credit if you post it somewhere or even, if you want, make a lil note just for you in your bujo crediting whose theme you tried to copy. I like that because when I look back years later I can remember who it was that inspired me. Also if you credit where credit is due, nobody will mind about you being inspired and copying a theme, on the contrary, I feel like it's an honour

if you want to train yourself to be more creative, try getting up prompt list or word generators when you have free time and just make a page based around the word/prompt you get! over time it’ll help you get better at relating words to ideas. looking through random pinterest boards that arent your style helps too, even if nothing in them is something you like you’re still expanding your knowledge of possibilities and, hey! you may surprise yourself with what you end up finding cool :)

for anyone wanting to recreate the prints, but not wanting or having the supplies to use the method amanda did, what i’m doing is just making stencils out of paper. I think i’ll just use the stencils i made as a stamp with black ink, and then color in the out and inside different colors with markers. When you cut them, by using the tip of the scissor, you get geometric lines that you can make vary in thickness. i’m also probably going to draw on the black lines created from missing spots on the linoleum just with a black pen :)

A comment on improving safety - it's easier to carve out stamps from a big block of rubber and cut the stamp base out of it after finishing. It is also safer to have something on the table that restrains the block in the opposite direction to where you're leaning/applying pressure (like a blocked piece of wood). Then you don't have to do that with your hand. When I do it at home I block a kitchen cutting board between the stamp rubber and a wall so my hands are never on the way of my blade 👍

I love how Amanda shows her creative process here. Like she does it in all her videos, but this one in particular is rlly real, not only with the print, but at around 21:00 when she was making the habit trackers, she decided she wanted to change the headers, but then it smudged but eventually she figured out a way around it, and I love it so much bc it reminds me of my own creative process, where I sometimes wing things and things go wrong and then I manage to find a solution for it

filling in the colours after taking the print was done before as well. and it is still a technique used sometime. so ya you are still within the printmaking realm. so is using multiple different print cutouts to make a single artwork, goes a little into the mixed media side, but still there!
your whole setup is pure printmaking!
source: degrees in fine arts and art history!
(i am posting this here not as a validation of Amanda's work, she's amazing she doesn't need anyone's validation, but since she took time and energy to actually show everyone what printmaking is and explained things so nicely and softly, i felt like i should leave this here. love your works Amanda!)

Love the setup!! We did this in school as well and you don't necessarily need to make three different stamps of the same motif (I actually can't imagine that it will turn out exactly the same each time). You can carve out the bit that you want in a specific colour, apply the colour and use the stamp. After that you carve out the next layer of colour and stamp that onto the same paper (it's hard to use the stamp on the exact same spot so the picture might be a little shifted, but I think it looks cool). And repeat this step for all of your colours until there is nearly nothing left to carve out of the linoleum.

This is amazing. The stamps really make it look like the background was black and you put the color on top. Reminds me a lot of a local artist, Ben Mann. He loves playing with contrast by adding bright colors on top of black paper. using the negative space as the defining lines. He came to my elementary school and taught my class how to paint like him when I was a kid 🥰

My fave set up EVER! Would love to see you use some cutouts - like print them on the bright paper and cut the shapes out to make more of a collage style. Also, you can use paper to block out parts of the stamp where it might overlap. Dying to see some patterned paper integrated, too! So many options.
One note about Pop Art that I always tell my students is that printmaking as a medium is so perfectly representative of the movement. Warhol was commenting on the idea of commodity - both in products and celebrities. And commodity is about making multiples, which is exactly what printmaking is about!

Hey Amanda!!! I love that you tried this new medium! I loved taking printmaking classes in high school and college. And just so you know for future reference, you actually wouldn’t need to make multiples of the same stamp! There’s a method called “reduction printmaking” where you would simply layer the different colors and carve between each layer. It makes it a lot easier than making multiple stamps! Great job as always 💖

This is a great spread. It was very interesting to watch you make the stamps and talk about the inspiration and references you were making. Pretty cool!

Great video. I’ve been loving making my own stamps for my bullet journal. Super cool to see your style and approach.
