  • On Election Day in America, Erwin and Aaron talk about how we handle disappointment as individuals and as a society. From the World Series to the president, they dissect our responses when we don't get who or what we want.
What do your expectations and your reactions to disappointment say about your character? This integral question is what Erwin challenges younger generations to consider as the tensions within the US rise. Both Aaron and Erwin implore us to constantly check how we are handling disappointment in our lives. No matter what, there will inevitably be those you disagree with, and things cannot always go your way. We must approach those situations with maturity and ultimately respect if we strive to live in a better world.
We hope everyone has a safe Election Day and we'll see you on Friday!

great thought Aaron. God doesn't eliminate our right to choose even if He doesn't like the choice. @ Erwin thank you

    Hi Gentlemen,
Thank you so much for this podcast. It's refreshing to hear people have a discussion about politics without arguing! Thank you for being so transparent and sharing your heart with us listeners/viewers.
There are a few things that Aaron said that I wanted to challenge - not to be combative, just for some food for thought. One is on the topic of the LGBTQIA+ community. I hear Aaron vehemently defending their rights even going as far as saying that he will probably never change that, and although I love my LGBTQIA+ friends dearly the Bible clearly says that those who participate in homosexuality amongst other sins will not inherit the Kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9). So fighting for rights that enable a lifestyle that would ultimately separate our friends from God is not really loving them in my opinion. We must speak the truth in love and live by scripture not feelings. (BTW I'm a 29-year-old woman from LA so I'm not so far removed. )
The other thing that was said in regards to voting that kind of puzzled me was "don't vote your faith". As Christians shouldn't our faith inform every decision we make? I mean at the end of the day shouldn't everything we do be for God's glory? Isn't that the reason we're here?
Anyway, those are my thoughts. Thanks again for the discussion. God bless you both.

Really well done gentlemen. I literally lamented this election decision. We have 4 kids and sons and daughters in love. We have a gay child and we have a child daughter becoming a pastor, we have kids in agriculture and we have owned businesses and been to places in the world others don't want to go. We are diverse just in our home! But we all believe, God gave us the outrageous gift of free will and He will use whatever our free will gives Him to use. God loves President Trump and Vice President Biden equally. We need to learn to disagree and love well beyond our fear, ego, and pride. And Yes!! We get to change our minds. Love you both. Thank you.

How dare you not have them same identical brokenness that I have!
I totally agree that we need to remember that we’re all in this together, and that we can have diversity in our unity.

Watched the stories you shared today and I was so worried about this episode disappearing before I got to watch it. Now, I am beyond thankful it is still here.
This is the most, honest, healthy, confronting, mind blowing, turmoil calming, conversation EVER! You both handled the conversation in a way that made us all think about the mere fact of being a human being, facing decisions that carry a huge responsibility and how we can be in disagreement in a respectful way.
Thank you for not holding back and sharing this gem!

I love this. I had this thought while watching. Aaron: I love that you are going to older generations for wisdom. To hear, listen and understand. Most of our generation will not and discounts people who do have life experience and have walked it out well. Thank you guys for the discussion. I love these podcasts.

    Rich conversation here. Thank you.
A perspective: did listen to your talk, Aaron, on Sunday. Perhaps the experience of being at the airport, wanting to go, while your Dad and friends wanted you with them may be a touch of God's love for us. And we get to choose.
God calls and says He has a good love place, a seat for us. With family and friends in abundance.
So joyful it is to watch/ hear the love shared between you and your Dad.
The hat fits you as does your place in your father's heart.

Can’t begin to describe how similar I feel, Aaron, when it comes to sensing a call to speak and / or preach and the discomfort I feel when doing so. God doesn’t call us to the confines of the comfortable, but instead to something much grander that will depend on us, depending on Him. Loved the sermon by the way. Look forward to the next.

I’m a little confused so I’d like to clarify. You said that what was a big deciding factor in you deciding to vote for Trump was witnessing what was happening in LA and DTLA. But wasn’t Trump the one who cracked down during the riots and sent swat and military personal to big cities like Los Angeles, Portland etc. Isn’t that gov’t interference and control? I might have a wrong understanding of what you mean though, no judgement just truly curious.

    • @Joshdgillespie
      @Joshdgillespie 3 роки тому +4

Hey Darian, I think that's a great question. I won't speak for Aaron, but in response to your question, I think the reason the riots in LA and other cities could lead one to vote for Trump is seeing the lack of, or passive, response from Democratic leadership while shopping centers and cities were being looted and destroyed. As a result, Trump sending in Swat and military was precisely seen as the government interfering with the destruction, which is what many city residents want, and taking control of an out of control situation. Something that many Democratic mayors and governors, and even presidential candidates seemed to do very little of or even say anything about at all. I think we need the government to interfere with criminal activity. I think their primary function is to provide safety to law abiding citizens, like the peaceful protestors, and like the owners of those destroyed shops and businesses and property in many cities. I live in Denver and thankfully our mayor, a Democrat incidentally, sided with the legitimate aspects of the police and was vocal about not tolerating looting and rioting and violence. Unfortunately, many mayors were not as vocal, or supportive of legitimate police authority and things often didn't go as well. Which might make people strongly consider if they want those same people in office come election day.

The most powerful thing God gave us beside salvation is the power of Choice
But that doesn't mean as Christians we support what God dislike
    Otherwise that's hypocrisy

Aaron, have you looked into the Enneagram? The Lord has been using the Enneagram to refine my personality and I can say that within the last 30 days I have had more revelation, healing, and breakthrough using the Enneagram than I have had with years of therapy. It has been really good and I encourage you to check it out. 🙌🏼 If you want you can check out Suzanne Stabile’s podcast called “The Enneagram Journey.” It’s really good!

I'm all for understanding people and not demonizing another person's opinion, but in this case Trump has been proven to be racist and sexist. I still don't understand why he would vote for someone with those characteristics. It was a little heartbreaking to hear from my favorite father-son duo. Not trying to start something just trying to understand.
