I was wondering why this interview was so interesting and immersive, and I think it's because it doesn't feel like an interview. It's a conversation between two (very talented) friends. And of course their conversation is fascinating.
I met Carey Mulligan once when I was 18 in London, just talked for a minute, but I was bowled over as I was obsessed with her performance in Shame. She is one of the loveliest people I've ever met.
Both of these actors should have at least one Oscar by now. Her for either An Education or Promising Young Woman and he for There Will Be Blood or Love and Mercy.
I have so much respect for Paul Dano as a fellow cinephile. He knows his film And I love Carrry Mulligan as well. I remember watching Steve McQueens Shame and first starting recognizing Mulligan in that role
I had no idea that Carey and Paul previously worked together. They seem to get on swimmingly offscreen, which is always great to see. Interestingly enough, both "Wildlife" and "The Fabelmans" feature a couple's marriage hitting the rocks.
Lovely to see two of the actors I most admire. Dano's Wildlife is a hugely underrated movie. I can also see Carey making the leap into production or direction in the future.
Is it a paul dano movie if he doesn’t at least get hit or tossed around at least once? Paul dano’s character’s being hit is the equivalent of brad pitt eating in all his movies or tom cruise running
They probably have seen each other but it's titled that way for the sake of the video. But also likely they haven't seen each other as often over those 5 years seeing as 3 of them were during a pandemic.
I never thought that Paul was going to play the Riddler in The Batman movie, but he amazed me as much as Pattinson's Batman. However, Jim Carrey had mixed thoughts on Dano's Riddler when he saw The Batman because it was a dark version. Frankly, it's normal debating about who's the best Riddler because, they're two different versions of one single character. Moreover, I'm not a fan of Carey, but her performance amazed everyone in the film SHAME, she must've won an Oscar with her co-star "Michael Fassbender.
I am so into this version of Paul Dano leaning into his stardom. The dude has been immensely talented for a very long time.

agreed, wish more were like this!
The more I watch Paul Dano the more delighted I get. He is able to talk about his choices so well. And Carey Mulligan is brilliant.
Paul Dano is so underrated it’s almost criminal

Paul Dano is a natural at this. He switches between interviewer and interviewee with such ease.
Mulligan should have been nominated for an Oscar for her performance in Wildlife.
💯

The fact that 2018 is now officially 5 YEARS AGO is absolutely mind-boggling. Jesus Christ.
such a lovely interview. theyre so great!
Paul Dano is one intense actor! Simply terrific!
I adore Carey, she's brilliant and seems to be very humble.
This is the most comfortable and unserious (in a good way😅) I’ve seen Carey. Love her personality

Carey's not in The Fabelmans
@@filmtoppings No one said she was
Paul worked with Carey on Wildlife as a director.
And they also worked on a new movie called "Spaceman" which will be released this year 👀
my gosh i love these actors. so much respect
such an easy watch. not all interviews have unskippable conversations.
yes it is so beautifully edited too
i am so in love with him
paul dano my love

Both are wholesome and sweet
THIS WAS A GREAT CONVERSATION!
i like how he uses the "old man" to reunite when he gave you
I Love Carey’s sweet “oh no!” reaction when she finds out that Paul did not have his eyes closed at the beginning of the video.
Great conversation with these two. Love them!
This guy NOT being nominated for an Oscar for "THERE WILL BE BLOOD" is a CRIME!!
How the f Paul Dano is almost 40 now.
I know that he has worked like two decades, but somehow i just tought that he is barely 30.
If that was the case, he would've been a literal child in there will be blood.
Is it a paul dano movie if he doesn’t at least get hit or tossed around at least once? Paul dano’s character’s being hit is the equivalent of brad pitt eating in all his movies or tom cruise running
He doesn’t get hit in the fabelmans but he gets emotionally destroyed
@@GiantSandles also in love and mercy
brings me back to their actor x actor at tiff 2018
Wildlife is so underrated.
Someone needs to cast Dano and Cumberbatch as brothers
Paul Dano talking about doing genre fiction is such a mean tease. I can just imagine him reuniting with Denis Villeneuve for a great scifi film.
THE MOVIE IS SO UNDERRATED!
THESE TWO ARE SO FUNNY TOGETHER!
I literally got the Criterion Blu-ray for Wildlife yesterday and this comes out, what are the odds
Paul Dano hosting SNL when??
🔥🔥🔥Paul DANO 🔥🔥🔥
five years ago is so crazy
I need them to play an married couple in an movie ❤
carey is wholesome
Nice sequel to the variety video
Where is this guys academy award
I love this video.
her laugh ughh
I'v always had a soft spot for her and it's definitely just her dilmples.
How can you be close friends with his wife, yet have not seen him in 5 years?
They probably have seen each other but it's titled that way for the sake of the video. But also likely they haven't seen each other as often over those 5 years seeing as 3 of them were during a pandemic.

The Batman was great
Such wonderful actors, they are basically (already) cult status among their colleagues.

What was keeping them a part?
Life maybe?
Dano looking older. Soon to be full on Liam Neeson
