I served at Bawdsey 1967/8 at that time it was the only operational RAF Station where the WRAF outnumbered the men. It was also the training station for WRAF Air Traffic Control assistants. Happy days.
RAF Bawdsey was in my back yard when I lived there from 1984 to 1987 serving in the U.S. Air Force. My neighbors were in the RAF stationed at Bawdsey. Good times for sure!!
The architecture of RAF BAWDSEY IS STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL. Does this beautiful building have Listed Status?? It should have. The grounds in which this stunning building stands are equallly beautiful. Thankyou for sharing this video in relation to the Lasting Legacy To Radar. The history of it is fascinating:-)
Robert Watson changed his name to Watson-Watt after inventing the IFF system. That gadget they put in our spitfires to identify friend from foe. It puts out a little radio "pip" every time it detect a radar ping. Funny man wot.

Had to appreciate the whispered "dare I do it?" right before the "Bitte schön, sprechen Sie Deutsch?"
Andrew E. What does that mean in english?
@@archiewhite7543 "Please, do you speak German?"
The "Bitte schön" could probably also be interpreted along the lines of "Pardon me".
Lived there 72-75. My father was stationed there.
In `72 I lived across from there at Felixstowe Ferry
My Dad was too.
We were in Roman Way. David Joyce

History of the RAF to be a country as culture.
Why dont we british have a missile defence system? We should have but don't!!
Because if it does go down...We're all toast and jam......'the new tech will swamp the island with a thousand wee wedgies....
Very interesting but not as interesting as the presenter
Bit hippy though!
