I saw the guy live about a year ago. Sadly he don't bring out those old basses with him any more. I' could have sworn that he used a Epiphone T-bird Pro refinished in red color that night. At least I saw him walking around with an Epiphone case.
@@deanworsley5208 I've played the Epi version. I liked it. I gigged with it. The worst part was giving it back to my buddy, because I was only borrowing it.
I have tried to play Thunderbirds because I love the playing of Nikki Sixx and Motley Crue so much. It doesn't sound like him at all and you can't reach the upper frets that well. When he plays it almost sounds like he is playing something else. The look though of the Thunderbird never gets old, so cool.
now im a gibson player, but i bought a firebird at one time and being a neckthrough the neck was always changing so after i year it left the house for good for a sg standard trade. this is a lynyrd skynyrd bass used always/ great you david
The Stooges and the MC5 changed my life as well, throw in the Ramones and Lou Reed and Pete smashing a perfectly good Lester and I was never the same...
Tactical flash light strobe setting doesn't drive you nuts each time you pass through it? Anyway, I was so inspired half way in I paused the video, drug out my tools and dropped the action on my 5 string, cause like you said, I was working too hard. So thank you
Dave I'm wondering if you could do a video on setting up a 5 string bass specifically with 2 truss rods. Mine is bent the wrong way round with no relief so I have to raise the strings to a rediculous height just to get it to play. I've looked on the net but cannot seem to find a tutorial on dual truss rod relief. The adjustment is at the headstock, thanks
Love your videos, but today I have a question about epiphone les pauls, I know loads of guys buy epi's and putting expensive pickups and wiring in them, I've been playing them for years and I have always thought they were great guitars, so in your professional opinion what do you think about the quality of them are they worth all the work and money these guys are putting into them?
What year is that..? I have a 92… the bridge is different than what you have there… It’s gotten awfully “quiet “ sitting in it’s case for years.. I’m wondering if I have some electronic issues..? Thanks for the video..!👍🏼 PS… I notice now that my pickups must’ve been TOO high.. because there’s string cuts all over the lower strings…😩🤣
Wait a Gibson that Dave didn't disagree with, is everything OK there Davey ? Could have at least called it the Chunderburd or something, wassup man you not feelin it today ?
I don’t get why people put EMG’s in a Gibson Thunderbird. None of the Thunderbird replacements 😢they make come close to the TBird+ pickups. I get going with Lollars if you’re chasing different tone.
Dave, what kind of capo do you use? I like the design of it, the ease of getting it on and off, and no big arms sticking off of it. Looks like an older design, so probably no shot at finding one?

Love the intro and the red glow of the Peterson reflecting off the bass! Perfect video in prep for Halloween!✌️
Beautiful iconic bass
I have a 1978 with proper pickups and metal covers, an absolute beast of a bass! Same one as Martin Turner of Wishbone Ash fame!
MARTIN TURNER. MARTIN TURNER!

Nothing like a Gibson bass repaired by Dave... Peace ✌ ☮
Always loved these since I saw Pete Way with UFO back in the 70's.
Nice spooky opening, Dave!
Awesome intro Dave, I have the Epi version,Cheers
Hahaha, same same, I haven’t noticed any issues with the first fret action to be honest

Ow. I slept wrong last night and now *my* neck is bent!
Nice new intro, Dave.
Nice video Dave. I just bought an Epi Thunderbird for $150. It goes perfectly with my Epi Firebird. Cheers!!

Great vid, classic Bass, nice to see a PROPER T-Bird👍
News flash: a PROPER Tbird from Gibson has the 760 Humbucker pickups with alnico 5 magnets, not those slimey ceramic jobs, Okay?

Those black strings look real nice on that thing.
They may be nylon flatwounds. That's what I use on my '62 p-bass: Rotosound 88's. Love them.
You do some really neat stuff on your intros!
No Gibson hate, you feeling ok
Gibson making bass guitars? Now THAT is a spooky Hallowe'en trick or treat!
That walnut burst likes you, Dave.
Dave Dangitt. Your tops. Mountain of knowledge......
The best intro ever! Thanks Betelgeuse!

Active EMG's are supposed to be close to the strings no?
The new Halloween intro is awesome, Dave!
Don't normally like Explorers, but that bass looks awesome.
Thats cos its a Thunderbird 😂
EMG recommends that their active pickups should be set much closer to the strings than passive pick-up s.
But surely not to the point where the strings hit and gnaw at the pickup covers.
I like the intro Dave very good.
Do you do your intros of do you get someone else to do it for you.
Cheers Dave! Grate video as always
Keepin’ real up in here! I have a real one, too. Bought it in Nashville, it’s a 1976. Bring the thunder...

I believe that’s a Hipshot bridge. A direct replacement for the three-point (fall apart) bridge.
