  • Abuja is the capital and eighth most populous city of Nigeria.Situated at the centre of the country within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), it is a planned city built mainly in the 1980s based on a master plan by International Planning Associates (IPA), a consortium of three American planning and architecture firms made up of Wallace, Roberts, McHarg & Todd (WRMT - a group of architects) as the lead, Archisystems International (a subsidiary of the Howard Hughes Corporation), and Planning Research Corporation. The Central Business District of Abuja was designed by Japanese architect Kenzo Tange. It replaced Lagos, the country's most populous city, as the capital on 12 December 1991.

Nice video,I commend your effort in showing Abuja to the world, however your tour guide really fed you with wrong information's.
    1. There are no vigilantes operating within the city centre, perhaps maybe in the satellite towns and those illegal settlements.
    2. There is no GRA in Abuja,I have lived in Abuja since May 28th 1998 and i lived at the city centre. What we have are districts and cadastral zones.
    3. The large expanse of compound you called guest house is the safe house built to house newly elected president of Nigeria before he is eventually sworn in as Nigeria President.
    4. That main road you accessed from Maitama is Sheu Shagari way.
    5. The building you called NYSC Secretariat is called International Training Institute,it is owned by CBN.
    6. The express road you called Banex road is Ahmadu Bello way,it is the longest road in Abuja apart from the main express from Zuba to AYA in Asokoro. It starts from National legislative Quarters in Apo District running through Garki 2 District,Central Business District,Wuse 2 District,Jahi district and it terminate at the bridge leading to the largest Estate in Africa called Gwarimpa Estate located close to Life Camp.
    7. ECWA church means Evangelical Church Of West Africa. Its the main church of the indigenous Gbagyi people.
    8. Amala joint is peculiar to the Yoruba's and the cab drivers who are mainly from Ilesha in Osun State. Am a Yoruba man but I will tell you the truth.
    9. Kado Estate was built by Late Lateef Jakande when he was Minister of work during Late Abacha regime,he equally spear headed the construction of Gwarimpa Estate.
    10. No particular religion dominate the other in Abuja.
    11. Abuja has the highest number of Estates in Nigeria except maybe Lagos.
    12. The most beautiful district in Abuja now is Guzape and Katampe 2 districts respectively. However Maitama and Asokoro districts is occupied by the who is who in Nigeria. Basically all the districts are beautiful,no poor man can live in Abuja city.
    12. Abuja is full with Mansions,an American man said he has not seen any city in the world that has the number of mansions like he had seen in Abuja. Every districts are full of mansions.
    13. You can not get flats in Maitama and Asokoro Districts. It cost between N500 million to N2 billion to buy land or houses there,so how can you build flats on such properties, excepts you want to rent the boy's quarters of those houses.

Nothing special about Abuja, no designated Bus stop, no Zebra crossing, no Tram tracks, and directions to other areas. What is all the noise about Abuja ? Casablanca or Rabat or Johannesburg, Abidjan and Angela are well organised cities and beneficial than Abuja. Not having Nice house, Wide lanes, or trees on the Road that make up a city.

Cities like Casablanca, Johannesburg, Abidjan, and Kigali, these cities have European model or standard. You don't know me from Adam, you should never used such insulting word like depressed. By the special grace of God, i have live all my life in the western world. I am above 63 years, i am in a better position to compared Abuja and other cities in Africa. I am not comparing Abuja with New York, milan, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Madrid.

@@stephenandrewatikongu810 Why must European cities be standard for building cities in Africa? Who told you European cities are standards? Moreover, European cities are ancient cities. Can't we build cities in Africa that are first of their kinds? Why must you think like your colonial masters. Don't you watch cities in Singapore, South Korea and China? Was Singapore modelled after European cities? Must our architecture, designs, roads and signpost in Africa look European? Do we have same climatic conditions? I have traveled many cities in California and Texas and watched so many videos on cities in Asia and Europe and I can tell you that Abuja is a world-class city! Again, European cities are not in anyway standards. They are ancient cities!!!

@luckyadeloye3452 You are getting me completely wrong. I am not comparing Abuja with any of the western world cities. There's a sharp contrast and huge difference. My comparison is with a third world cities like Casablanca, Tunis, Johannesburg, Abidjan, Kigali, Tripoli, and cairo. You claimed that Abuja is a world class city. For me i don't see that or all the noise about Abuja. Brother, don't forget that, Abuja was denied the right to host International parliamentary meeting on the simple grounds that Abuja as a city don't have Government public transport system, no designated Bus stop, no Bus lane, and most of the traffic light are not working. Please i want you to visit Joburg, Casablanca and come and tell me the difference. Yes you are a Nigerian and you still have some percentage of Nigerian blood is running in you. This i understand, one should see the truth and said it. I can't compare Abuja with New York or Washington, the difference is 150 years in all ramifications.
