I own 22 watches, most of which are
Great review. I bought this watch last summer and I can't believe it flew under the radar like it did for a lot of watch lovers. I was a bit biased against Tag's from all the bashing in most of the forums but it caught my eye the first time I saw it and couldn't pass up the price I was able to get it at.
I've considered selling it a few times to fund a Black Bay but it's just such a complete piece - Sporty, dressy enough for business casual, masculine, water resistant, reliable and just different and blingy enough to catch some attention and stand out. After watching your review I think I love my cay2112 more than ever and so glad I never sold it.
Great stuff :-) I definitely wouldn't go for a BB over this watch. I do like Tudor but if you like the functionality, of the TAG, it won't compete with this.
I'd hold onto it long term, it is one of Tags best pieces and classic design. Pretty certain long term the design will be almost ageless and endlessly wearable as an all round watch.
Beautiful watch! How is your experience after 4 years?
Because of this video i told my wife to get me this watch for xmas. I cant wait till xmas.
Great Jason! Really glad to have been of help :-)
Ram IT in ma ashol
Ive got the ceramic blue dial and face model with the cyclops at 3 oclock. 300m 16 cal.Cant think of ever having anything else on my wrist. Love it !!!!
Glad to hear of another person who likes their Aquaracer. They're excellent watches, enjoy.
Really like this one. Looks amazing, like the size and look. And the weight!
Awesome. All your time pieces are superb. Enjoy the videos a ton.
Another excellent review. I've never considered a TAG Heuer but have to say that's been a bit of an eye opener. Thank you.
+scooterboy great stuff, surprised myself with this one as well 😊
People do buy watches by names , knowing watches is different .
This watch caught my eyes at first sight and will remain part of my collection for good , I recently bought the new version aquaracer 500m.
They're awesome watches. I've heard of poor reliability but I never had an issue.
TAG Heuer is perfect combination of price, style, design and self respect
I think in 2017 they make a decent value watch, but just don't pay MSRP as they don't hold their value for the most part.
what would be an okay price for this watch?
@@WatchHobbyist Do Breitling or ORIS hold there value more ?
Bought the TH Aquaracer 2110 black face with rubber strap, it's a lovely piece and I wear it for both business and casual. Has relegated my also wonderful, black Submariner to some shelf time. The comfort and modern but classical look for this watch really has impressed me. The black rubber strap and face combo is a sweet combination, Rugged sporty but enough about it to still wear with a shirt.
Yeah it's a really well executed watch, especially for this brand. This is where they need to concentrate, not all these silly monstrosities they keep coming out with.
Watch Hobbyist - exactly, in addition, I know the world is changing but I find these "connected" watches ridiculous and I personally would never buy or wear one. Cheapens a luxury watch brand imho. Class is permanent, Tag would do well to remember that, and stop chasing some of these silly fad type releases.
This is a great looking watch...v well built....i remem i bought my first tag in 2000...
Thanks Daniel. I was wearing it today; great watch
@@WatchHobbyistHow did uou know my name..??
Great video! Just bough one of the Caliber 5 Aquaracers myself in a sale as a first luxury(ish) watch and I love it!
Great stuff Dan. Definitely a luxury item in my opinion; enjoy :-)
I have this watch and I think you nailed this review, great watch
I've got the exact same watch myself (black face) and I absolutely love it! Robust and stylish without being in your face...
Yes I agree, it's a lovely piece
Your reviews are very insightful and entertaining! Thank you for putting in the time into making these videos! I'm new into watch collecting however I'm still attending uni so my budget is quite limited. The first "luxury" watch that I plan on purchasing is the Aquaracer 2016 Calibre 5; I would just like to ask your thoughts on the bracelet fit and overall quality of Tag Heuer at least based on your Aquaracer. Really appreciate it and hoping to one day amass a collection similar to yours!
