Seems like there’s been a lot of disrespectful discourse on Tatum bc he shot poorly (7-19, 18pts), but his rebounding, his assists, hockey assists, blocks, and playmaking rn is on a different level rn.
For those that think that of Tatum, just understand that there’s more than just scoring the ball to impact your team to win. I’d rather have Tatum average a cool 22/11/4 and win by 20+ than to have him average 30+ (on probably bad efficiency) and lose in dramatic fashion.
It's shocking but if you think about it Tatum's championship window in Boston is closing this season. Going forward he will not be able to compete against SGA, ANT, Brunson, Banchero, Mathurin.
Tatum is just not at the level of SGA, Ant, Luka

Tatum is playing smarter this time around in the playoffs, i feel like he's playing possum until they get deeper, then he's going to take over to bring home banner 18. 😊
Teams are doubling and triple teaming him and he's using his gravity to create for others. Derrick White is so hot right now because Tatum is taking a backseat to allow his teammates to get good looks.
He's also playing as the primary rebounder with Porzingis out, he's been stellar with it too, double digit rebounds in every game this playoffs
He's been nails on defense, and that doesn't light up the stat sheet, but you notice it in the games when he's on the court
Tatum has quietly averaged a double double the last 4 games I don't care if u don't give me 30 a night but if u giving me 20+ and 10+ rebounds a game I'm satisfied because ur helping the team win in other ways when struggling to score. That's a true leader he's finally learned that

As a Cs can I think that’s more of a matchup thing. That Magic team is huge, it was hard for the Cavs to consistently generate good looks, and they’re already inconsistent on offense. I think over the course of this series their defense might give us some problems, if we have rough stretches where we can’t score, while Donny is attacking the lane downhill, we’ll be in trouble
Well let's not forget I think we only beat the magic once this season.
Without a real center lol we had a pf at and center and a sf at pf. Also the cavs even being here is surprising since the rebuild started in 2019
@@drich9869 I agree. I'm a Celtics fan too. The Magic have bothered us over the past two seasons because of their size. Magic won the season series 3-1 in 2022-23. If it was Magic vs Celtics in the second round, the series would go to at least 6 games without Porzingis. Gotta give the Magic credit.

It isn't being talked about enough how much Tatum is having a major impact in other areas outside of just scoring. His decision making and patience offensively has gone next level and he is continuing to make the opponents pay when they double team him. He's sacrificing and he has basically made himself a decoy which is why White and the other shooters has been off the charts so far this playoffs and Brown can get in his bag much easier. Defensively, he's gotten double digit rebounds every game and he is arguably the strongest weak side and help defender in the game right now.
100%, a lot of casuals just look at shooting numbers because they don’t understand defense. The guy cleans up on the perimeter and suffocates driving lanes and has developed into an excellent facilitator.
Have problems at home? The Celtics have the best home record in the NBA by a lot. Shaq obviously doesn't watch games.

Celtics played great D against the Cavs. Cavs play great D, but their offense is so bad that the defense ends up collapsing like what happened in game 1 against the Celtics. As a Cavs fan, JB Bickerstaff needs to go. He's a good defensive coach, but their offense is so lame, uncreative & stagnant.

Wow amazing performance by Boston Celtics and the whole team that has sacrificed so much for their team and their teammates they totally deserved this win by the way they played this game and this game one . If they keep playing like they played this series and elevating their game to adjust to their opponents they will definitely win the championship this year. And it definitely starts with winning the second round of this series Amazing and good job by the whole Celtics on the defense end and the offense end of the floor.This is what the Celtics is supposed to do if they want to keep advancing to the third and the fourth when the NBA championship takes place. And including beating who is awaiting them in the finals.

Jrue is the key to celts winning. Hes not flashy and probably not going to score 30 points but he will lock down the opposing offense thus giving the 1,2,and 3 starters their points.
I like this show for many reasons, one of which is they actually talk about the game and the currently important players. They don't just say "hey, Celtics won, but did you hear about LeBron doing XYZ?"
That one loss against the Heat is gonna look like Iverson stealing a game against the unstoppable Lakers in retrospect.

I had Derrick White on my fantasy basketball team when he was with the Spurs. He came in clutch when I needed him to.
White and Brown coming up big. Holiday played great too. Tatum had issues shooting but did other things to help out. This was a nice team win. Let’s not forget big Al.
And don’t forget those killer minutes from 3rd sting center Luke Kornet.
I am a life long Celtic fan . I enjoy watching this GREAT TEAM Brad Stevens has put together. He was awarded appropriately for that this year.

I agree w/ Chuck on Jrue. I think the Jrue has made White better. At some point, the 3's aren't going to fall though and they're going to have to get points inside. Tatum hasn't been shooting well, and I'm wondering if his ankle may be more bothersome than he's letting on, but he's been playing D and getting some assists. So I'm hoping he's just not forcing it and giving it up to White.
Everyone is harping on Tatum, which is weird because his defense has been vastly more important and is what's helping, plus the reason why he is shooting so poorly is because they are focusing on him

I don’t understand why people are hating on Jayson Tatum meanwhile he’s facilitating the ball really well during this postseason, he’s making sure that gets his teammates involved early by passing and rebounding. He’s nearly averaging a triple double a game. Between Jaylen , Jrue and White those guys been playing at high level which is very important knowing that Porzingis is probably out for this series. Also can’t leave out Big Al , PP and Hauser those guys been giving great minutes off the bench which is very important. Celtics in 4-5 🍀

Unless they get Mitchell a LEGIT 2nd superstar to pair with, Cavs will never make a deep run. Darius isnt that right #2. He's just not that guy. Cavs need another scoring dominant player other than Mitchell. Unless the Celtics have a REALLY REALLY off night, they sweep this series in 4. Celtics are too good for them. Brown and Tatum are a damn good trio.

Celtics played great D, but even so, Cavs - HAVE TO - hit their open jumpers and threes to give themselves a chance. Celtics on the other hand were hitting their threes all over the court, which lead to the blowout. Mark Jackson's "it's a make or miss league" always rings true. Luka and Kylie can make it a series. So boring I think not. You must have never watched Luka a possible mvp play or Kylie the sickest handles in the game. The Celtics and caps I'll give you. Also young teams in the playoffs usually don't last so I wouldn't pencil in the thunder just yet. Young teams have gaffes and play sloppy in postseason because they have no poise. Don't usually make it all the way. Experience usually counts quite a bit.

this is gonna be the most boring NBA finals this year. The east is significantly worse than the West. At this point any team on the east can get to the finals and will still lose to the west. Nuggets, OKC, Timberwolves are all a lot better and bigger in size than any team other left on the east.

Cleveland weakness is not having really any great perimeter defenders and they are undersized on the wings especially against a team like Boston. You see how Jaylen Brown easily was able to drive to the rim and dunk without much resistance. Only chance Cavs have is hope Boston is having an off shooting night and outscore them. Mitchell, Garland, Strus, Niang, Levert have to shoot extremely well. Mobley has to play bigger and Mitchell has to drive and kick
