VERY late to this party, but as soon as he hits the first..."Can I lay...," it's like someone turned on the water faucet behind my eyes and nose. But Mid-Size Sedan did hit it - it helps to have performed it before. It's like when you parents have passed...you don't cry -- as hard or as much -- the more time passes. The emotion is still there...so as long as he lets a little in each time he sings it, you get the same response.
This really shouldn't be possible. His voice is liquid gold. The best male voice of all time, without a doubt.

this song never fails to make me cry. its so full of emotion and is sung so beautifully its overwhelming. at the beginning i feel the pain and the soul that went into the lyrics but by the end, im left with a smile on my face that could only be explained by the sheer extravagance of this artist. Omg people usually sound worse when its live but Sam Smith my God he is unbelievebly talanted.
The part that hit me the most is you can tell hes hurting in this performance...the way hes swaying back and forth as if a child needing to be rocked by its mother, the red eyes, and the shakiness in his voice towards the very end.

it's 2019 and i still can't stop listening to this one...
The song didn't really make it for me, but his voice was so incredibly amazing that I had to like it. Exceptional performance, outstanding and magnificent! He really is one of the best singers alive and even though his music in general isn't really my taste I have huge respect for him and kind of like his music anyway. I mean, you can't say that it's bad music and his voice is amazing so I could just listen to that everyday.
