especially cause Junie B. could have easily been a narcissistic demon who the reader is supposed to be mad/annoyed with, she's flawed and individualist (as most children are) and improves when she's taught correctly and approached as an intelligent human, not a stupid child.
@@ambabey0330 Well, I mean, the books are _for_ kids around Junie B.'s age, so I don't think the goal would've ever been for the reader to find her annoying. But a lot of IP's try to make relatable/realistic kid characters and _fail,_ so I'm glad these books didn't fall into that trap.
@ i would disagree, as a lot of kid's media in modern times tends to have obnoxious, selfish main characters that are meant to be insufferable to either entertain kids or exaggerate comeuppance. hence why athena is so pleasantly surprised that junie b is so likably written.
The "Where's the bus going to" interaction from Stupid Smelly Bus spoke to my SOUL as a kid. Adults really will just... not acknowledge kids questions sometimes. Also when I was little I didn't know how the whole Miss Ms. Mrs. thing worked and in my head the teacher's name was consistently pronounced "miss" and I didn't find out I was wrong until watching Lulaloopsey and Athena's videos now as an adult.
And like, little kids are the ones who are doing most of this stuff for the first time, of course they have questions. You would too if you barely even knew what a bus is and no one will tell you where you're going or even listen to you.

I don’t realize that I had read so many of her books. Junie B was (AND STILL IS) the most relatable character I had ever read, and is truly iconic ♥ The book about the teacher stealing grapes is always haunting me (and I HATE Mrs)
Junie B Jones was one of the few books I got as a gift that really made me excited growing up. I’ve never been a book person, but when I got glasses, my parents got me the Junie B book where she got glasses and I felt very seen.
I read these books like the gosh darn bible as a kid; spent a lot of time reading them outloud to my mom too when she was driving and we'd laugh. Junie B was truly an icon. Also though this made me think of another book series I loved just as much, also a slice of life series with a girl who grew up through the series... Ramona by Beverly Cleary-- if you ever did a lore video on them I'd be so happy lol they're a bit of a different vibe but very fun! She has her own way of thinking too
When I was in 1st grade, I went to see the Junie B Jones musical for a school field trip. It's the only memory I can think of whenever Junie B Jones is mentioned. The props fascinated younger me but I don't remember much of what it looked like.
At my elementary school sometimes every other year they’d come and do a Junie B Jones themed play. I don’t remember my peers enjoying it as much but I adored these shows. (It wasn’t anything like the musical- oh my goodness)
I remember watching a movie that i think was supposed to be about her (or at the time i thought it was) and i got really emotional about it but the only things i remember was the cat dying and her sister? Babysitting? Told her to bite m&ms heads first so they die quickly and mostly painlessly
It was probably Ramona and Beezus, also based on a children’s series and the main character has an overactive imagination like Junie B. It’s also a very good series!
That movie is Ramona and Beezus. There was never a Junie B Jones movie (A tv show based on the books was announced in 2021 but it’s currently stuck in development hell)
I have a core memory of when I was a little kid of my mom reading out that one book where Junie B. tries being a hairdresser. After she cut off the bunny slippers fuzz my mom did a really weird voice with the line “We’re baldies!!” And it gets referenced in my family all the time :)
30:00 our drama teacher seemed cool. I was not a drama student, but he also did history class, and he would often act things out. He seemed really fun and cool.
Honestly having you read excerpts has reminded me how much I loved and related to Junie as a kid. I had nearly the whole series, and I'd get a box set at every book fair Sadly my mom insisted on me giving them away to my cousin 😭😭😭😭
In first grade I did group reading and that's how I found out I love it and also I read way too far ahead. I started visiting the library and Junie b Jones books were the first ones I ever read and my favorite. I remember memories of it vividly. I loved Junie so much, like she was my idol.
With the books and everything. I think Junie B would make an outstanding childrens cartoon series. At least two seasons following the book series. Bam. Instant banger.
