Thank you so much for uttering those words in quotation marks.. you don't need to turn it for it to snap in place... Been working on this for more than an hour trying to get it to click to the right because the LG site video says you're supposed to click it to the right. Thanks for ending my nightmare..
For anyone new. 1.) you do not have to shut the water off 2.) if you have trouble pulling out the filter, remove the shelf underneath to open the latch all the way
Jonathan Shaatal thank you...you just saved me ........20 minutes later and 5 minutes away from breaking this!....I removed the shelf and it came right out
Thank you...I wish I would have read through to this comment...my kids had a ball watching me try to get this filter out until my kiddo suggested removing the shelf! Presto - popped right out after that.
Good video. I was having probs pulling the old one out. The top shelf kept the filter from coming down all the way and unlocking. I moved the shelf down and the filter pulled out
Remember to pull the water filter housing all the way down past the pressure stop. That's when the check valve closes and you can up twist the filter and pull it out.
Thank you so much for this comment!! I just brought my home and the seller included all appliances in the sale so I was blessed with this beautiful fridge. The day after closing, the alarm to change the filter started beeping and so I went and bought one but this video scared me cause if I got to move that big beast to shut of the water it would never happen 😁
I've actually changed those before just wanted to come by and show my support and thank you for stopping by my channel and my livestream I will be supporting and your bell was off I turned it on
Well, having experienced a flood from a faulty GE fridge when changing a filter, I would recommend turning the water supply line off if you can. Trust me when I say that turning it off before the flood is a whole lot easier than turning it off as your house and basement are being flooded. Good day.
Just run fist about 3 gallons of water after install it,then water tastes much better than before. Works just like the original filter and it's cheaper
Lol... it may appear to be only one hole... but the short of it... how it works. There is actually a center tube that is smaller in diameter that the "single" main hole that serves as a "return" for the fresh water. The water enters in the filter through the main hole... then channels the water to the center tube. I hope that makes sense.... Thanks for the question and watching.
There is an inlet on the back of the refrigerator... turn off water source then cut the hose (inlet) and buy an in-line water filter type... put in in between the cut tube (plastic or metal tube)... let me know if you need link for the inline filter
Don’t force it out.... the old filter must swing all the way down. Remove the Top shelf... then you can swing the filter down even more... then it will come off easy.
Be careful on pulling it , on mine I had to twist to the right about a half turn . Could’ve been in a whole heap of trouble with all those plastic parts holding the filter .
We purchased our lg French door refrigerator in 1912 we replaced the compressor it cost us about $ 750 to have it replaced the major problem we head is with the ice maker it has never worked properly I wished we had purchased a different brand
How can I reset the “replace filter “ after I replace the filter. The icon still blinks. After I change the filter. The indicator In the front door panel keep blinking when I open the refrigerator.
I always err at the side of caution! I see people commenting not needed. I say shut it... if you have easy access to the valve. I don’t want water everywhere.
@@cbatilo ok thanks, mine is just down 2 flights in the basement and I have a broken foot, so I think I'm going to chance may having to clean up a little water. I just wanted to make sure it would not cause an air in the line or broken line.

@@cbatilo Do those types of unboxing videos relate to how to open an amazon box with filters in it? I feel like the process would be a bit different, no? :)
That's a big knife for a small job. Norris inspired? You blocked our view when you turned off the water supply. You didn't even speak what you did. Assumed you PULLED UP on the T-valve head.
First there is no need to turn water supply off on any LG unit. Second good luck with your made in China filter ??? Spend a little more and be assured of proper filtration and that the light goes off.
Sorry to hear... make sure you do not twist... also make sure you take off the shelves... the filter must be all the way down downward angle. You cannot take it out if it is not all the way down

We got these filters from Amazon. Here is my Amazon Associate link: amzn.to/3mfTqUy

As has been said, You don't need to turn off the water supply. No need to get a hernia trying to pull out your refrigerator.
Really?
Thank you for mentioning that because that's the first thing I wanted to know. Couldn't imagine that was necessary. 👍
Damn just ran into this problem.. and you sir provided the solution. Thank you so much!!
Used this brand for years, saved a lot cost and works just well as LG filter, keep posting

Thanks for that demo it helped me change out my filter on my new LG refrigerator.
I would like to add: Remove the shelf if you can't open the latch all the way like he does in the video. Also, I did not have to turn the water off.

Just so you know you don’t have to turn off the water to replace the filter it’s got a safety shut off when changing out filter.

Nothing to do with the freezer. Howeve, the ice maker gets the filtered water

Awesome, very informative. thanks for sharing, left you thumbs up and full view. Happy Monday :-)

Great video. What's your opinion on Genuine LG filters verses Aftermarket ones? They are quite a bit more expensive I know that!
If I were you go to Home Depot and get their HDX filters. You’ll get two for the price of one and the filters are NSF certified.
I found Waterdrop filters to be great, and they're available on Amazon too
Typically you don't need to turn the water off to change the filter. Id this REQUIRED for LG's?
What happens if u do t turn off the water source? Will water spray out?
Nope… this model and most do not need the water turned off. No need to turn it off
A 4 pack! How many refrigerators do you have?
Where can I get those filters cause home depot wants 65 dollars for one
Thanks this helped me.
Chuck Norris is the ultimate American bad ass
Wrong, Wrong, WRONG!!!
No need to turn off the water source.
The frig will automatically cut off the water when the filter was pull out.
to be safe, turn water off like in video so you don't damage anything
My LG fridge is an LFX 319 45 ST/07 (a newer model to the one showed in the video). Do I still need to shut the water before changing the filter?
You do... you will get water everywhere - squirting

No
