5 guys is intentional. It looks like a old school 50s hamburger shop.
Yeah, it's the kind of thing that works if you have the cultural association from growing up with it, but looks weird if you don't. Can still find it in surviving old school diners some too.
I think the whole point of Lush is they want to look like they don't sell bath stuff. It's meant to look a bit like a rustic, bakery or sweet shop thing
I watch many DS videos just for the CI. From the title, I didn't think I was going to like this video all that much but it was FANTASTIC, CAPTIVATING, WONDERFUL! Agustina's analyses were spot on. When she said that the interior of 5 Guys reminds her of the inside of a bathroom I almost fell off my chair with laughter.
"Crumble Cookie" looks like a morgue and Abercrombie & Fitch looks like they're trying to limit light exposure to protect precious artefacts 😂 Please do more of these!! So fun. A store I really love going into is "Muji" which is a Japanese minimalist store, it's so peaceful

Oddly enough, Abercrombie and fitch actually started as an outdoors/hunting brand so your analysis makes perfect sense! Source: I was a model/tour guide for their corporate office for a few years
I was going to say the same thing. Years ago, I used to shop in there for my firearms then I went off to Germany for three years and when I got back, I walked in to do some shopping and it was nothing but trendy clothes. I was shocked that they had converted to that line of goods.

I agree with all of your opinions of each business. A follow-up video that would be fun is for you to show the interior designs you would have designed for them. It was funny when you showed the interior of Lush, I actually thought it was a produce store. Ha, ha. You’re analysis is spot on. It should be a crisper and cleaner look. Great video!
I think the white tile restaurant dining rooms like Five Guys has started with White Castle in the 1930s to demonstrate cleanliness. Now that I think about it, that's probably why they use it for bathrooms, too. :)
Oh no! Now 5 Guys in a Bathroom will forever be in my mind!
One place I think of is Costco. The food court area is right by where all the carts line up to check-out. People, with full carts, park them in the same walking area to eat at tables. There are no windows. There is not enough space. Have you seen the one in Hawaii? I think it is on Maui...cool glass garage doors that open up and a more dedicated space. Costco needs to build a second dining level, put in windows and bump that area out so it is not a traffic jam.
Other place that needs redo is IKEA..total maze. The stress level of where am I, where is that thing I want to go back and buy, am I going the wrong way? Total layout redo.

Ive also always found The Cheesecake Factory interior to be odd, considering the food (which i love). Five Guys looks like a typical 50s diner. A store with an ambuance/design i really find pleasing is Sprouts. Walmart on the other hand.... ugh

I agree about almost everything except for the first one - Lush. To me, it looks very nice, it reminds me a bit of a rustical style, Provence comes to mind, lavender, (smell!).. It doesn't remind me of vegetable stalls at all, maybe because they don't sell vegetables on wooden shelves where I live? :)

As for Taco Bell... you have to try it in Spain. It's AMAZING. It's absolutely crap quality in the US though. Like most fast food in the US. Poor quality. Their equivalents abroad are way better.

My guess is Lush looks like a produce shop bc they like to emphasize that their products are made from natural ingredients like various fruits, etc. So i think the design is intentional.
I am from Poland we don't have five guys there, but when I was in Spain every five guys was reallyyy bad looking agreed. I haven't thought that I am in the bathroom tho, but I really don't like the vibe there and everything seems so dirty and disorganised in terms of looks.

I think a lot of these come down to brand differentiation. In competitive markets they need to set themselves apart. The crumbl cookie one I'd guess is a purposeful contrast to make their cookies seems even more maximal. I think the five guys one is maybe a homage to 50s diners and soda shops that use tile?

Tu punto de vista es interesante pero no estoy completamente de acuerdo. Para mi five guys parece como un restaurante de hamburguesas en Estados Unidos en los 50s. Y Abercrombie&fitch esta oscura para un ambiente max sexy como un club o algo así. La idea es que es un lugar muy cool y atractivo y por eso la gente necesita comprar su ropa aqui.

I agree that the interior does need to make you want to stay and linger and not feel like a bathroom or where the lighting is so dim you have no idea of what you are buying. So so important to get it right|! Love your videos and your enthusiasm (wish I could write this in Spanish but at least I understand most of what you are saying so that is progress I guess!) Thank you.

Lush! Estoy de acuerdo que parece a una verdudería que huele a jabón y champú.
Me acuerdo la visita a Benalmádena en Andalucía y pensé lo mismo: estoy en baño. Las casas blancas y las cercas están decoradas con azulejos multicolores. Hacía calor, y eso era por la mañana después de limpieza de las calles, y ese olor... todo olía a detergente o una lejía que solo aumentaba la sensación de que estaba en un baño muy soleado.

I agree with most of these. The only one that I thought made a ton of sense actually is Five Guys. It looks like a typical oldies dinner. I actually like the very clean, oldies diner look. I can’t comment on their food though as I’ve never had it.

I’m probably biased about Lush, because it was founded in my hometown and I grew up with it. But I really like the aesthetic. 😂 Still, I love this video and everything else was on point!

I agree with you. There is a Cheesecake Factory a mile from my house and I have only eaten there twice in 20 years. The word I use to describe the interior of Cheesecake Factory is “gaudy.”

Gracias, Agustína, este video ha sido muy interesante y, para mi, muy útil. Estoy completamente d'acuerdo con tu análisis de la estética de estas marcas. Aunque me parece que los hamburguesas de 5 guys tampoco valen la pena comer, no estan nada de especial. Yo estaría muy agradecido si pudieras hacer MUCHOS MAS vídeos sobre todos aspectos de las operaciónes de los negocios y tiendas, incluyendo aspectos estéticos pero no solo eso. Y si algunos podrian ser de nivel avanzado, eso seria aun mejor.

Jajaja! Augustine, qué gracioso este tema! Estaba muy entretenido la verdad! Jajaja. De hecho, yo estaba como😮 cuando nos dijiste que es obligatorio visitar a Taco Bell cada vez que vas a los EEUU. Madre mía estoy muy sorprendida! De todoooooos los restaurantes aquí, esa comida es obligatoria? Jajajaja. Qué vaaaaaa. Estoy bromeando contigo, pero fue sorprendente. Además, creo que el diseño del señal en frente de Taco Bell es súper aburrido y feo. Le he comentado algunas veces a mi esposo lo feo que es con solo dos colores de morado y blanco, muy aburrido. Creo que lo actualizó y en mi humilde opinión es un fallo, vamos. Una duda: se puede decir “ en mi opinión humilde “ o solo se dice “ en mi humilde opinión”… es que normalmente los adjetivos van detrás, pero dijiste la frase dos veces con el adjetivo enfrente… es una frase hecha, o sea, siempre así?

I tried Crumble for the first time a few days ago and it definitely feels like a medical clinic in there 😭 I agree that if the name didn’t have “cookies” in it, you wouldn’t get that vibe that they sell them.

Also, I've never liked how the clothing store Old Navy looks. It looks like someone looked up a stock photo of a clothing store and designed it around that. It has 0 personality, and you could probably design a better looking store in Minecraft

The design of five guys really is awful. I might add that I’ve had better burgers than those as well. It’s a hype, that’s about it
i dislike both starbucks and apple... u can say whatever u want about desgin.. it is all what they have... just like hot girls... it is all what they have to offer.. hehe
