I distinctly remember Kevin Smith posting an article titled "How we got F-ED by the mouse" featuring an animated gif of Mickey doing the nasty with Silent Bob. The only response Kevin got was from a disgruntled former employee who nevertheless had unwittingly revealed a lot about the whole messed up process and Disney's strategy. Essentially, Disney got the rights to the show (and its associated talents) not to actually do something with it, but rather to prevent it from going to another network on the off-chance it might become a "sleeper-hit" and help the rival network grow.. IIRC it was dubbed "the Eisner Hold" since it was a favorite tactic of then Disney CEO Michael Eisner. It's a tactic that still goes on to this day, albeit in more subtle ways.

The ultimate punchline of the clipisode came 23 years later when “Clerks 3” was about Randal making “Clerks” and all the stories were from one day 30 years earlier
UPN offering to air Clerks after Smackdown is 100% untrue and literally impossible. UPN only broadcasted in prime time from 8pm-10pm and at 10pm it would switch over to local news (like all Fox and CW affiliates still do). Smackdown was a 2 hour show and took up the entire programming block.
Ahh I miss Clerks the animated series! It was a sweet little cluster of episodes that had been wrongfully cancelled by ABC execs that had no idea what an awesome show it was! I still put this in my fave category of adult comedies such as Duckman, The Critic, Ooblongs and Mission Hill!❤

Considering William Daniels was working with ABC at the time on Boy Meets World (MR FEENY!), Him reprising KITT would have been a cakewalk. Had the network not screwed the series over, that would've been something I'd have loved to see, as I was a HUGE Knight Rider fan when I was a kid despite growing up in the 90's.

The first time I saw this show was when it was randomly airing on Adult Swim. At least Adult Swim did what ABC failed to do and actually showed every episode. Unfortunately the show still wasn’t picked up for another season. maybe because Kevin Smith and the rest of the actors moved on at that point. I don’t know. Actually, this cartoon was my introduction to Kevin Smith and the Askewverse. It wasn’t till later I went over to a friends house and he was watching Clerks 2. That’s when I saw these characters in Live-Action for the first time. 😅 I was like, “hey wait a minute…what???”
I remember buy the DVD along with Clerks X ( The 10th anniversary DVD0 At my Bases Exchange, a week before I Got Underway for a 1 long patrol, We watch the hell out of both of them on the mess deck, I wish this show keep going, it was great and way ahead of this time.
I wish I lived in the alternate dimension where this show and firefly among other shows got a fair shot. I also got Kevin smiths autograph for my dearly departed aunt me and her were huge fans of him.