My sister and I came up with a concept for a dark and gritty crime drama involving the Junie B. Cast. Grace and Ollie were on the police force, Lucille was the mob boss that owned the police, and Junie gets framed for a crime, and Jim is like a PI/bounty hunter and is helping her prove her innocence while they also hunt down the real criminals. I also remember as a kid I kinda shipped Junie and Lucille's older brother, so obviously we've got an love triangle with Junie, Jim, and the brother
So...Junie B means a lot to me. My Grandma (RIP) was a very kind woman, but also very stern. I spent a lot of time at her house as a kid, and we didn't see eye to eye on a lot of the things I liked at the time. She hated Spongebob, thought Hannah Montana was annoying, and didn't get the general concept of Club Penguin or Webkinz. Reading Junie B with her was the first time I ever saw her genuinely laugh out loud. She adored those books (and the Wimpy Kid series). It was magical, and I will always treasure those memories.
The Junie B. Jones books played an integral part in my childhood. When I was younger, I used to listen to the audiobooks to help me fall asleep at night. It makes me really happy to see someone dive into the lore of it.
I'm a second grade teacher, and honestly. This video makes me wanna try to be one of the few good theater teachers. But what if it's like the One Ring, and the job corrupts me???
Ngl, same Athena P.! I re-read some books I had from the series and realized "I was Junie B. 😮" My sister (partner-in-crime) attests to my "story" 'cause she's only 2 years younger, but remembers stuff more clearly than me 😅
When I was in elementary school, my mom bought me one of those tiny little Amazon Kindle tablets and downloaded a bunch of books onto it for me to try, including almost all of the Junie B. Jones books and I was OBSESSED! I loved her outfits, I loved her strong personality, and I loved how there was a book for any topic, like when my tooth was loose, I could read about her tooth being loose, or if I was scared of something, I could read the monster one. THANK YOU for talking about how frustrating it was when the adults ignored her or didn't properly help her manage her emotions, I always wanted to hug her even as a child
OH MY GOSH these books spoke to me when i was like around Junie B's age I'm so happy ppl still talk abt it Also Im so suprised she doesnt canonically have adhd, I've always thought she did!!
This was literally my favorite book series as a child! I recently gave some of my old Junie B. Jones books to my little sister. And she loves the series, too! Edit: I bought some of the other Junie B. Jones books, since the ones I had were both from the kindergarten and first grade books. So, I made sure it made sense, lorewise, for her.
I don’t know why but the whole Judy B tantrum on the bus thing kinda remind me of me in high school when I cried because of my teacher Miss G and she said Hunter kids in high school don’t cry …… also i’m gonna be honest this is the first time I ever heard of Judy B Jones
Man I haven't thought about this book since elementary school my second grade teacher loved these books and would read them to us all the time and I didn't think I remembered that much until you were reading passages 😭 I think you should check out the Magic Treehouse books because they go completely insane after a couple of books
I just remembered these books like 4 days ago when I saw them in the background of someones short, and now THIS!? These books (along with magic tree house) were my autistic fixation throughout elementary school and I'm so glad they are getting some love again~
OMG!!! I remember I won a contest in elementary school and got a Julie B. Jones book. (The Lunch Lady one) and I remember I loved it! This just gave me INTENSE nostalgia.
the bus thing in the first book was so real! i’m so glad my mom answered most of questions growing up and informed me about my life bc i was an anxious child. Junie B. handled it better than me tbh. I would’ve been reduced to tears in her position
43:12 Funnily enough Nickelodeon announced in 2021 that they were going to make a Junie B Jones tv show (though nothing has been announced since then so it’s likely stuck in development hell)
I also had a principal who cheated on his wife with a school staff member. Only she was our guidance counselor. They divorced their spouses and got married. The guidance counselor even took his name. Real awkward. Men really ain't shit.
Youth Services Librarian here! I love to see an appreciation for this series that's captured the hearts of readers especially when we have parents who genuinely won't allow their kids to read her books because it makes them "misbehave"
its honestly a serious problem like how most adults treat kids is horrible. kids are constantly judged and punished but they literally just started being alive they dont know anything and they are just scared
I can’t wait to watch this with my mom and listen to her quote every single line from each book back to front just like when I watched the Miss Spider video with her. 😊
It made me so happy to see this video, these were some of my favorite books as a kid I never thought I'd get to re-live them again. This channel is magical please never stop what you are doing here
This was one of my favorite series as a child, thanks for covering it. It also inspired me to write two of my own books but with my own personal experiences. They were never published and they were pretty bad but they were also pretty funny and me and my family got a good laugh out of them. I hope to find the two Originals again because I wanted to read them again😂
I currently work at a daycare and omg is Junie B. So realistic. The kids LITERALLY (and I mean like some stuff is practically word for word) act like her

I saw one of those!
