    Regarding the Arlo Wire-Free & Arlo Pro, here are the main differences:
    Arlo Pro
    · 2-way audio
    · Rechargeable battery
    · 130° viewing angle
    · Advanced motion detection
    · Basestation with 100+db Security Siren & Local Backup Storage option
    · Flexible Powering Option (wire-free or plugged in)
    Keep in mind, both the Arlo Wire-Free and Arlo Pro systems are 2-way compatible. This means you can essentially add Arlo Pro cameras to a Wire-Free system and vice versa.
    Arlo Go has all the same camera features as the Arlo Pro. It actually doesn’t use a basestation/WiFi, but rather 3G/4G LTE which allows it to be used anywhere you need it. It will support AT&T and Verizon at launch.

    You talk about the video quality, but this is the second review I've seen where the protective plastic film wasn't removed from the front of the cameras. Even though clear, it affects image qaulity more than you'd think. Pull the little blue tab and take that plastic off!

    We’ve only had the cameras up and running for a short time. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxOXxsTZ3ptV_Pk0fFl8bNZvVqeoqBQFwe So far we love them! I got the outdoor mounting kit for them and they were easy to install. Once you download the app, it walks you through the very easy set up. The clarity, and range is awesome. I am thinking seriously about adding another camera or two to my 3 camera system. The price is lower than a lot of comparable systems.

    I just bought one at Walmart, older version that was used and returned. That said, I got 3 cameras, base station for $160, fair price I feel for the outdated version that actually has some of the most negative replies I have ever seen for a product in a comment section, and now I questioned on why I bought it.
    Now the best part, have the cameras set on high quality video record, which would now be considered fair at best, but yet still looks great. From the install and update, to the sync of the cameras to the base station, and being weeks into it, battery life is great. The notice I get on my phone has been bullet proof, sensitivity has been perfect, hardly any false reports. Safe to say that it's been top notch product so far, and does not represent the type of product it is represented in the comment section, a bit dated product, but looks and works great.

    Hey this is a good system. My grandfather purchased it for his home. I think he invested oh about $600 US dollars. His plan supports one more camera so I purchased a camera for him for Christmas. The set up was really easy. But I'm glad Netgear stepped up and made this easy to use. 1GB of cloud storage doesn't seem enough.

    • @randomrazr

      +TJC450 im just glad netgear gives u something free for storage. NEST has a comparable camera but charge if u want to use cloud storage. otherwise, the nest one is a useless live cam. 600 is alot of money, but for under 1000 dollar security cameras, they seem to be the best value for money

    I saw an Arlo killer on Kickstarter called Solar Cam. Not only did it have power by hybrid solar+batt res., it also can wake up within 0.5 seconds. this is what killed my Arlo, always recording after something happened! (that and changing batteries every 2 weeks on the one that got "too much" action)

    Nice review. Do you know if you can access the live video stream (not record, but live stream) on the app on a iPhone if your wifi is not connected to the internet, and hence not connected to Netgear. I want to use something like this in an RV with a camera outside, but sometimes I have no internet, even though I do have wifi inside the RV via my own router. I want to be able to use the camera outside the RV to check on things in locations where I do not have internet access. I also wonder how much data it uses pushing the video up to Netgeaar s sometimes my internet connection is via a cell hot spot, seems like that could get pricy if they are not efficient with their data stream. Thanks for any and all advice you can share!

    • @randomrazr
      @randomrazr  8 років тому

      +Robert Garskof the netgear router is designed to connect the cameras to the internet via ur router if i understand how that works. so if u have no internet, u wouldnt be able to access it

    Do I understand this right then that there is no way to set it up for continuous recording? That is too bad I wanted to record myself sleeping each night for a month to see if I was being abducted by aliens, if the camera detects motion only that can be manipulated and the camera may not activate. I thought buying a single camera was the best option for home recording but if it's motion detection only that's a deal breaker.

    Hi, appreciate feedback to below questions:
    1. do i need to connect the base station with my wireless internet router via Ethernet port only or the base station can connect to the wireless internet router over Wifi?
    2. what is the maximum allowed distance between the camera & the base station?
    3. considering 7 days of free cloud storage, can i assume that the recording can be done for 24 hours for each of those 7 days?

    • @randomrazr
      @randomrazr  8 років тому

      +Sadat Mazumder its better to connect ethernet . im not sure what the max distance is, but if its a house u shouldnt have to worry since wifi has a good range. it records on motion. if it recoreded 2 4hours u got alot of upload usage on ur internet

    If you want Constant monitoring of a particular area with constant movement. Every time the camera records it uses more battery power
    I have had my camera in my car for 2 days and the batteries went flat
    If you want Facial or number plate recognition. Over 4 meters and your picture starts to pixelate. All you get is blurred images.This on the highest quality setting. If you want distance
    The claim of150 meters is misleading. I put the camera at 50 meters away in direct line from the router. At 50 meters I got a good signal but over 2 days I had signal loss, interference and picture breakdown. At 50 meters not in direct line with the router the signal was intermittentThe camera can record from 10 seconds to 30 seconds. The image recorded is about 5 to 8 seconds behind real time. the sensor is very hit and miss even at the recommended height of 7 feet angle downward. 4 times out of 10 times by the time the camera has activated the event you want to see has passed
    I now have the camera facing my front door with twice a day action with no night sensor on and at 20sec recording for 5 days and my batteries are at 92%. If I want to see what is on camera I have to switch the internet on and log in then turn my camera to live view, this can take up to 30 seconds. A bird came to the camera and pecked the lens which immediately turned my image pink! I changed the batteries and it was ok again?
    Overall this system, with all it's all it's technology, is just an inefficient gimmick and not much use for security.

    • @edtin1834
      @edtin1834 7 років тому

      I think the point here that this acts both as preventative and after the fact device. For the preventative factor the fact that a camera(s) is installed, as well as the use of the placard, could act as a deterrent. For the after fact, if someone steals or disable the camera this probably means they stole other things as well. In this scenario, the camera and system acts as a possible use by the police in identifying the robber but more importantly is proof that can be provided to an insurance agency. So the question here is what is the system to be used for?

    • @tamilian100

    I was just about to buy 4 Arlo camera set, but they so pissed me off by their sneakiness of trying to push their cloud service by locking away your ability to record your videos locally. They are not the only company doing this, apparently pushing customers to subscription services is the biggest money making scheme, ever notice those endless Apple pop-up/warnings of memory and iCloud....I had enough. I read the specs, and these cameras are terrific, compact and neat...but their greed got the best of Netgear..

      OMG! ARE YOU SERIOUS? SD card are used for hand held cameras, not when you are shooting a freaking HD footage from 4 surveillance cameras!...Their logic of making SD available is the same logic of giving customers 1 GB free storage....it keeps the pressure on the customer to seek their cloud service. If they are sincere about providing the product independent from their services then they should sell it with 1 TB or 500 GB HDD like any other security cameras.

    STAY CLEAR OR WIRELESS AND WIFI CAMERAS FOR GUARDING YOU HIGH DOLLAR VALUABLES!
    Any WiFi or wireless cameras suck, plain n simple. You might be mesmerized at first but, when the poor reliability hammers your ass, you'll be the dummy and the sales developers at Netgear did a grand job selling garbage PLUS made bonuses off your negligence purchases.
    kNOWLEDGE IS POWER, use it first!
    Choosing cost over quality leads one to the lowsey systems.
    Choosing quality over cost nets you the best money can buy and not cutting corners from a mere novelty gimmick.
