  • Missed out on some trailers in part 1, so here's a separate video covering the rest of the Total War Warhammer 2 cinematic trailers. Honestly, I'm kinda warming up to the Skaven. They seem to bring really fun and chaotic warfare wherever they go.

9:00 that little lizard guy is Oxyotl. A chameleon skink. The Unseen Hunter. A total badass who has been killing demons since the First Great Chaos Invasion millenia before the start of the main story. The reason he lived that long is cuz he was lost in the Realm of Chaos where time is irrelevant and war is eternal.
Suffice to say, that little skink is the Lizard version of the Doomslayer.

funny thing about Grom the paunch, he is a goblin that was forcefed troll meat, trolls constantly regenerate so the meat in his gut kept growing until he was the size he is now and it ended up giving him the power of regeneration aswell as a horrible hunger, which goes into one of his faction mechanics where you cook food from bits you gather from other factions like dwarf ale or things from the sea to make him and his armies stronger

    • @Brutalyte616
      @Brutalyte616 6 місяців тому +20

That's one version. Another version says Grom willingly ate the troll meat as part of a dare. And while Grom has gotten bigger and fatter, he doesn't really eat that much to maintain his gut, but CA wanted to lean into the 'Haha! Funny fat goblin!' angle, because it's easy to work with.

    • @Nightmare_52

Never heard of that version then again it wouldn't be Warhammer without confusing lores that can change on a whim, I prefer the one I listed though as it's pretty funny a bit of torture for fun resulted in the biggest goblin ever

@@Nightmare_52 Yeah, Grom is an old character, and there's basically two versions of the story of how he became the fat bastard we know and love today. One says he was forced into eating the troll meat for the amusement of the Orcs in his tribe, while the other says he willingly entered an eating contest and chose to eat troll meat.
Either way, Grom spent WEEKS teetering on the edge of death as his body fought to digest the troll meat in his guts, suffering horrendous agony and flatulence, much to the amusement of his tribe. Eventually, his body acclimated to the troll meat by taking on its regenerative qualities, although the meat is presumably still in his gut to this day, fueling his continued growth, freakish strength, and tremendous girth while giving him HORRENDOUS gas.
Grom then proceeded to conquer his own tribe and the local orc and goblin tribes before embarking on one of the the single most successful military campaigns the Warhammer Fantasy world has ever seen through a mixture of luck and his own competence in the face of one of the most ineffectual and cowardly Emperors in Imperial history. Then he got bored with curb-stomping everybody, took up chariot racing as a hobby, and then at the behest of a crazy Orc Shaman decided to completely fuck off from the Old World and sail across the sea and blindly drift to Ulthuan, the lands of the High Elves. Because he thought that would be more fun.
And let us not forget Grom's eternal hype-man Niblet, a goblin who somehow managed to survive getting sat on by Grom for hours and wound up having a religious experience from having his poor nose pressed right up to Grom's ass-crack. The horrors he must have witnessed...

@@Brutalyte616 To be fair, Grom was also a notorious hedonist so him stuffing himself with "fine" food wouldn't be at all unusual for him. That and one of his goals in the campaign is to get even fatter (which gives actual permanent buffs) so there's that.

The chameleon skin in the last trailer is known as the doom guy or john wick of fantasy, snikch the skaven assassin is so good at his job the rule of thumb is if he has a contract on you you are dead. • @lich109

Ikit Claw is not the head of Skryre, he's just one of the most notable members.
Edit: unless you mean he's the head of it in the game, since the game doesn't include any of the actual heads of the clans.

The Vermintide has a complete disregard for their own ranks. They're just as likely to gun down their own rats if it means the enemy is also caught in the crossfire. And they use double speak.
"We will shoot the manlings, yes-yes!" They have a mix of Florida man and Bear Grylls. It's kind of legendary in that regard. The Skaven also have a dark God called the Great Horned Rat. Is it a chaos God? I don't know, but he's delightfully spooky.

Oh nice, the missing trailers, they're the best of the bunch, and there's a lot to talk about these lol. As you spotted, the first one is indeed a Predator reference.
Hunter and the Beast is a big Jurassic Park reference, Shadow and the Blade is Dirty Dancing, Warden and the Paunch is half a The Dark Knight reference for the elf side (after all Eltharion is elf Batman), and a Mad Max Fury Road reference for the Greenskins. And Twisted and the Twilight is a Frankenstein reference on the Skaven side.
Also as you guessed, the Skaven leader Snikch in the Shadow and the Blade is a master assassin from the Eshin clan. The dark elf is Malus Darkblade, protagonist of the books of the same name, and he is possessed by T'zarkan, a Slaanesh greater deamon.
And for the last trailer, the little skink is one of the most badass lizardman in the setting. He is fucking ancient, he witnessed the very first Chaos invasion and got accidentally sent to the Realm of Chaos. As a chameleon skink he managed to stay hidden in it until the Realm spat him out far in the future. He got out of the Realm. Of. Chaos. in one piece and uncorrupted. The Slaan straight up refused to read his mind about what happened because they fear even they wouldn't resist the corruption and madness.

He fought on a bridge and killed so many that Daemons will straight up not go to that bridge.
The Minotaur in the last one is Taurox the Brass Bull a Doombull that killed so much that Khorne blessed him with brass skin and a fire within. Think Achilles with his weak spot.

the giant rat with the power armor is Ghoritch the Castellan of Hell Pit. he was a norscan berserker but after he lost Archaon The Everchosen give his body to Throt the Unclean. so Throt made a rat ogre body and put Ghoritch's brain in side it. Ghoritch is all so the prototype version of the Stormfiends.

