Excellent demo wish all guitar demos were this good. Demo ing a guitar with tons of distortion tells you zero about tone. The Pissaro sounds superb. as did the T59v.
@@starrynightguitars Hi Rich. Yes, thanks for stopping by my channel. I genuinely really like the Katana. And the more I played it, the more I liked the clean channel (Gain knob full up for the warmth and fatness). And the less I liked the other channels. The only reason I sold it was because I was falling back in love with valves. It’s a really great amp though and a worthy addition to anyone’s collection. Cheers Rich
@@paulstaffordcook8799 - thanks for the response Paul. I’ve had a Katana 100 for about 3 years but I mostly use it in my house. When I gig now, it’s just solo guitar so only clean settings & very soft volumes. I haven’t really ever used it with a band but would like to. All the best in the new year!
Hi Rich. Really enjoyed part two. I lean more towards a brighter tone for jazz. Have you experimented with raising the Pisano’s neck pickup on the bass side a bit, or raising the pole pieces on that side a little? Would be interesting to hear both instruments through a different amp such as a valve one or something like a polytone or equivalent. Thanks for this 🙂
Thanks! I wish I had a Polytone! I had one back in the early 80’s but it got stolen. I’d like to get a Henriksen or a Quilter now. I will give a try to raising the bass side of the neck pickup.
I have an older Eastman, 2006... I think. The guitar is an AR803. I did a refret and put in fatter and taller frets. John Carruther's and his team did that work when I lived in LA. I also replaced the pickup to a shadow AZ49. Lastly, I run my guitar through a simple boost pedal. I like a brighter tone as well, but crafting that tone has been a lifelong journey. I have some low quality videos on my channel--check out "Stella, by Cafe" Light and "Here's that Rainy, Seattle, Day." My tone is brighter now than it was there--challenging to get the bright tone to work--but the players that really mastered a bright tone sound great! Bobby Broom comes to mind, as does Graham Dechter (for guitarists still alive and well).
@@pickinstone - when I play live I use a Xotic RC booster as a clean boost. I find that it doesn't affect the tone but just gives a little volume boost. I love it!

Thanks very much Paul. Yes, both of these guitars are a joy to play.
That T59V….. wow, that’s just the perfect shade of red. It genuinely looks like an old vintage 335 from the 60’s. 👌
Thanks Paul. Yes, it’s a thing of beauty and plays like a dream.
Hi Paul! I watched one of your videos awhile back of you playing through a Katana. Great sounds but I now see you got rid of it.
Great channel!
