    After watching the video, I did my first marbling on a custom split butt with blue & yellow, it gave me a green and yellow with blue natural pattern, it was a great success, I sold the rod at a good price. Thanks to Mudhole & the video..

    Nice work. I did not know how to do marbling. I use for smoothing the wrapping finish my very old Japanese Hitachi made 2 speed hair dry with infrared. I never saw so high quality hair dryer and perfect for my rod finishing. I have heat gun, but no comparable. For mixing 2 parts the best way small or large quantity to push the bottle and count drop by drop and it always perfect than squeezing. it's always gave me perfect combination.

    To make without-air bubble and thinner and I put that plastic cup with epoxy mixer as in the clip over hot water and it mixes quickly and bubbleless and thinner solution.

    You can use any rod building epoxy finish.this finish is flexable and will not crack when bent.

    @MudHoleCustomTackle you used what to paint the blank white ? (regular spray paint) or something else

  • @wheels.and.wrenches
    @wheels.and.wrenches 9 років тому

    Its prob white paint. You can use Krylon Fusion spray paint to spray the blank whatever color you want before you add your graphics, wraps and decals. Then coat the entire rod in clear epoxy to seal everything.

    What pigment? Acrylic? Oil base? It’s self leveling... I wanna see it have the deep finish like a nice painted hot rod you can see the depth in the paint and finish

    I looked through the comments and I haven't seen where anyone has asked about whether this cracks while fishing as the rod bends? Can you use regular epoxy or does it have to be with this kit I am wondering as well.

    Since you have so much experience and are such a purist(elitest),maybe instead of criticizing someone elses video,you should do your own videos on rod building and show your techniques.That is if you do actually build custom rods,no videos on your page of any of your rods,so at this point,we have to take your word for it.

    By the way,unless you're designing and using your own rod blanks,you are nothing more than a handle installer and guide wrapper.