    • @pile-o-nonsense3688
      @pile-o-nonsense3688 6 місяців тому +3

Ghoritch wasn't the prototype for the Stormfiends. That "honor" goes to the poor packmasters that Throt grafted onto a group of normal rat ogres who attacked everyone in revenge. He later fixed that issue by breeding special, submissive Skaven with deformed bodies but large brains that could handle the job better. It wasn't until his trip to Skavenblight though where the Stormfiends where truly created as he work together with Ikit Claw who would give them a few of his weapon prototype that where too big to be used by normal weapon teams.
Besides that, Ghoritch never fought Archaon. He was send to Hell Pit by Archaon as a punishment for going against his orders.

To add to this, "Rogue Idol" is more of a gathering term for some magical greenskin constructs. There's nothing that really dicates how they have to look, only that they're somewhat humanoid. Outside of that it's all depending on the amount of greenskins ready to build one and the amount of magic in the area to make it come to life so they can look wildly different from each other, both in size and shape.

    Alright. Skaven Clan crash course.
So the Skaven Clans are ostensibly set up into four Great Clans that represent the key factions that are playable.
Clan Moulder, who are slavers, beast tamers, and breeders of monstrous creatures, from the humble giant rat and Tunneling Beast, to the berserk Rat-Ogres and the horrific Hellpit Abominations, named after Clan Moulder's capital city of Hellpit.
Clan Pestilens, the plague-monks who are religious fanatics that worship the Great Horned Rat in his guise as the bringer of disease. They are not Nurgle Skaven, by the way; Clan Pestilens and the followers of Nurgle, at best, respect and tolerate each other for their shared interests, but most of the time they fight viciously over philosophical and ideological differences.
Clan Eshin, who are an elite clan of rat ninjas and mercenary assassins that sell their services out to the other Clans rather than taking sides, at least overtly. They're also the ones generally tasked with getting rid of people in the Empire who try and blow the lid off the Skaven's existence and start rallying the people against the Ratmen.
Last but not least is Clan Skryre, who are the scientists, inventors, tinkerers and engineers of the Skaven, obsessed with using crystalized magic called Warpstone to make great if unstable leaps in Skaven technology. Most of them are batshit crazy and regularly blow themselves up, but their list of accomplishments include standardized Warpstone firearms from Jezzail rifles, Ratling Guns, and Warpfire throwers, to Warpstone explosives that range from grenades to nuclear-grade missiles, as well as Warpstone-based mining equipment, the invention of a Warpstone-based communication device called a Far-Squeaker, the cultivation of Black Corn and other foodstuffs via the application of Warpstone's mutagenic properties, and a potion that can extend the Skaven's tragically short lifespan of about 3 to 10 years into the hundreds that presumably uses Warpstone as a key ingredient. Clan Skryre just LOVES putting radioactive green crack rocks in everything...
In addition to the four Great Clans, there is also the Grey Seers, a caste of Skaven mystics and mages devoted to the Horned Rat, marked at birth by a mutation that gives them grey fur and horns. While not numerous enough to ever be a Great Clan in their own right, they are nonetheless regarded as the interpreters of the Horned Rat's will in the times when he does not deign to appear before the Skaven, and it's generally considered by the Skaven to be a bad idea to mess with them. They also tend to fill the role of mages in Skaven armies, although there are Skaven mages outside of the Grey Seers, like the warlocks-engineers of Clan Skryre and the plague-monks of Clan Pestilens.
There's also Clan Mors, another playable faction who are a militaristic Clan known for possessing the unusual qualities of bravery, loyalty, and martial discipline, at least by Skaven standards. They are currently vying to become the next Great Clan, but the other Clans do everything they can to keep Clan Mors down.
On that note, while there are four Great Clans, the Skaven as a whole are governed by the Council of Thirteen; twelve Lords of Decay, who are the leaders of the 12 most influential Skaven Clans. The 13th seat is held by the Great Horned Rat itself, who has absolute authority over the Council, although the Horned Rat very rarely interferes with the Council directly since the Grey Seers and Clan Pestilens both have seats on the Council and generally act in the Horned Rat's interests anyways, and one cannot become a Lord of Decay without first being tested by the Horned Rat and being granted his blessing; incidentally, that is how they survive the test to begin with.
Fun Fact: The current Lords of Decay sitting on the Council of Thirteen have all held their positions for hundreds of years despite constant attempts to overthrow and assassinate them over the years.
As an aside, many writers, including those at Creative Assembly, favor the cackling egomaniacal mad scientist angle of Clan Skryre and apply it to all Skaven, but that is just a stereotype.

    Grom the Paunch!
Ok, the bloated goblin is Grom, he was a young goblin boss that one day ate raw troll meat; now, as it is usual in fantasy, troll regenerate A LOT... and so does their meat. Once he ate, he spent many days between life and death, in a conflict to see if he would be able to digest the meat faster than the meat was regenerating and... he won!
Now Grom is so fat he can't even see his legs but, as he sees it, he's powerful enough that he can just order other goblins to see his legs for him, as a proxy (greenskin logics, don't question it just... go with it), HOWEVER he reached such a size that, for game purposes, he can cast as a full blown ork while still being a goblin (on the tabletop, ork casters cast different spells than goblin casters).
Imagine being so fat that magic itself aknowledges you as a DIFFERENT SPECIES!
