Then you have Gary Sinise, who actually goes out and helps people instead of talking about it, what an amazing, selfless human being who has no doubt brought joy and comfort to more people than he could even imagine.

President Trump, Gary Sinise deserves to have the Medal of Freedom more than any (very well paid) sports star or celebrity, who have been given the award just for being famous. All of the programs which the Gary Sinise Foundation, heck any one of them by itself, deserve to be honored with the highest honor this country bestows on a civilian. He has the back of everyone who protects/protected us, and the families who lost them to that mission. He deserves the Medal of Freedom.

I am daughter of a combat veteran (Dad-Battle of the Bulge), wife of a combat veteran (husband-Cobra pilot in Vietnam), mother of two sons combat veterans (one in Airborne-1st gulf war, the other, Crew Chief on Black Hawks during the invasion of Baghdad), Aunt of two Nephews combat veterans (one Navy Afghanistan, one Army Afghanistan and Iraq), and Grandmother to an active member of the Air Force. I want to thank you Gary, so very much for what you are doing on behalf of all veterans. Your Foundation has helped so many and we appreciate what you are doing. My Dad was a 30 year USAF Pilot and Officer. He would be so proud of The Veterans helped by The Gary Sinise Foundation. It's amazing how this man turned one role from a really huge movie and leveraged it into doing good for the world. Some actors would lament being known as Lt. Dan for the rest of their lives, but Gary sees it as a positive and is using it for good. Good stuff, good man.

Bob Hope may have done almost as much for our troops and veterans as Gary Sinise. No one else is even close.We were blessed to be able to volunteer for the Snowball Express last year, and hope to be there in 2020. God bless you Gary and those who put in the hard work to make life better and easier for our troops, our veterans and our gold Star Families.

US Army Infantry Veteran 2005 - 2009
medically discharged due to siezures 6 months away from my first deployment, so i never got to deploy with my unit at the time. from that first siezure, knowing that it was only a matter of time before i was going home without actually finishing my enlistment, then being made a Retiree at 29 years old....wont deny that it really messed with my head and my confidence. still kinda does, honestly.
