Ah man if it were me I'd be going for a Triumph Dolomite 1850, it's like the Spitfire but so much more refined and dependable, and has been such a good car for eating up the miles on long journeys. Did a 1000 mile/16 hour road trip up to Scotland and back in mine to collect another Dolly and both performed flawlessly
However I don't think that's gonna be your coming car given it's the same era as the Allegro (you mentioned it'd be somewhere halfway between the Jazz and the Allegro) and has twin carbs which you did mention can be a hassle (I don't really know what I'm doing either but they've not been to bad to sort)
A more serious guess would be then perhaps a Austin Montego? Late 1980s goodness with dependable fuel injection and a 5th gear for those long trips? Maybe a Triumph Acclaim with the Honda Ballade reliability? Maybe even something more recent than that like a R8 Rover or SD3... Or something a bit bigger and ealier like an SD1 ooh

@@RUNDEN_ all sounds good! Love the Dolomite story, always loved them and will definitely have one some day. Probably a smaller engined Dolomite though. Yours sounds really nice

A little more tension on the belt is all you need. Sprays are a useless waste of money.

Cars look great. Shame about the stone chip. Looks a nasty one! My 2006 jazz sport has done 118k now.i only do about 3k a year as i work from home. I saw one on ebay with a whopping 249k on it few months ago. My guess is a Rover 25.