Hi Tom, and thanks. The Bracelet on my Aquaracer is excellent tbh, with the only downside being pins which need a lot of effort to adjust when removing links etc. The clasp feels very secure, and there's not too much rattle; it all feels very solid. I know some TAGs feature Selita base movements and I have found issues in the past with those, but no such problems with ETA models, so look into what yours would have. The outlet stores are very helpful and offer great discounts; a further 10% can be achieved at Bicester (if you're in the UK) sometimes if you have a VIP card.
Good vid . Tag make some nice gear. I have to add the connected watch is great but of fun but quality remains present at same time. fav tag - Monaco titan.
What is the watch lug2lug measurment? I love everything about the watch but I am hesitant to buy because I fear it will look too big on my 7 inch round wrist. I've never had a watch over 42mm diameter and over 13mm height. You mentioned that you have a 6.75 inch wrist and it looks great on you but a lug2lug measurement will be very helpful if you can provide it. Thanks!
Did you kept the watch ? Did you serviced it ? Did you had any problem with it ? How is it keeping time ?
I have the calibre5 version nonchrono. and I agree this is the type of watch that Tag needs to make. they really did a great job on this design.
i also have the blue omega aquaterra and it really pairs well as they have this very similar designesque feel to them. but the Omega wears slightly better on my wrist. but this Tag really is impressive for the price point.
+jsong21 Thanks, and I agree. I was looking at TAGs before in a store; none of them do a thing for me so this Aquaracer is a nice change from their mostly mundane designs IMO.
I just bought a Carrera 1887 and i absolutely love it. heavy watch but then again it is an automatic. terrific chronograph and very very accurate. definitley a watch to consider
Thanks. Im sold on this aqua model. My wife is getting this for me for xmas.
Jason Ramit did she get it you my g
That's my watch and I love this...
I recently just added a two tone AquaRacer to my collection as my beater. It's comfortable and looks really appealing for me. I hope you get the same experience.
I am so far for sure. Really punches above its weight.
+Watch Hobbyist I didn't get a chrono. I got a quatz
They're all excellent really. I used to really be into TAGs a few years back and they never let me down.
+Watch Hobbyist yea TAGs look very nice. It's a shame that people are so quick to judge the brand tag Heuer due to the whole seiko movement issue.
seiko movement...??
What a stunning dial
Yes it really works well with the light. Reminds me very much of a Nautilus!
I just bought one on a cruise ship for 2700. I'm in love.
Haha great move, enjoy
The watch looks great, the amount of snobs who turn their nose at this brand is insane (never for good reasons), this watch is a perfect example of a luxury sports watch. And a great brand to start your collection with being that the prices are brilliant for the entry level consumer. It’s swiss, smart, sport, sophisticated, silver and suits all types of attire, suits, sportswear and those sofa days.
I wasn't expecting to like this watch at the beginning of the video, but by the end I loved the blue dial. Good for you for finding a keeper at a great price point. I'm at the exact same spot with my collection. I need something toolish. I had a Pelagos but couldn't connect with it. Not into the Omega SMPc and I've already got a Planet Ocean. I found your video when researching a Tag Aquaracer 300m with the blue dial. Also might go Montblanc Timewalker UTC...just not sure. Any suggestions?
The TAG is hard to beat at the sale price I paid, but I always recommend the Speedmaster moonwatch. The Mont Blanc no so much as they're quite easy to find at -50% and that's hurt the values IMO. They make nice pens, and the watches are okay, but generally more boardroom than the sporty/leisurely TAG Heuer you mentioned. The Oris range has recently become more interesting, Longines are nice, and you could probably get a Breitling diver in a similar price range. Depends what you want really as Sinn and Damasko would also be worth a look.
Watch Hobbyist thanks for the feedback. The moonwatch is really nice, and I love Oris as a great value. I'll have to take a closer look at their offerings. Plus Sinn, don't know much about them but the U1 looks pretty good
Good review as always and great message.
Thanks, really appreciate that
That is a very nice watch....but I don see it at the retailers...issit discontinued??
