to say that. So we all can learn to be more careful and not hurt somebody else's feelings with the things we say.

I talked to other moms in the group and they agreed with me.
Since he wouldnt deal with it personally, i sent out a whatsapp message, in general, without any names or specifics, saying, "please encourage your sons to be more careful in close contact with the girls in our group."

I think that the whole not wanting to tell what happened may be related to him learning to navigate his new "normal". A close encounter with the grim reaper can force you to face your own mortality in a way that doesnt occur before. It can also leave lasting mental and physical difficulties that you have to adjust to. It can be daunting, depressing and exhilarating all in one rather morbid package. I know from my personal experience, it took me a long time to adjust and accept what had happened x

He's undeniably different from before. His mannerisms, his subdued expression, his lips are even slightly imbalanced when speaking as his mouth's left side compared to the right side, his eyes aren't "connecting" with the camera, seems a bit breathless, etc.

With Ivs and all the other things they may have gave him it will clear his skin up. I got really sick like that we are the same color thru & thru and I was so pale my mom said my lips looked blue i rmbr everyone who came to see me saying omg your skin is so light ( meaner lighter brown ). It’s scary I seen pictures of me and I still have no words.

I agree with you on this. In his whole public life and what little that has been posted about his private life, he has always been about being positive, helping people of all races and nationalities. Making a statement like he did was made from hurt and not thought. Thank you for covering this. One thing you did say that rang a bell was that he is avoiding exactly what put him in the hospital and focusing on laughter and clowning. That like most of us, he wants to keep his private life private and it reminded me of Robin Williams. Thanks for going over this Spidey.

Except Robin Williams didn't know what diagnosis was going on. Yes he was told it was Parkinson disease. HOWEVER he never mentally got that. Because he couldn't remember. With Parkinson, bad enough to cause Dementia, he would-could not have been working, which he was. They didn't change his diagnosis until after the 2nd autopsy. His wife knew it wasn't
Parkinson. So she asked one of the top Neurologist who did autopsy if he would do it. To confirm a diagnosis. That is when he found the Lewy Body Dementia. It can only be diagnosed at autopsy. Nothing, no tests Can show it. And that top Neurologist said from as advanced as Robin's was, he was astounded that Robin was even responding to anything. He should have been a vegetative state.
Wow, this was hard to watch. Jamie, from what I have seen of him, wears his heart on his sleeve. He has clearly been through a life altering experience not just for himself, but also his family. The moments he looked away, during teary remembrance, I could see and feel everything...I Know it well. It is an extremely intense and personal journey. Other's cannot understand the depths of it unless they themselves have experienced something similar.
He is wise to not share the medical condition, nor should he ever. Human condition 101: blame the victim or make them your cause. He doesn't need that, his family doesn't need that, no one needs that.
A mortal being almost dies and the crowd shows up to create their own entertainment. Disheartening.
Always in extreme situations, we see who are our truest friend's are. We find out what family we have, or do not have. All of it can be a very painful process to top off everything else one is already processing and recovering from.
My heart and positive thoughts go out to him and his family. I actually feel bad for even watching this. I know he put this out there but it was because of pressure. He is still healing from serious trauma.

I did not know about Jamie Foxx, only vaguely remembered he was an actor. Someone mentioned _"Living Color"_ in a comment, a show not broadcasted in France at its time - a search quickly popped it on my "to watch" list.
His Instagram video made him immediately likeable to me. To my senses, either Jamie Foxx is a formidable actor in the greatest performance of his carrier, or simply a good, honest and respectful person I'd share a drink anytime with.

People hide what they are judged about. People shouldn’t be judged for health issues and celebrity openness (for those who are brave enough to face judgement) can help reduce stigma.

Many people feel threatened by illness, particularly if they are public persons: there is always some stigma going around various illnesses that remains associated with the person's name and often eclipses everything else they have done (to reconnect with "i want to be remembered" concept). Illness also makes you extremely vulnerable and a lot of people do not want to expose their vulnerability when they are the most fragile.
I was also caught by surprise when he said "I want to be remembered", but then he says " the jokes I crack and the movies I make" - present tense. So i really think that he doesn't want his public persona associated with anything else than his career.

Actors should not be forced to censor themselves on social media. He has a right to say these things that other regular people say. But instead he has to apologize for calling fake friends out without naming them?? And then feels obligated to put out a statement regarding his health. It is none of our business. His comment “They killed Jesus, what do you think they’ll do to you?” Is a common figure of speech among African Americans. It just means if people have an issue with someone who was considered perfect then you should expect people to have an issue with you, someone who’s far from perfect. It’s never said with antisemitism in mind, just a figure of speech. However I can understand how people who aren’t familiar with AAVE or common black phrases may interpret it.

