I'm French and we are so not educated that way. What a confused time that is ours. I ll always be a fervent partisan of the Dalaï Lama and his teachings, He is truth and I'll never be grateful enough for what he has transmitted to us. He is the real religious leader. The pope is confused

Thank you for this fine Video and the loving kindness of His Holiness, a brother, father and mother for all humanity.
This research on compassion, learning, and mental and physial development which has been mentioned at the end of the video should be brought to the attention of all those officials being responsible for education, social development and health of all nations.
And the first step should be: teaching the teachers!!!
In Germany for example, pupils and students are encouraged to think competitous. Those with the best grades are treated friendly, and the teachers seem to teach them allone. Those who are not that bright in maths, for example, are told to find pivat teachers and learn at home and not disturb the lesson with their stupid questions. They are ridiculed in front of their class mates. Many students had and have traumatic exeriences based on their hard-hearted teachers. The results are very often depression, social anxieties, and lack of sef-esteem which influence their entire adult lives. I am a psychotherpist and know what I am talking of.

I think that trying to scientifically "prove" and rationalize compassion is highly inhuman and robotic. The facts said at the end such as " 1.5 hours of volunteer once a week reduces cardiovascular risk"- is so robotic and capitalist- "what is in it for me mentality" that it goes against the real teachings of compassion. People should be compassionate just because they are human, not because they will reduce their cardiovascular risks, or get better grades. Compassion ,or volunteering for that matter, should be about giving without expecting anything in return, that is what the Dalai Lama is trying to get at- just give to other humans as a human, see the oneness of humanity in others, that is true compassion, not this rationalistic, individualistic, scientific motivation behind it. Maybe that is why he did not seem that excited after that long, fact-stating speech that had no true humanity or compassion in it. I don't blame the researchers as they are part of a western, individualistic, scientific society that just wants to hear the "whats in it for me" speech but in my view that is just robotic and inhuman and misses the point of true compassion entirely- I don't need a "brainy" prove that compassion brings me benefits, I just do it from the heart because I am human. That is exactly what the is trying to get at develop the heart not just the mind.

In refection to the Commits made to the first speaker from the Haida Gwaii community , on her examples of the importance of building deeper relations to ones cultural bonds and learning of ones traditional language,, , I think there was a "seeing" of attachment to ones cultural or language "identity" ,, With respect I would like to ask Tenzin Gyatso if he understands the differences in how first peoples Language "expression structure" "reflects" from the place of the heart ,, and how a connection to ones traditional cultural "structural" Ethos, that has always ,deeply, "valued" the perception and incite that comes from this core place.. when she walked back to her seat there was a gut feeling of some upset on her face .. she was trying to "reflect" upon how these values impacted her life and the difficulty she went through in being torn from that heartfelt community 'structure and wanted to share an example of how that impacted her life. issues impacting core social "structures" upon how all peoples come to "see" each other as fellow human beings is a very important topic for many young people today , in refection to the collective issues we all face as global peoples. the importance of "humility and issues of Ego and pride in todays world often come to mind .I also want to recognize the importance of all the speakers questions , and his recognition that very young children when presented with moral examples will always reach out to the person who shows empathy and helps others(The example of the two teddy bears test with a charter in between needing help,, one bear charter helps and the other one hinders, the child will always chose the bear charter that showed compassion and empathy most high social animals like chimps that can recognize themselves in a mirror will do so also ) Thank you for sharing.

Tibetan buddhism is upon individual how you change your inner world and expand your wisdom to other...tibetan buddhism never focus on being monk to be good but rather focus on human being as a good heart and good vision to help othee
