Mines in for warranty repair at the moment - the blade lock broke when I dropped it from a ladder. Has been utterly unstoppable apart from my unco-ness.
One thing i like about the can opener is the electrial wire stripper v notch on it, i use it alot at work and saves dulling my knife blade edge. For EDC i carry it's little brother the rebar, both are excellent and the 300 is in my BOB/ get home bag. Thanks for the videos take care God bless
Thanks so much for the fantastic review! Someone at work left one of these and it was never claimed so I figured I could use it around the house, and it has INDEED come in handy!
I sent a Leatherman Core back to them with a broken screwdriver and then sent me the ST-300 since the Core was no longer in production. Seems like a very similar tool with beefier pliers and changeable wire cutters. I'm a big fan......Gerber teases me with their spring loaded stuff, but I am all Leatherman.....all the time!!
I have the ST300. It's the only Leatherman I currently own, but I hope to remedy that in the future. I have the stainless version with a leather sheath. I would actually prefer the black version with the cordura sheath, but I got mine on sale at Academy. It works great and I love it.
I think the super tool 300 and rebar are awesome. but when you compare them to the surge and wave don't you think the holes instead of the thumb nail indention on the knives and the fact they are able to open without opening the pliers better? not to mention the blades are facing down when they're opened compared to up on the 300 and rebar?
I edc the original Super Tool, I do like the upgrades that they have done on it like the unlocking with out having to open another tool and the replaceable cutting edges on the pliers.
Thanks for the wood saw description! I was considering this tool for my only wood cutting option, but after watching your review, I am thinking about adding a separate saw to my B.O.B. A lot of folks do not seem to trust self opening cans for long term storage, apparently they can be too good at opening themselves randomly/accidentally. Also, here in Canada most of our cans are the traditional type. For those reasons, I like the can opener option that this tool has.
I think both the Leatherman Rebar and Super Tool 300 are excellently made tools. My only gripe on both is when I handled both, I get really annoyed every time I had to open the multitool to access one of the tools inside and then open it again to put the tool away. It's still a great tool but that was incredibly bothersome. The Surge and Charge TTi, however, were a complete joy to use. I don't have to frequently open to access a tool when the main ones are outside. Again, it's just me and my personal preference.
if you drop the ST300 the tools remain clean. The knives, file, and saw are the longest and most effective. It is made for work, and reliable, firm, and strong. ST300. is the best most practical, and best value MT you can get.
Hey Aaron, great review brother! I've had a leatherman wave for a number of years now and HATE it! I find it nothing short of outright painful to use the knife! It's due to the other tools protruding from the handle... Very uncomfortable... I think the super tool is probably a much smarter design as it doesn't have any outside accessible tools that dig into the user's hand like the wave. I've grown to really resent the wave because of this design flaw.
Great point Aaron. I didn't even notice that either. I think if I ever pick up another leatherman it will be a super tool or a rebar despite the fact that it doesn't have scissors or a diamond file like the wave.
That’s by go-to. I keep a Center-Drive on my motorcycle because the longer driver is super useful there but when it comes to an EDC/hiking tool I look to the Supertool 300 purely because I know it will do anything I need it to do
3:45 See, that's why i prefer the Wave over this. Having the blade edge towards the interior of the tool, rather the exterior, means you'll have a hard time making some cuts cause you'll hit the table with the body of the tool. That's unacceptable.
I have had several different multi tools. I have to say my favorite to date is the Schrade too! I have had it since I was stationed in Korea in 93 and it is still amazing.
Can you please mention the European sizes as well (centimeter instead of inch, grams instead of ounces, and so on)? Very nice videos, they are great! Thanks for doing this!
Thanks for the great review Aaron. The Super Tool is not a "larger version" of the Rebar. OMG...Which came first?... The Super Tool! It has been around a long time! The Rebar is a "miniature version" of the Super Tool... just to set the record straight. These ST 300 multi-tools are the mainstay in my family... one in each bug out bag, and one in each car kit. Thrunite Archer 1A flashlights on the side of each pouch. We don't own any other multi-tools... only the ST 300s. I want to know WHY anyone thinks another is better than this tool... and if they start talking "ounces"... why the heck are they carrying a multi-tool at all? A few more "ounces" are not as important as "total" functionality when it come to a multi-purpose tool. I'll keep the Super Tool 300s... to others maybe looking for a great tool, I'd suggest this great product. (Price is also important).
