I believe that Tom Jones photographic memory (he sees what he says) is what makes him such a spectacular performer. He performs with more emotion than anyone ever. It's like he is truely experiencing what he is singing about & shares it with his audience.

This interview was done on Q CBC Canada with Tom Power. 23:39 I've never heard another recent interviewer offer Sir Tom condolences on the loss of Linda five years after her death. Tom was taken a little off guard and obviously moved. Tom Power also let him talk without interrupting and thus you see more and more of the real man. He has interesting connections to Canada and those "crazy times" in Vancouver. Said he didn't know if he had done as well with the voice he was given as he should have. Oh yes you have done more than was probably expected when it was given. Another great recent interview was on WTF podcast with Marc Maron. He talked freely with these two interviewers. They brought out the best in him which was great for all of us to see.
Who would ever think that a child who had TB and survive it would come out of it without damaged lungs , and then go on to become one of the best singers of our time!. I think that Sir Tom’s family put up very powerful prayers for him, not only was he cured but his lung power was amazing! God doesn’t do things half way! Thank God and thank you Sir Tom for the wonderful entertainment over the years!
What a wonderful man Sir Tom is! Not only is he one of the best singers and entertainers alive but he is a loving respectful son to his parents! Awesome story the way he rescued his father from working in the coal mines by financially supporting his parents. God bless you Sir Tom!

How far we’ve come. No indoor plumbing. I’d like to say that my Grandfather also was a miner in the Hazleton-Scranton, PA area. The mines finally killed him from black lung, rat bites and a broken back.
It’s wonderful what Sir Tom did for his Father.
The white lung killed my grandfather after working for years as a young man in a thread mill. I guess they didn’t realize the danger to your lungs back then....
I remember years ago when Tom was younger, in an interview he said that a singer's career began to decline when he turned 30. However it did not happen like that. good. and he keeps singing he's still handsome 😉😊 Saludos desde Panamá
What a great career this man had throughout the years. I saw him in Vegas in the 90’s at Bally’s and he was absolutely fantastic. His wife was so prolific when she was sick. She seemed like such a remarkable woman. The way Tom describes her, you could see how she had such strength and she loved Tom and her family. She wanted him to keep singing. She knew singing was Tom’s passion. Sir Tom, keep going, we all love you. Stay strong!

What he did for his father was just a wonderful thing to do...being a pop star doesn't compare to that...
Tom’s very down to earth. He’s a let’s have a pint kind of a guy. There is no pretense.
My first cousin,Tim Melancon from Raceland ,Louisiana, had a band "Little Big Band"& wrote Sweet Marie. He made the charts in UK. I'd love to hear Tom Jones sing it! He reminds me very much of my cousin. A very fun,loving, down to earth person. Always joking around & bringing laughter & love to all he meets! & MUSIC!!!

Great interview. Nobody injects emotion into music and lyric like Tom Jones. In Canada Tom was on the radio all the time! He doesn't just deliver the lyrics, he sings the meaning. Thank God you had the confidence and drive to pursue your ambition otherwise the world would have lost great treasure.

He is a joy. And a tremendous talent. Sometimes overlooked, but he has been around, still singing his heart out worldwide since 1965.

What a fabulous interview!! Tom Jones was one of my first loves in music. When I babysat for my older brother he paid me in records, as he was a DJ. Tom's album was one of the first LPs that I took. Tom's voice is so unmistakable when you hear it and pulls you in. I love it. I've been lucky to see Tom perform two times in Windsor, ON. Once at the University of Windsor's Field House, I believe in the early 80's, and once at Caesar's Windsor about five years ago. They were both spectacular shows!! I cannot wait to get his new album!
Tom is the best! Saw him in his show in Houston, Tx in 70s or 80s. Still love him!

Thank you for this excellent interview with a very unique person and performer. I remember the Canadian show which was done about ten years after "This Is Tom Jones". The Canadian show was a much lower budget production and though entertaining, really highlighted how important the musicians and orchestration are to the performance. This show featured a more synthesized sound which was popular at that time and I believe it really didn't do justice to Tom's fantastic voice and unique style. I also noticed this with other singers when performing with certain orchestrations of their music, which do not do justice to their talent.

@@darlenegoodwin The Canadian Tom Jones show was broadcast 1980-1981. The series "The Right Time" was broadcast in 1992-1993. This was an excellent show which featured Tom with guests from different genres of popular music.

I m glad I listened to this interview. Youve been blessed to enjoy your career and family. So sorry about your wive's death. I understand the Crumble song better. Ive been preparing my children & grands for when my time is no more. Crumble I did but not in front of my husband. I was so sure the doctors would fix him an he'd be coming home. I couldnt shake the feeling that our time together was coming to an end. We knew each other since I was 16 yrs old. Time flew by. I know he's in heaven with our 2 children. I told him to give them their names finally. How long married were we? 33 yrs 4 months 3 weeks an 2 days. We're not promised tomorrow so live each day with a thankful heart an love.❤😊

I only these last couple of days have been listening to as many Tom jones interviews as possible. As a kid we of course have such a different perspective of him. While I’d be in the library nightly in Sweden putting on headphones listening to him only in 1976. Now I see just what nice guy he is. You only have to ask Tom one question, and he won’t stop lol. I don’t think he has any intention of stopping. Only that every interviewer quickly sneaks another question in. Love it. He has a memory like an elephant and enjoys every second of it. This interview I’d have to say is maybe the best. The kid interviewing Tom is really comfortably likable. And Tom, he is like a kid again and is One happy camper.