I’ve always loved Jamie Foxx and it seems like he really is a kind and caring person. Glad he’s recovering and it is his choice whether to tell the whole world about illness or not and I don’t blame him for not. That must be exhausting. I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your non-biased analysis of this video. We need more people not jumping on the race train everytime somebody says something. People need to stop throwing the racism accusation around so carelessly. True racism is not to be tolerated, but looking for racism everywhere and throwing out accusations and condemning people without evidence is dangerous, and it isn't helping anyone. I went to Catholic school and also taught religious education later on. We definitely did not teach antisemitism. So that is why my mind did not go there. But, I do see your point. Adding all that to the relevant expressed emotion in this clip and to the negative outlook of the world he expressed on that poorly worded post (feelings on betrayal, friendship lost, despair), I can’t help but feel like whatever happened to him might have to do with mental disease. Perhaps he was severely depressed and tried to hurt himself? I don’t know. But whatever it was that happened, I absolutely agree that we should respect his desire for privacy. I hope he gets well soon.
I agree with the notes that you have made on his phrasing, but also know that strokes often cause depression. In fact, people who have tiny mini-strokes frequently are only diagnosed after they suddenly experience depression and start looking into the reasons why.

Words are powerful. I can understand how he would want to focus on health, the positive to bring more positive into his life. Talking about illness would feel vulnerable, draining. I’d want my privacy, would want to conserve my energy and for people to focus on the positive. Opening up to people who aren’t close to me, who could run with the information to hurt me, my family or just project negativity, wouldn’t be my choice.
It’s his freaking business why he was hospitalized. No one else’s. That’s why we have HIPPA, for patients privacy.

What you didn't mention as to why Jamie said "I want you to remember me for ...." is that he has some lingering illness or he's not able to do some of the things he used to do. As you can see he looks very thin and not like his normal healthy self. I of course hope that isn't the case and that he makes a full recovery and back to his old self as quickly as possible. I think we all love Jamie Fox and wish him well. He doesn't owe us anything but I'm sure glad to see him talking!

I caught the "I want to be remembered" comment too followed by the "I'm here because God wants me here," message. I wondered if he takes pride in being okay and happy and that whatever he went through was such a powerful display of his own weakness as a human (maybe because he almost died) that he doesn't want to share that with the public. I'm also surprised that he doesn't come out and share that he nearly died (if that was the case) because while that is incredibly personal, I believe that with the support to celebrities who have near death experiences (such as Jeremy Renner), it would have been a "safe" comment. My bias definitely leans towards the possibility of a suicide crisis because he may believe it would fully shatter him as an entertainer taking the death of Robin Williams as an example. It's hard for me to break free of that bias when watching this video. So I instead try to stay aware of it while I watch and consider other possibilities. At the end of the day, all we can know is what others choose to share, and it's really not our business to know more unless they want to share it.
Sidenote: I find myself watching peoples eyebrows in just about every video now.

That didn't even cross my mind but we're seeing it more and more with celebrities. That's a very valid opinion and would definitely explain why no one has even slipped up in saying too much. Even people that he works with (manager, agent, house keepers, chauffeurs, etc)have been very quiet about it. Usually magazines get ahold of "a source" and info gets leaked. So yeah, that definitely is a valid assumption.

Yeah. Agreed about the privacy thing. As for thé apology, i can see both ways. I don’t always have to agree with someone to apologize for hurting them. Like if I make a joke and you’re hurt, even if I don’t think my joke was inappropriate I would apologize for hurting you and I would tell you that wasn’t my intention. I look at this the same way, he might still think his post wasn’t anti semitic but he can feel bad if anyone (incorrectly) thought it was and felt hurt.

Exactly. As a friend of mine who is a speech pathologist said, Bruce Willis had a stroke and they covered it up for years. And they boosted him with earpieces and so on until it reached a point where the Aphasia was evident. So if someone like Jamie said that they had a stroke, they might lose out on job possibilities
Also the simple fact that your medical chart is quite literally protected by law. It is no one's business and the fact people think they are owed this info simply because they are nosey and want to weigh in with their opinion is appalling. They don't want to know because they care, they want to know because they don't.
I noticed immediately that comment about "remember me". That is so off and it made me feel like he sees his mortality and brush with death as a distinct possibility sooner than he imagined. Also, lets face it, he is bought and paid for by Hollywood and even if he wanted to tell his audience what really happened, he can't, no way. The social media comment smacked of distraction to me at least and was so strange yet typical at the same time with "important" people in Hollywood, politics or sports.
