I could NOT for the life of me remember this from Fire & Blood and I was so so so worried they were just gonna take both kids out. One is ofc horrific, but both…well…would’ve been twice as bad
I finally caught up on HOTD yesterday -- I almost didn't want to watch it because last season didn't hit me right. Like, it was weird, I was watching it, and able to recognize that it is "good tv", and not enjoying the experience of watching. I think it just made me feel bad and I didn't want that? LOL But for some reason, maybe because I'm just in a different mental space, this season I'm actually enjoying so far. Anyway, I just remembered you did reactions last season and thought i'd see if you were doing them again and yay! So now I'm settling in to catch up on your reactions!
Ok now that I've actually watched the whole reaction: I enjoyed the episode and didn't really find it slow - it all felt like very dense and exciting character work like in season 1. I think of this show's main genre as tragedy, so B&C can be as climactic to me as an actual battle. Re Aegon suddenly seeming like less of a psychopath: I think I agree with what I've seen from other fans - he is enjoying the attention he gets from the common folk's admiration. I never really thought he was a psychopath so much as just a spoiled brat with a disregard for the suffering he inflicts. He never got any attention from Viserys so he just does nothing but indulge his random urges. Then he gets crowned and a whole audience cheers for him, and he discovers the high of feeling like people love him. Him trying to be "magnanimous" to the peasantry is chasing that high some more, enjoying the attention and trying to evoke adoration. And that's an important comparison to Rhaenyra, I think. A boy gets crowned and the crowd goes wild, but Rhaenyra has seen that the prospect of her own coronation is an object of ridicule by puppet shows on the street.
@@maxsilva11 ok I kinda love this analysis. As a Targaryen of course I’ll always be half expecting him to do something insanely violent, but for now, the way his “rule” is playing out is quite interesting. Still annoyed it’s happening at since that’s Rhaenyra’s throne, but it is compelling to watch.
But I do appreciate him hearing what Rhaenyra wanted, and immediately setting out to make it happen. But yeah, bro needs to check himself 9 times outta 10.
Emma D’Arcy only saying one line all episode and everything else just be emotion was amazing
Absolutely slayed their part without a doubt. Who needs words when you can communicate so much without them?
I took the slowness as theis being the "calm before the storm", we all know the war is coming and the Greens needed a reason to fully prepare for war
Absolutely. Super common for things to start slow so they can properly ramp up!
your reaction was the same as mine at the end

I rewound and watched that dragon dismount like 3 times, lol
Kritterys. A totally PG name that definitely does not sound like anything else. 😂
100% above board. Easy mashup between my name and a common end to a Targaryen’s name. Nothing to see here 😅

daemon remains the most stupid and impulsive bloke in the lands

@@KritterXD its great he listened. Less great his plan was 'send two randos to get most difficult job on show done'
@@johncmousley lol very true
