Machel Montano was the spark that ignited the children to embrace Soca. He was young and attractive and energetic!. No one can deny his gift and contributions to soca music.
I'm happy to see soca branching out but I hope people remember where it came from and that we started it but music is for everyone

Toronto Caribana also paid great honors to Machel through Louis Saldenah Mas Band when the Title of their presentation was ""TRIBUTE TO MACHEL MONTANO'' in 2016; where the entire costume production was based on Machel's songs. Machel also had a section in the band and also a special music truck was assigned to him in the Parade.

Is there a Machel montano park or street in Trinidad?. If not , that is a disservice to his legacy. He is the Kingdom of soca. Machel montano is the pulse of soca. When I think of. Great, performers of Trinidad i think of Machel montano.

I love that people are embracing soca but I hope it doesn't come to the point where trinidadians and all are being told it's not there music all should embrace it all of us can be joined by music but we shouldn't forget where dis came from but we love to see caribana and all but it is our culture it's a part of we it should be embraced but all but not forgotten from what it is a part of the West indies
