- Since my Lavender Orpingtons are laying, I decided to set our small incubator. Hatching your own chickie babies is an incredibly fun experience and great education for you and your kids. If you'd like to see more videos on this, candling eggs, hatching eggs, broody hens and how I set up my brooders-be sure to check my full chicken playlist! Lots to see there! Thanks so much!

I’m so glad I can review this with my Littles 6 years later 🥰🥰🥰🥰 they are 8&6 and have the incubator in their room. ❤😊
Listening to Patara does more for helping my anxiety than a Xanax.
Right lol
Thanks I've never hatched eggs before and would love to do it..
Thank you so much for all the info! We just put 27 of our chickens eggs into an incubator and it's quite the learning curve. Fingers crossed we're doing it right. Right now I'll be super happy with a 50% hatch rate. So scared that we're getting the temperature wrong. We've got three different thermometers and all three have different readings, But one is a calibrated meat thermometer and I'm trusting that one the most!
Same here AND a temp/humid controller and they all are 3-4 degrees off.
as if I didn't already have chick fever I watch this and it gets worse lol
Haha! We love those baby chicks!
Me too hun me too
Hi Patara, what do you use to clean your incubator after the eggs have hatched and to prepare for the next group of eggs? I am excited to report that your videos helped me hatch my first 8 eggs this week. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to sharing your knowledge with us all.
Girl! You do it all! Thanks so much for all you do. It has helped us tremendously! 💚
Praying for all healthy girls!
How long have you had your Magic Fly? Does it have a hydrometer?
I just can't get enough of watching chicky-babies!🐣🐣🐣
Thank you! xo
Thank you this was a perfect video
Thank you! Great video! Just got this incubator today. Can't wait to set it up and put some fertilized eggs in. :)
Neat video l. Love watching any content with hatching 🐤
We are doing the same on our channel/homestead right now
We use the larger incubator and have had great success.
thanks i have a friend now yay!
That is true because I have a big incubator and I have 95% positive results .
Patara, when these eggs hatch, you should set more in the bator on March 5th so that they hatch the Saturday before Easter.
How do YOU control humidity in this while using it? I purchased it through your link and it’s supposed to arrive today!
Were the eggs you put in the incubator laid that day? If not, how many days after they are laid are they still candidates for hatching?
Really clear helpful videos. Thank you!
Omg you sound just like Dolly Parton! 💚
Cheer~~~~(of a bird,a chicken) sit on (eggs) in order to keep them warm and bring them to hatching.😊
I'll pray that you get all girls. Good information it's very helpful. Thank you and God bless.
Thank you!
+Appalachia's Homestead how much water do i add?and what day do you refill it?
So to rotate the eggs you remove the lid, rotate and place the lid back on. Also how much of a rotation, just a smudge each time or rotate to the bottom then too mark and so on?
Update on my new Magicfly incubator: 100% hatch rate on the first try! 7 out of 7 chicken eggs hatched, right on schedule. This incubator is great! Kept it on my kitchen counter so I didn't have to run up and down the stairs every time I had to turn the eggs. It's quiet and doesn't take up a lot of space. One point to mention is that if you go on Amazon and read the reviews about this incubator, some people mention that their hatch rates were not that great. But, we need to remember that all of the eggs may not be fertile. You can only accurately determine hatch rate if you are certain that your eggs are fertile and also, that they haven't been sitting around in extremely high or low temperatures. I am very happy with this incubator, and I highly recommend it! I also purchased the egg candler, and I am very pleased with it as well. Thanks Patara!
After collecting eggs, how long can they sit on the counter before going into the incubator, and still work?
our manual didn’t say anything about keeping the humidified !
I have been squirting water on the eggs.
I hope we didn’t blow it 😳
We bought the MajicFly Incubator too! We just received our 10 Silkie eggs in the mail today. I see that MajicFly Incubator is already set to the 38 degrees. Do you alter your temps as the eggs progress or does the machine do it automatically? These instructions are so hard to understand.
