That's right. to me, the song wake me up when september ends is indeed a sad song because it is about his father Billie Joe. But this Whatsername song is even sadder because it’s about the feelings and memories we once had with someone, and we’ve also forgotten who that person is. That’s sad and painful at the same time. Just my opinion, though.

+Shishi Yang Well the lyrics are pretty sad. Its about a guy and a long lost love, a relationship that has ended a long time ago leaving only regretful memories in his mind. He was obviously hurt by the break-up and "made a point to burn all of the photographs", however, he still remembers her face even though the name's been erased by the time that passed.

Reminds me how I took off in 2006, left overseas. Came back after 3.5 years. Had the best experiences in my life as well as the emotionally excruciating. He thought I was playing when I told him I was leaving to another state, I don’t know how he took me leaving a 2nd time.
When I came home again after 16 months we only saw each other 3 times from Jan-dec 2015, in feb it felt like the first time all over again, like if we were just friends. We saw a movie In October and things were looking up. The last time was in mid December, everything that was great between us was there that day. We smiled we laughed, took a walk and went to the store. He helped set up the tv. It was a great day. My feelings for him were there, stronger, but I didn’t say anything because I was afraid to get hurt again.
He was shot and killed 13 days later.
I think of him when I hear this song. I don’t know how he felt about me, but he made me feel my at my best and the same when you hit rock bottom.
I never felt such passion or emotion from or for anyone.