I like you taste in watches! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, I like your taste in cars judging by your photo :-D
Having seen this vid a good few months back it sprung to mind when i came across this watch in the January / February sales ( Ernest Jones Jewellers ) it was hard to pass up on especially
with the amount of money that was being knocked off ? theirs two colours of dials too this watch Blue or Black both look good on wrist but only the blue one was in the sale for some reason
£2600 for the black dial & a whopping £750 off the blue dial taking it down to £1850 not cheap but a lot better than full MRRP.
Needless to say i ended up buying it on part because of this review ( excellent in my opinion ) & my is this a heavy watch & built like a Tank also this will be worn on a daily basis ? or in rotation
with some of my Seiko's seeing as i don't want to scratch / harm my New Omega Planet Ocean 45.5 that i got for Christmas ? seeing as i'm still in the babying stage with it.
Thank you man it was very helpfull i decided to buy one after your review.
but do you suggest where to buy it from online in uk which has the best prices
vilson simoni be careful buying watches online because there are so many fakes bought online. The only one I'd recommend online is watchfinder.co.uk but personally you can't get any safer than an authorised retailer.
You've probably got one by now but I saw these in the sales again recently. Beaverbrooks/Ernest Jones/Goldsmiths etc are worth checking out
Watch Hobbyist i bought a formula 1 ceramic 16 caliber at beaverbrooks but no deal its astonishing
i have a 41mm blue way211cba0928 aquaracer and an Oris blue 42mm 65 (non-heritage) and as much as love the oris i just cant help but think the tag has better built, i mean the markers and the dial and the needles are just so clean and feel premium whereas the oris especially the needles are a bit rough when examined in macro. even my rado captain cook needles are far finer and neat.
I really like the 43mm Aquaracer with black ceramic bezel, what are your thoughts on the plasic movement holder in these watches. I've read a few negative comments on them it's kind of put me off tbh
Beautiful watch ! The moviment is SW500, do you liked ?
Apologies for the delay. I've never had an issue but have heard of issues with them
hey, thks for the video. What is the strap size on this model? 22mm? or 20?
Love your content. You should do a state of the collection
Thanks but if it takes 10 mins for one watch, imagine how long an SOTC video would take!! :-D
hahaha it will take quite a while but i bet all the viewers will appreciate it, or you can review all your watches now so you dont have to do it again at the SOTC maybe like TGV style SOTC
+BatakAviation TBH I change my watches around a fair bit, so one at a time is better 😊
I think you'll find, that Tag are trying to get back to their Heuer roots. They are releasing a lot more retro pieces.
+Maynard Joseph Well yes and no. I've held the "new" Monza. Very large, with nowhere near the character of the original unfortunately.
I didn't know non screw down pushers could achieve such high water resistance. Are they quite firm to engage?
+Thewatchman8 Yes they have an initial stopping point, and then you push past that to click the chronograph function
+Watch Hobbyist would you consider doing state of your collection review?
+Thewatchman8 It takes me 10 mins to review one watch, never mind all of them in one go 😄
¡Wow! Is very very good. 👍🏻
I'm trying to figure out what's the difference between the Cay 2112.BA0927 and the Cay2112.BA0925... they seem identical to me. Am I missing something?
+Sergio Limonta well the bad part refers to the bracelet, so they may be a difference with the clasp etc. The first part of the model refers to the watch head.
Like the dial and love the blue, but too big and thick for me. I don't really care for the bezel as it looks a bit clunky, but overall it's a good looking watch. I do hope you got it for a better price than the $4,000 retail on the TAG site, lol. ;-)
+CHRIS LJ Bought it for a great price tbh and the chunky look suits the watch IMO 👍👍
Tissot make a watch that kinda looks like it. The pr 100
Why there I always see there is same model but different design of bracelet design? Which one is better?
I think there's two or three different variants but would imagine they're mostly similar.