37.5 degree c is almost exactly 99.5 degrees
If a temperature moves to 42 degree Celsius at the starting 5 days will it affect on eggs??
thx for this video, very helpful on many levels! :)
I am trying out my Magic fly incubator for the first time. One thing I am confused about. Do you only put water in the inner ring? I read a lot of confusing information on the internet. One person said to add water to outer ring and the inner ring right before lockdown. Do you recommend this? Thanks so much I learn so much from your videos. If anyone else knows please comment. I know Pater is in the middle of moving. Thanks!
Hi Appalachia's Homestead! Do you have any thought about raising different kinds of poultry in the same coop? Like chickens and turkeys, quail, pheasants or even guinea fowl. I really value your opinion and was wondering what your idea about that was.
+Deer Hollow Forge I know folks that have all of these together! I do not simply because I just do have them. I want Guineas but with training an LGD right now TO poultry-that might derail our training. I would recommend more homework and being ready to raise them together rom the get go. Also... always have a back up plan to separate simply bc things happen... I hope this helps! xo
+Appalachia's Homestead Thanks! I have had silver laced wyandotte chickens for years and was interested in adding more diversity to my flock thank you so much!
Aren't those the sweetest hens? ;-)
+Appalachia's Homestead I have found the wyandotts to be very assertive and likely to become a pecking problem ={ like all chickens you cant seem to summarize the attributes of the the individual chicken based only on the breed. but im sure you know that lol!
Mine have been very humble in my barn... but that's due to probably being around other more assertive breeds. Now, the roosters... that's a totally different issue. I will not have another Wyandotte fella... ;-)
Gah, thats it! I can't take it anymore! I'm getting chicks!
Thanks so much
Hi Patara, I was watching an old video. What incubator did you finally decide was best?
How old are the eggs you’re using? Do you collect on the counter until desired number of eggs?
I thought humidity was as important as temperature when incubating eggs but you never mentioned this; why not ?
Awesome Video!! Thank You for the Info!!
Great video, thanks!
I am a beginner is it possible for eggs to hatch after 30 days in an incubator?
love the video thank you!
What you do if you have eggs that are closer to lock down then the other eggs , do you still turn the other eggs that aren’t ready for lock down
Hi I have a quick question.... On day 18 do you still turn the eggs in the incubator or not?
After 14 days stop turning.
Thanks for sharing
I got a new model mini 9 egg incubator with 9 egg candler under each egg hoders . Would you wanna try ? I could send you free.
great video!
+justin bolin Thank you!
Look at your Machine closely I think you might be able to come up with a second tier for your machine. It might be roomie enough. Just a thought.
Do you put them in a Hatcher for lock down or do they hatch in your incubator?
How. Can. You. Incebate. With. Out. The. Inbater
Do the eggs have to fill the incubator or can there be spaces
Can I keep my egg in refrigerator until I get the amount I need
Well done
This video thank you beacause this helped a lottt
Go to tractor supply they have big cheap incubators
what about all the other settings? what did you put them under. or did you keep the other settings factory set. just got mine in the mail. so confused. t.y.
what if I have finch eggs if the temperature going to be the same
thank you this helped a lot
Did you self turn the eggs everyday!?
i have one hen who keeps laying eggs that look like they have large veins that raise up on the shell , is there a reason shes laying them like that??
That sounds like a potential "body check" where she corrected the egg after stress occurs. Check to see if she could be stressed. 👍🐔
I am looking to find some Black copper marans and I cant find them. where can I order them? I live in Texas and no one knows what Im talking about.
Ebay

i put eggs in incbator on sept 11 at 1 30 in after noon so how long will it take
21 days for chickens.
What about the humidity
what incubator did you use?
U sound like pearl
how many chickens do you have?
hi Marie , where to by one incubator?
Before putting the eggs in the incubator you should candle them and if they are fertile they have a air sack if they aren't fertile they will not have an air sack . And you should have one rooster for six chickens . That is all .
Nabil Diab
That's not true at all. Eggs, whether fertile or not, will have an air sack. And it should be 1 rooster per 12 hens.
Nabil Diab
You don’t candle eggs till day 10 and like Ruby’s zoo said all eggs fertile or not have an air sack.