The two very different tools. I like the quick action, an extended arm with bits of the center Drive for medium and light duty task. The super tool is a Monster and definitely built for heavy duty task.
like the fact that the internal tools are protected when in the closed position...no sharp edges exposed make pocket carry possible.. the grip is nice when in the opened position with the radius finished handle edges.
bought mine a long time ago, almost 25 years. Recently, the plier was not opening smoothly. Took it to the local (Malaysian) distributor. After a couple of weeks in their service centre, they decided to give me a free replacement upgrade to the 300 because the original multitool is no longer available. Kudos to UFL Malaysia.
Hi I got one item supertool-300 I like it but I wanna complain about wire cutter I hope that cutter made by tungsten carbide steel but I really disappoint when I have to cut with three milli meter wire then I found dammage a little bit at the edge.
Good vid. You got a screaming deal. The 300 is a great tool. One of my favorites. No thrills and frills just a hard working strong tool. I really like mine. I actually like it a little better than my Surge. the Surge easier to deploy certain tools. I think the 300 has a stronger lock on the knife.
Ahh, the golden age of Gideonstactical. Before all the overdone editing and 1000 choppy cuts and pre prepared statements that make it too distracting to watch
👍 Very nicely done review! Q: I found a Leatherman Skeletool for $29.99, no case to carry with it and no bits either. Do you think its a good buy? I was going to put it in range bag or a sling bag just in case type thing. Thanks!
I have carried the Supertool since it was first introduced. I love them. But, the 300 has two faults, one of which pretty much all Leathermans have and one of which the previous Supertools did not have. In previous Supertools the saw blade was thicker. In this one, the sawblade has been thinned out, for no obvious reason. I tend to use the saw blade a lot and on my current tool, I bent the saw blade the first time I used it. On previous Supertools, with the thicker saw blade, I never bent one, even with extensive use. The other fault which every Leatherman I have owned seems to have, is, over time, the hinge loosens up. I have worn out four or five leathermans this way. Once the hinge gets loose enough, the wire cutters are a joke. Now I use my Leatherman like a third hand everyday. Most people will never experience the problems I have.
A little tip Mr Gideon the tool colour is not very photogenic and it was difficult to see the features, maybe next time try doing a review of it in silver. You mentioned some very good points though keep it up me old mucker!
I used to really like Leatherman. It was almost like a security blanket in my pocket until I started to fix things on the daily and take things apart. It failed miserably!! The steel is too soft, if you end up stripping the screwdrivers on really tight, rusty screws, Another time I bent, yes bent, the pliers and nearly broke them. I started using the Gerber MP600 and I still use it to this day, I also bought the Center Drive, very good tools. The way they are designed, they are meant to take hard use and no wonder the military uses Gerber. Leatherman are just too gimmicky, they don't give you the 25 year warranty because they are nice guys, they give it because they know that your Leatherman is bound to wear out quickly, think about it, with all the people that sent theirs back!! I have yet to even send my Gerber back!!!
Leatherman Super Tool 300 - очень удобный для работы инструмент. Небольшой вес и размеры. Вместо дипломата с инструментами теперь беру с собой Super Tool 300.

I have had several weatherman tools in the last nearly 30 years all have been given to me. Stainless steel or black oxide?
@@christianb8228 Black oxide might fade and scratch. would avoid.

I like leatherman products. Snapped my pliers, sent them back, and they took great care of me. Love a company that stands behind their products.
+Cr0cket20 Glad to hear they took care of you.
They just sent me a brand new ST300 after I accidentally broke the small flathead driver...awesome awesome awesome customer service!
I carry the ST 300 in my tool belt bags. Saves trips up and down the ladder.
Nice!