@@lexiepound1062you’re right! It was Ramona and Beezus. I remember the movie too. Ramona Quimby Lore anyone? 👀
Hair is absolutely slaying in this video, queen 👑✨
30:00 our drama teacher seemed cool. I was not a drama student, but he also did history class, and he would often act things out. He seemed really fun and cool.
OMG YESSSSS, this is the only thing I've actually seen as a kid that you've covered so far😭
Honestly having you read excerpts has reminded me how much I loved and related to Junie as a kid. I had nearly the whole series, and I'd get a box set at every book fair
Sadly my mom insisted on me giving them away to my cousin 😭😭😭😭
In first grade I did group reading and that's how I found out I love it and also I read way too far ahead. I started visiting the library and Junie b Jones books were the first ones I ever read and my favorite. I remember memories of it vividly. I loved Junie so much, like she was my idol.
The fact that junie didn’t even understand that why her grandma called the baby a monkey made me wheeze as a kid lol
The universal childhood impulse to take the media we consume and make months long stories containing genocide levels of violence and intrigue
Oh wow, ready for childhood nostalgia to hit me in the face! Used to read this in elementary school a lot.
I have some very solid memories of the Junie B. Jones Leapster game rattlin' around in the ol' noggin somewhere, good times
Yess!! She was voiced and animated in that game!!!
This book series was my childhood. My mom used to read my brother and I these books every night before bed
I loved her as a kid! I always thought her birthday should be June 13th. Because it's Junie!
OHHHHH!!! YES!!!!
YEAAA WOOOOO (I’ve been waiting for this collab)
Junie B is so freaking hilarious! And YOU’RE hilarious, it’s just all so funny!
OH MY GOSH these books spoke to me when i was like around Junie B's age I'm so happy ppl still talk abt it
Also Im so suprised she doesnt canonically have adhd, I've always thought she did!!
Did I expect my two favorite nostalgia creators to collab? No. Am I going to stop everything I was doing to watch it. Hell yeah!
was having a rough night, as a guy who loved the books as a kid, loved the video, gave me a huge nostalgia trip :)
So exicited for this second Athena and Lulua collab!!! We need more of these
This is literally a dream collab please do more
I'm sloshed right now, but I gotta say, your makeup is gorgeous and this video gave me a heart attack😂
I freaking love this book series! I still have all books!
I love that you are finally talking about this UNFILTERED QUEEN!
I really enjoy growing up with the books :) I remember when my second grade took a field trip to see the Junie B. Musical,it was a wild time😂
"You're just like her like reincarneted🎉"
"😍Oh thank yo- *oh wait she DIED?!?!* 😨"
im so sat for this video omg collab of the year
48:00 honestly after having to deal with Junie in her class everyday, “grape juice” would be my favorite drink as well
43:12 Funnily enough Nickelodeon announced in 2021 that they were going to make a Junie B Jones tv show (though nothing has been announced since then so it’s likely stuck in development hell)
I also had a principal who cheated on his wife with a school staff member. Only she was our guidance counselor. They divorced their spouses and got married. The guidance counselor even took his name. Real awkward.
Men really ain't shit.
oh yikes
Youth Services Librarian here! I love to see an appreciation for this series that's captured the hearts of readers especially when we have parents who genuinely won't allow their kids to read her books because it makes them "misbehave"
its honestly a serious problem like how most adults treat kids is horrible. kids are constantly judged and punished but they literally just started being alive they dont know anything and they are just scared
EXACTLY IT REALLY UPSETS ME
I’m just so glad to see other people passionate about this
I can’t wait to watch this with my mom and listen to her quote every single line from each book back to front just like when I watched the Miss Spider video with her.
The kids LITERALLY (and I mean like some stuff is practically word for word) act like her
5 minutes into watching this video, and I'm already shedding tears of nostalgia. I completely forgot how important this book series was to me. Thank you so much! ❤😂🎉
