      Xena was a TV show and then they make a movie..... have you actually ever watched Xena? and im not talking about an episode or 2, because that wouldn't make your opinion calling it "crazy" as valid. People might not care to watch it today because of so many action fantasy shows, but Xena even though it has its campy moments is superior as a show than many high rated action shows today. Did you knew that the US army has a program called Xena, thats developing armor for female soldiers? Im pretty sure the show had and still has a a pretty big impact on people. If Quentin Tarantino, one of the most brilliant directors ever says the show is amazing, deep and interesting, then the show is pretty amazing. As for crazy, it is crazy but in a very good, funny and positive way.

    Xena's story is the best story ever made. The tv series we watch now are in a very low level. The new generation can't realize that bc they didn't use to watch shows with deep stories that has a significance. It's not worth the good job at the effects part if the story isn't good. Quentin knows what he talks about. Exactly these things made me watch and stick with the xena series. I can't enjoy another show like I enjoyed Xena. They all seems to me pointless.

    Xena was awesome, my all time favorite show! I was sad when Netflix removed it from its service. On her story, I also couldn't agree more with him. All these years has passed and I haven't seen one character - male or female - with such a superb and at the same time more messed up passed like Xena. I was so into the last episode that I literally cried when they killed her.

  • @932sd

    The backstory of a hero with a genuinely villainous past wasn't original but where Xena differed (compared to say Angel or the development of Spike in BUFFY for example) is that it didn't insert storytelling reasons to soften that past for viewers. Angel and Spike were soulless vampires whilst UNFORGIVEN, the movie Tarantino quotes here, implies the Eastwood character was horrifically violent only when he got drunk. Xena wasn't possessed or brainwashed she simply committed horrible acts that got out of control until she snapped out of it.

    • @jonsnor4313
      @jonsnor4313 5 років тому

      Angel on his own show got confronted enough with his past and his ruthless side to make him that character, he even says that all he can do is fighting the good fight, no matter what, which implies he doesnt believe in his redemption but tries to be his best self, despite all odds now, like xena. His show deals a lot with tempting him, sometimes successful.

      Kill Bill was QT's love letter to Xena and those kind of films because Xena in turn was influenced by Japanese films. He even used Xena herself (Zoe Bell, Xena's stunt double) as The Bride's stunt double in Kill Bill.

    Agree with you 100% Quentin! The great thing about Xena was that she was so flawed but still wanted to believe in the Greater Good and that it really meant something. She lost her way in life so badly but in finding her way back, she manages to change lives, including her own, for the better. As long as she had Gabrielle beside her as her safe guard, she might bend but she would never break.

    In the future there probably be a 'remake' of Xena WP. Alas it will also probably not star LL or ROC nor be tackled by the original writers, directors, producers etc. UNLESS some provision is made for same. Some Hollywood remakes are only out to make money not quality. It would have to be filmed in NZ again and the story line is possible. just my honest opinion, nothing more. Would love to see it come back but without LL and ROC....it can't.

Whether he was playing a wannabe warrior, a deadly assassin or a brush salesman posing as a French army officer, everything he did was comedy gold.

    Quentin terentino or anyone could make a cartoon or anime, or a game, that way they could use the actual actors with some voice acting training, minus kevin smith(the fit one), rip god among men. That would seriously be the best rebboot. Dc studios make good cartoons.
