I am glad that most kids have no idea that 0.3mm pencils exist. We'd have waaaay more of those "lead in the hand" incidents if they had.
P200 SHARP MASTER RACE 😎
I had mechanical pencils when I got to middle school. I got distracted by them every time~
I think I still have a bit of pencil lead in my hand, its quite faint now
Overhere we once had an intelligence test in junior high with these and we never use these where I live so I think for most it was the first time they saw them.
Immediately they provided with an indication of their intelligence when they tried to stab themselves with them.
To tell you the truth i was the quiet kid in my school and the last time a bully and a pencil was involved with me let me just say he got scarred for life that was back in elementary.

I genuinely thought she was going to mention the improvised "weapon" I saw kids make in HS. You basically use a rubber band to make it so the inner, movable bit of the pencil can be pulled back and released. Painful, but not super dangerous, also left weird marks on the skin.
Also, while I never got stabbed by the lead of a mechanical pencil... i sharpened my normal pencil so much that 20yrs later I still have a grey spot on one finger from a mishap. I had a few of those, but this one I couldn't dig out.
I Remember That from Elementary and Middle School

I didn't remember hiding a pen lead but a small CR2505 battery with an open connection, waiting for someone to close them. Courtesy to someone teaching me about them online.
The internet, a blessing and a curse..
Listening to Mio talk about this was funny. I remember being stabbed a fair few times in pencil "sword fights" as a kid, but this definitely wasn't a wide-spread problem/prank where I grew up in the US, thankfully. Childhood pranks vary from country to country, but getting stabbed by pencil lead is definitely not one you'd hope to experience lol.
Not sure how the rest of the world does it but I use to sharpen my pencil with a knife. Yup we carry knives to school
I got stabbed with pencil lead before, not because of a prank or anything though. I was running with it tip pointing into my palm and when I ran into a wall it stabbed itself into there. It was able to stick out, stuck in my palm lol
Kids can be monsters like that. I do remember being forced to use regular pencils in elementary school, and finally being able to use mechanical pencils in the higher grades was revolutionary. Constantly sharpening was history, and a broken lead was a only minor inconvenience. Luckily, pencil stabbings weren't very common around me.
I used to use a plastic mechanical pencil like Mio used back then, but after handling a few drafting pencils, those fancy pencils that the MioFa showed do feel much better. The extra weight and better balance and rigidness make a difference in the hand.
