Thank you so much Jeff for answering all these questions including mine. Good news, I finally received my hot tub end of January this year. I am very happy with the hot spring jetsetter. It really works great. I appreciate all your advices on hot tubs you have issued. I sure have learned a lot about it. Thanks again.

Absolutely love the videos! One thing you've taught me is to sanitize with my bromine tabs and shock it with chlorine. Interested to try it!

Love your channel--thank you! I switched to a salt system recently and will never go back to bromine/chlorine. I was having constant problems with rashes and dry skin and smells and biofilm and constant chemicals--they're all gone! The water feels MUCH softer and more natural (almost like a mineral spring), makes your skin soft, smells less, is easier to regulate, has eliminated rashes and dry skin and bio-film and the need for shock. Just add pool salt, hang the chorine-maker in the water and set the level. Done!
It's revolutionized my whole experience with hot tubs--absolutely worth the cost of the chlorine maker and a bag of salt.
Tips: It continues to make chlorine, so if you don't use the tub for a day or two, turn DOWN the level--an easy learning curve.

what's your recommendation for filter cycles? How many per day? How long should they be?

I need HELP! I’m a tiny, single woman and have health issues, so I hope you can help me or I’m dumping this hot tub!
You almost answered my question in this video. It’s about the gritty film inside my hot tub. I have been told it’s my water because I’m on a city well, and it’s pretty well-known that the water here isn’t great. I have a water softener in the house.
Backing up.... I inherited a 325 gallon hot tub that’s quite old, but in great condition (until I got ahold of it!) when I bought my house, and the former owner used BaquaSpa. I decided to purge it and used Ahhsome. Lots of stuff came out, so I did it a few times and cleaned everything. First, I used a cleaner for the sides that the owner had left. Then, a hot tub repairman told me to use Softscrub. It worked, but my local dealer winced that I was told to do this. I hope I didn’t ruin it.
So...starting fresh, I used a filter on my hose, got premium filters, filled the tub, etc. but I still kept getting a deposit on the inside of the tub. I also tried to fill up my hot tub with the water from inside the house.
So....(again) since I have health issues, I wanted a salt water spa, so I took your advice and bought the salt water converter that you recommended, the Smart Chlorinator (or something). Anyway, I now have a REALLY bad deposit on the entire inside of my hot tub. I’m thinking it’s from too much salt. But, it’s been so cold here in Michigan, that I haven’t attempted to try to get it off yet.
I took a sample in to my nearby hot tub place, and I had a LOT of chlorine.
I bought a pillow to put over the drain, which is supposed to keep the mineral deposits down, but it’s been too cold to check anything, but it’s warming up.
I can’t seem to find answers to my unique problems.
    1) After I drain my tub soon, how do I get the inside of my hot tub clean from the deposits? Is it possible? Is there some type of protector that will keep the sides clean?
    2) What type of salt is recommended?
    3) After I fill the tub up again after I drain it soon, what do I do first with the salt water? Do I balance the PH? Then, do I add chlorine, or no?
    4) What would you recommend to balance the water?
    THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP!

Thanks Jeff for answering my question on in-line system. Currently using a non chlorine shock so may try shocking with a chlorine treatment to see if it helps and also noted your comment re this on clarity of the water itself. Thanks again and keep up your good work. 👍

Thanks for your very informative videos. If i have the hot tub on the deck can i drain it in the kitchen sink, since the deck is just outside the kitchen/dining area. Would put the garden hose through the kitchen window to the sink?

Thank you for all the informative videos you produce, I've been subscribed to your channel for about 5 months now. I live in the U.K and I brought my Canadian Spa Niagara hot tub last year and had it installed in November, including my own hot tub I've only ever used a hot tub during the colder months. My question is... is it bad to soak in a hot tub in the middle of summer in U.K summer temperatures of anything from 25 to 35 or even 38 degrees C? Would I need to lower my hot tub temperature for summer use by a large amount? At the moment I run it at max temperature of 40 degrees C and we typically soak for around 1 hour at the moment. I'd be grateful for your advice on this.

HI Jeff, I am watching the video and you are answering my question about the gritty feel after I filled the tub up the 2nd time,. I did not use any cleaning product when I drained the tub the first time. So either it is the PH or the fact that I have super hard water or both. If the PH is not reading hi on test strips, could that be a false negative?

Volts x Amps=wts. Wts per hour is the amount of time your heater is on. 120v x 12a=1440wts. Assume the heater is on 6 hours(havent the foggiest how long it actually runs. I know my blow up takes an hour per degree to heat up) 1440x6=8640 wts. So 8.6Kwh. For tier 2, kWh is $.23. So, to run 6 hours @ 120v would be $1.40 +/-

I have a question when I use a scale biofilms remover and I use a sump pump to get rid of most of the water should I use the drain valve to remove the water from the pipes because I know the sump pump doesn’t pump that out or is it safe just to use a sump pump and then refill

Bio film cleaner/cleanser. Oh Yuck brand hot tub cleaner is what Jeff recommends. Add per the instructions and cycle your tub for an hour, then drain and refill and treat.

I have the opportunity to buy a 2004 hot springs envoy hot tub for $100. It has a 2020 control panel and a new heater. The owner mentioned it does have a leak but not from the shell. It will cost me $800 to have it transported to my house. Do you think this would be a worth the buy?

Should I fill my hot tub with soft water or regular tap water

    • @balrog006

Regular tap water, unless you have tested your softened water and know it’s chemistry is compatible with your spa.
