  • Building great solutions requires having the right tools for the job. With Google Cloud Platform (GCP), you have many different tools at your disposal. In this session, you'll get an overview of GCP offerings, including storage options, ways to make use of and protect your data, and getting started with machine learning. You'll get answers to questions like: How do I get a Virtual Machine? What NoSQL solutions are available? Where do I open a firewall port? You'll leave with an understanding of the tools available to meet your needs, and a clear path for getting started on GCP.

It's interesting how the GCP videos just run without any ads!

Most GCP presentations are just like this one: Compute VM, Storage, Scaling, VMs; Few programming languages, Jeeze like Google make these products for themselves. We the people have business apps connected to SQL databases. Show a real sample even with simple Front end & a couple DB transactions. You may wanna use your AI to figure this out.

heh thanks, my takeaway is that you can run commands in cloud shell that are actually executed on VM ... did not know that, mind blowing! thanks!

19:14 Is there some magic that handles authentication to your other resources here? Or is it simply left out of the example?

You can setup your own credentials if you want to, (use a custom service account) but I am using the compute engine default account permissions.

I know what installing CPUs, RAM, ets. really means and it's not 'text on a screen' lol. Am now worried that the actual hardware to build systems is going to disappear :( away from us who love to build the systems with actual hands-on hardware and software.

agree, but my personal opinion is that it's just a question of time.

    Hey Google:
We have a humanitarian crisis of our own making in the USA, right now - 9:30am ET 6/21/2018, in that children have been separated from their parents at our southern border without a process for reuniting them.
Google has face recognition technology and other cloud-based resources that can be a platform for a remedy. Google has talent. This is the hour of need for those who have little or nothing.
I am a Google user and shareholder and I am urging Google management to assemble an emergency team of your best people to design a "process to reunite families" and provide it for free. Google, show us your best side.
