I forgot to mention or include this in the video but it seems like battlepasses for example are also not shared account wide, they are tied to the specific character that you have created, so you would have to purchase new battlepasses for each character that you create.
the battlepass lasts a season which is 3 month ^^ but jeah no accountwide battlepass is pretty bad same goes for monthly ticket

worst thing about the game isnt monetization. its the content limitation and the mobile gamers. u get 1 mobile gamer in challenge mode, u cant do it.
content locked so exp gets waysted and nothing to do. if u explore more u dont see anything. not even collectibles. just nothing to do after u got max lvl.
this is sick, more like a casino with criminal tactics. This shit should become forbidden by law.

Everyhting you mentioned is earn thru play like literally and its not even hard just wait for weekly reset so crazy people hate this game but dont mention every other mmo has more pay to win then this also k do agree the gacha is ridiculous

Good concise summary. Im desperate for a good mmo but not this desperate. Its a clunky game with rhe same old predatory practices. The vigor system ala archeage is a huge warning flag to abort.

Free to play player here, I have a bit over 2k gold from just playing the game, crafting and selling on the market. You don't need gold to buy the best gear, I would say you need gold mainly for consumables, empowerment and gems. My gear score is in line with everyone else's because of how the game has been time gated. There has been a level cap each day and so even whales aren't able to get ahead of everyone else. I have been able to complete all elite dungeons and the elite raid without having to spend any money yet. The only thing I think spending money on the game gets you is pay for convenience. Like getting Vigor refunded for crafting, having a higher chance at chest, etc.

@Mosleso Yeah it hasn't been too bad, and I would say that the time gating has helped with being able to make alts to cut down on some of the gold costs by crafting things for yourself, now I haven't tested yet to see if you can mail items between characters but I should be able to test it soon.
The professions are also time gated. No one can craft the highest level gear yet, and if you look closely at the crafted pieces as well as the pieces in the destiny(dungeon) shop and raids, they're the same. The only difference is an added layer of RNG of getting the best stats for your character.
I would say this games itemization is far superior to Diablo Immortals, whom you compared the game to. Diablo Immortal devi lied and said you couldn't buy gear for real money, but the way they had the itemization gear was a small fraction of where your power came from, the legendary gems were the real power source and you COULD buy it for real money.
Like I said before, I think it's pay for convenience, maybe even pay for faster progression. Until we reach endgame, we won't know fully how the monetary system is set up. All we can do is wait and see. Maybe it will turn out to be paid 2 win.
For now, the game seems to be gated in a way to keep it fair, but after tomorrow, when the level cap is finally risen to the max of 40, it could all change, and the whales will be able to do what they do to get ahead of the general population.
It is the same ol same ol, new mmo release, everyone raving about , in two months Dead after Hype dies down and people really see how the monetization screws you, ftp players bleed out slowly but surely , in twelve months message from tencent we are sad to announce Tarisland is closing servers forever. Soon featured on Death of a game.
If you just wanna get your mmo fix and are sick of paying subs to a company that sucks lately and go into this with a "meh it's free and does enough for me for now" approach the game is good.
That aside, I have been very impressed with the 2 dungeons I have done so far, very fast and fun and I am hating Blizzard right now so this is perfect timing for me lol.
Not sure how long I will play for, or how far I will get but for now it's not bad. I'd say it's minor pay2win BUT I don't mind it as a filthy casual because the games giving so much for free which is what I was looking for AND you can get all that stuff in game by using gold so it's a win win imo. The lazy folk or competitive as heck folk who wanna be there fast will pay with real money. The ones who like to play the game in other ways i.e farming (which I absolutely love) will farm the gold. So I hope there are some good gold farms. I already know u can easily get a lot just from playing and doing achievements.
I appreciate your comment, and yeah as said in the video you can still enjoy the game F2P and not have to engage in the P2W elements at all. As long as you are enjoying it then thats fine, but we still have to acknowledge whenever its considered P2W.
@@Mosleso Yup I almost stopped playing already when I seen how shady everything seems but I am going to just play for now, have some fun while I can then if it get's too bad I will just stop :D
Oh btw, I meant to say you can turn that annoying guild chat scrolling over the screen off!! It's the first thing I did lol. That's horrible, I'm not sure why that's a thing but I play on pc, maybe it helps on mobile? Lol
@@keblin86 Yeah its a good mindset to have, not to take it that seriously. Honestly had no idea about the guild chat text scrolling it was very weird, i thought it was a bug at first but it seems like its intentional lol.

