I think you doing a basic video on creating quick, easy to use forms from basic shapes in blender to create certain objects that can be used in a comic/art work flow would be awesome and extremely helpful to many. I've been using blender the last year and I started incorporating it into my work flow and it helped immensely. Thanks for another great video, Tim!

I've been integrating 3d into my comics and it's been a time saver! On a different note, I would love to learn more about how you vary the lines between the background and the characters. I don't know if you made a video like that in the past but for me, I always struggle with how to draw a background while keeping the character as the main focus.

    Hey Tim!
A lot of useful information here in this video!!!
If there is demand for you to do a short introduction to sketch up and to blender for comic book artists, maybe it would be a good oportunity for you to do another of those mini workshops that bring people closer to buying your Line and Color Academy course. I’d imagine that takes more of your time than simple videos for youtube, but I’m sure you are the best one positioned to weight what is the best option to go for.
If you ever get around to modeling that mondra V station, you should record that for either the mini workshop or a sort of Art Ritual episode.
I’m loving th format of the series, I’d just like to have a demo at the end where you do a illustration or a comic page where you put these concepts in practicee. I know that there are already some of these on the channel, but they are mostly for exterior scenes and not interiors. I think that a demo after the teaching serves well for both your explanation as well as for we, your students, understanding.
I’m sure it will take a long time, so I don’t see any problem in you breaking that process in 3 or 4 videos and 3 or 4 sittings as well. You could use it to your advantage doing the planning in one video, rough in another, lines on the following and so on, to really drive the concept of process home. Maybe that could be another mini workshop if you think that’s valid.
Cheer’s man! I hope you hit 100k subscribers soon, you deserve much more than that!

Tim- thank you so much for your generosity in sharing your process and how you think. Your approach to explaining is invaluable because you describe the thought process and the approach that will generate an engaging visual story. I appreciate your clarity and your sympathetic understanding for learners.

Super interesting video as always, and so cool to learn you use SketchUp! (I'm just starting to learn the basics, but is really nice to see how useful can be for backgrounds)

I would love to see a more detailed tutorial on how you use 3d in your process! Also, I would love to see you sketching/designing more sci fi hard surface subjects like ships! Great video as always. I always look forward to your uploads!

Before watching through the whole video - I know that you always share valuable information so I am lookign forward to it :) - I have to share the idea of how important drawing skills are even with 3D. I have been working towards a professional career in art for about 5,5 years and had the bad experience of one mentorship where my mentor said that my fundamental skills were already good and that I should just use 3D underlays for my paintings. That was in 2020.
Well, it was only during this year that I was confronted with how bad my drawing - not painting - skills were. This was also somethign that hold my art back for much too long I guess.
Basically my lines weren't good, my construction was shaky and I often made perspective mistakes freehanding. That's why I had problems drawing over 3D before, the drawing muscle memory was just to bad. Having grinded my lineart and perspective skills for a few months this year, I can confirm that drawing over 3D forms has become so much easier.
I am really mad at said mentor because instead of teaching me how to improve my fundamentals he made me "skip" steps for a long time and use short cuts I should not have been using so often during the past years. :/

Thank you Tim for creating this video! I'm new to comic drawing and knowing 3D techniques to assist the background is super helpful! I would be curious though is how you measure the scales between the spaceship and the characters to make the scene look realistic? It would be very helpful if you can explain more into details!
