I'm having back pressure issues. The water pump is brand new. It pumps fine if the rubber cover for the gear linkage is off, but it won't pump at all if it's on. An old guy that worked on these motors years ago told me to drill some pressure relief holes. I'm trying to figure out where, and what size. Other than that, the motor is mint. It's an 84, and was used a total of 4 hours in the 80's. I'd be a shame to junk the motor for such a stupid problem.

I have the exact same outboard but mine will not run without putting into the gas

It will cut off if my hand is not on it
