How did I stumble upon this? Leave it to a groomer, please. No disrespect but you’re using household scissors to groom your dogs face. If you have clippers for the body. Please use thinning sheers for around the eyes.
Cutting around the eyes using those pointy scissors - incredibly careless! Leave the trimming to professionals, people! Your dog's safety is more important.
Pft. Grooming your own dogs is so much better than takling them to a groomer. You get the exact result you want and bond with them at the same time. I don´t use pointy scissors in the face, but if I did there would be zero problem. My dogs love grooming time and sit like angels, they dont move a mm. Thats what you get when you groom at home, with love. :)
Good grief! This person has no idea how to groom a Havanese or correctly trim the facial hair of a small dog. She holds the scissors wrongly and when tidying up the belly area, she also holds the clippers wrongly. I feel sorry for this poor pup! This is not the way a good groomer would work. Sorry!
I’m thinking a couple of blending shears would go a long way, less work, but smoother results. It was making me nervous seeing the household scissors 😮, but for your own dog, I’ll give it to you for the ‘slow and easy’ approach, gently taking care of that dog who knew you and seemed to be pretty calm.
You really should hold the skin taut so you don't accidentally catch the skin with your blade, the way you just went over the loose skin on the back is super dangerous. Also you should never go over the paw pads with scissors because you could cut them, it's much safer to use a 10 or 30 to shave the hair. Better yet just take your dog to a professional groomer so they can safely groom your dog for you because the more I watch the more I worry you're going to accidentally injure your dog.

Stand the dog up to do feet. Trim the beard.