I had to send mine back for repairs 3 times. same problem stops running, can't manually wind, won't stay wound when you wear it or in a Winder I've only owned this watch for 2.5 years
Sorry to hear that. Have you tried an independent watchmaker? They may have more success
I had mine repaired recently. The service centre advised me not to change the date when it's close to midnight. That would jam the movement.
@@Singdollar 9 to 3 as in most sellita/valjouc/eta base models. Some like my BO1 can be changed anytime.
I you dont mind telling me were I can buy this watch at a good price
Try their site it goes for $5500
How did you go from Daytona to Patek and then to Tag?
+Michael O'Connell Well someone was going to ask I guess 😊 I've still got the Patek, this is just part of my collection. I have other cheaper and more expensive watches 👍👍
+Watch Hobbyist did you sell the Daytona?
the previous aquaracer chronograph has day-date function, much better. .
I do like Day/Date complications but also they can be quite problematic if adjusted at the wrong time
Thanks for the review. I am going to offer you a bit of constructive (and direct) criticism. I hope you take it in the spirit in which it's intended. I mean no disrespect but If you are going to do watch reviews on an actual watch channel, how can you not include vital measurements like lug width, lug to lug distance and case thickness? You say in the review (paraphrasing), "I haven't weighed it but I imagine it's about 160 grams." Come on man, weigh the darn thing! Put in the effort to make your reviews more thorough and professional, your viewers and subscribers will appreciate it. Best wishes to you.
It's too bad I remember the TAG Heuer of the 1980s. I just can't get past the memory of those hideous plated strange things TAG used to make. I know they're different now, but.....still.
+ryvr madduck If you look at companies such as Kia, they're massively different now compared to a couple of decades ago. TAG still make some bad ones, but they're generally a lot of watch for the money
Watch Hobbyist I realize, but it's just the memories of TAG from the 80s, gold plated dog crap. Most of that stuff is in the hundred dollar range. Some of them are sorta iconic I guess like everyone in perms back then, cargo pants, and Member's Only jackets. But would anyone in their right mind wear that stuff now?
+ryvr madduck I think you may need to look at their current range as you couldn't be further from the truth.
Watch Hobbyist I know, I feel guilty, too much ArchieLuxury influence I guess.
+ryvr madduck Unfortunately in 2016, these are seen as cheap. They're not but they're also good quality. If you're used to Rolex etc, you won't like them I guess, but I have watches of all different types, and I enjoy all of them a lot. This hobby is about buying what YOU like. If you try a TAG and dislike it fine, but if you're just accepting the views of that UA-cam "sensation", I can't empathise at all 😬😬
Original this how much
I don’t recommend this watch. I have bought one and had to return it as they had to replace the heart of the watch. It was not functioning well
for men?
You made it sound like it's a cheap watch (as in not high quality). It's not a cheap price.
I love this watch, it's great for the money. It's a lot of money of course, but in the world of premium watches, I paid a price at the very low end of the market. This is how the values have to be viewed.
Manly watch
People in london and other places the scum bags will still whip that tag off your wrist even if you dont think its worth a lot because you got better.
Send it back💩, if your need a beater watch get a Tudor
+Toasted Owl Happier with this than any of my Tudors thanks
+Watch Hobbyist ah yes, I see you have the BBB. Interesting to hear you prefer the Tag to this. Genuinely interested to know why??
+Toasted Owl Because it's not trying to be something it isn't. It stands out on its own and I love the dial. People will say "it's only a TAG" but it's much more than that. Very good quality and a very reasonable price.
+Watch Hobbyist fair enough, when I first saw it I thought it was tying to be a RO with that blue dial. So maybe there both trying to be something there not?!Enjoy it... Sounds like you've already decided to keep it👌
+Toasted Owl A Royal Oak? They have the patisserie dial though so nothing like it. The Nautilus has similar lines through it but they're nothing like each other. The Tudor is trying to be like a vintage variant in a modern case, but the thickness was just too much in the end for me.
its FAKE