I can see the point but I don't think that this game has the worst monetization ever as the title suggests. If this is P2W then WoW is also P2W because WoW literally has the same stuff, from buying gold, selling gold, buying gear with gold, buying gear upgrades with gold, battle pass, monthly subscription (ticket) and its even worse in WoW since its mandatory. You can also buy subscription as a f2p player in WoW with a gold. Except from the crafting limitation it's all the same. And while its not ideal, I prefer this games crafting system tbh. Because in WoW you need to be rich to reach high levels of crafting and how do you get rich? Either grind with sweat and blood or buy gold (WoW Token) from the game shop. Atleast this game gives a F2P player chance to actually get there. So yes even though the game might be considered P2Progress (not Win) I think that its not the worst I have seen. If you think this is the worst, then I have really bad news for you.
There is no argument that "if this is p2w then wow is p2w", yes WoW p2w, so what does that really change for Tarisland? Nothing. I did not even make a comparison to WoW.
It's essential to understand that paying for convenience or progress is paying to win the game. You are paying to basically skip progress or do it faster than others, which allows you to save a lot of time and beat the game in uneven playing fields. Winning in a video game doesn't have to just mean that you are winning against another player in a pvp duel or pvp arena, it could very well just mean that you are beating the game in that regard, either by leveling faster than others, crafting faster than others, killing faster than others and so on.
I explained in the video what paying for an advantage means and if that still doesn't ring a bell to you then I don't know what will.
Tencent is a scummy company it made Chimera land an actual good game with good mechanics and potential but ruined it with p2w and shut it down within 2 yrs
I doubt tarisland will last forever

I played a lot of those mobile chinese MMO, let me just say that the mindset for those dev are fundamentally different from western dev.
Games are expected to have a life cycle of only about 2~3 year. If you make it to 5 then great, but that's the exception, not the norm.
So most dev just find more and more creative way to make money out of those 2~3 years and move on to other project and repeat.

Typical monetization practices of all kinds. The worst of them is probably "Vigor". I absolutely hate this "energy" in games. It literally forbids you from performing certain activities (after a time). So basically monetization sharpened even more than Lost Ark. The game doesn't look bad, but because of such monetization, I don't even plan to install it. Thanks for the video.

Ive been playing quite a bit. This video is a bit misleading. I have 2500 gold and havent had to yet spend a penny of it. Also the game literally throws gear and potions at you which is why I havent spent any, im sure it will change at end game. But the "buying gold" thing is the exact same model as the wow token, hence the wow clone. You can buy crystals, convert it to gold, and spend it on the auction house. You cannot buy the best shit in game, that you need to grind. But its absolutely pay to win in that regard. Everything else is cosmetic. And all those other currencies are earned in game. This is no where near the level of p2w BS that diablo Immortal, lost ark, or archeage is. Yet.....

I said this in the video. And for the record, I also said that just because you can engage in content and play the game for free and make gold, doesnt mean that its not considered P2W. Any advantages you can get by spending real money will always be considered P2W. It's fine to discuss how much of an advantage you can get and that is for sure on a spectrum, but the game will still be considered P2W by definition sir and I did provide some examples and comparisons.

This is clickbait scam. You clearly have no idea how this works.
I have not spent a dime on this game (you speak of endgame, when end game isn't even available for 3 more days, and nobody even has much content of endgame on youtube so you're talking out of nothing), and have over 5k gold. I can and have bought mount upgrades as well with gold I easily earned in game. You earn gold for doing achievements and reputation grinds as well as selling mats and consumes.
The game is not p2w. The gear you can buy "with real money" is essentially buying BOE craft-able gear in World of Warcraft (same system btw, buy wow token to buy craft-able gear, or even worse buy raid gear from carries in WoW, impossible in Tarisland)
I have already earned a cosmetic overhaul to my priest just from playing the game, new full set of cosmetic gear and weapon from earning achievements. Essentially you do the elite raid, get and elite weapon, and achievement unlocks for you class to change how your weapon looks. Yes the monotonous gear you get from open world that has stats on it doesn't change your appearance to a slightly less grey chest piece than before, my character looks sick now and shows off that I did the challenge mode raid and completed 5 achievements at once to unlock a mount as well as getting the weapon for completing challenge mode.
So yes most of your video is completely uninformed nonsense. It seems as though you played the tutorial, made uninformed decisions with what you could see at the time, and made click bait video.

This game is the biggest mmo p2w trash i ever played.
All the things you buy must be payed for each char.
No transfer between chars and so many game blocker.
This game is a money wall like hell.
