Drew Aller is an offensive PI call and a dropped post from being 14/21 300 plus. He made some big time throws that were dropped on 3 and 17 and the play before that the whole shot in the cover two the play before.
Bowling Green had 32 seniors. I don’t care about 4 star ratings and all of that. They were a veteran team and played really well.Their QB and TE are a menace. It was a good test and wake up call.
In the first half, BG's qb couldn't be sacked b/c his release was so quick and it didn't matter how tight the coverage was b/c the passes couldn't have been more accurate.
It’s great that they adjusted at the half. Why didn’t they adjust on the fly in the middle to end of the first quarter instead of waiting until the half?
My two takeaways from giving up 24 points. Their quarterback played like a Heisman trophy winner in the first half. I don't care who you are when the ball is perfectly placed almost every time you're going to get scored on. Second, PSU players were in position to make tackles and yet time and time again they didn't. There were far far too many missed tackles in that game. So if Penn State defense fails to make tackles and runs up against a quarterback who is essentially handing the ball to a receiver anywhere on the field yeah they're going to have trouble. But so is every single solitary defense out there. What we can do is clean up the tackling. We can't stop the other team from a three-step drop. We can't stop a quarterback from having the game of his life. We can't stop receivers catching perfectly placed balls. In these kinds of games all we can do is tackle better and keep scoring more points. So kudos to the offense, cuz they looked phenomenal! By the way Manny gave up big plays last year. Especially when he couldn't get to the quarterback. There was no way to get to that quarterback so I'm not sure how Manny would have been any better.
BG was a better team than PSU and their fans thought they were. Give BG the credit they deserve. The wake up call for PSU could not have come at a better time with the by week here. Now it’s the coaches time to clean up their game.
I get the outcoached part of it, but as other people have pointed out, the tackling on the run plays did not look good in either half. And what I mean by that is a 2 yard run often would end up as an 8 yard run because they were trying to muscle the ball carrier to the ground. And yes, why did Tom Allen wait until the half to make the adjustment. Get out of the coaches box and down to the field. Do some.... y'know... coaching.
PSU may be a playoff team with some good fortune and steady improvement week to week. But if you watched Texas Michigan you know how recruiting matters and we aren't at the Texas level. Team speed and size is just better. Something is going to have to change to get athletes from the south.
The first bye week, comes at a perfect time in my opinion!!! 2 weeks to put in the work and get healthy, and make adjustments that are needed!!! The coaching staff will earn their money 💰 in the next 2 weeks, hopefully in a good way 👍!!! WE ARE 🏈 Unrivaled Look at it this way, we battled and won, and didn't pull a ND, or Iowa??? WE ARE
Abdul Carter tried to speed rush around the LT almost every time, and consistently got pushed outside the play. Made himself a total non-factor that way. He played like a worse Aaron Maybin
@@bamapsu6906 Carter won the Heisman at EDGE in my first season of CFB25 on Xbox, but he seemed not to over-pursue as much there (and the DTs kept him a bit cleaner)
Defensive players played like crap 1st half, especially the right CB. When you play cover 1 you are taught from grade school to not let the receiver get to the outside because your help is inside. Guess what? On two TDs the CB let the receiver get to the outside where he had no help. Also Rojas may be the next LB stud at PSU but he needs to play with more discipline and fill his gap not hang out 5 yards off the line.
Penn State's defense has taken a step back this year (depth at linebacker in particular), the offense has improved, and special teams are about the same as last year. The overall net effect is that the team is about as good as it was last year. The end result MIGHT be better this year ( 11-1 has a reasonable chance of happening), but that is primarily because the schedule and the B1G as a whole are weaker this year. Penn State's defense is going to be torched by any team that has two good wide receivers and an accurate quarterback with a quick release. Fortunately for us, USC is the only team on the schedule who has both of those attributes and their defense is suspect. If Penn State played in the SEC, the defense would be gutted by Georgia, Texas, Ole Miss and Tennessee.
@@ryansheard8092 They showed Franklin after every big play against the defense. He was mainly rubbing his chin. I didn't see Tom Allen down on the field to make adjustments, did you? If you were getting gashed, 30-40 yards a play like penn state was, you'd run down to the field pronto, not wait until half the game was over. Let's be real here, the coach from BG in his post-game smiled and said "I liked our game plan, it was working very well, especially in the first half". That's called "getting outcoached". I'm more than happy that I've now educated you.

I thought he had a great game, and he's the reason why they were close the entire game.
Agreed, Nick Singleton and Tyler Warren as well!!! Them 3 are going to be very huge for our Nittany Lions 🦁 success 🙌 this year!!!! WE ARE

Stop making excuses-what happens when you play USC and OSU come on man-Would GA give up 27?????

You know that BG QB came from Indiana and knows DC Allens Defense!!!
Your shutout prediction didn't age well....😂
Nate Bauer had it 63-7. We had a lot of "experts" way off on this one.

Give BG credit..but play defense vs OSU like that...48-14 Bucks.
Who is the defense captain that is the on field coach that should be getting players lined up? My gripe with coaching was not starting Harris at CB

Aaron Maybin was a beast for an undersized DE.
An unfortunate hick up. Let's use this bye week to clean things up.
Wake up call makes it sound like we were sleep walking through the game.. was that the case or was that the good on good result?
I agree that we were outcoached but had the better team and pulled out a win.
Omari had 1 drop it was bad but overall looked good. Dotson 2.0
Evans is Dotson 2.0 should have had 2 td’s
Horrible take. Nowhere near the talent Dotson was/is.
Defense was completely out coached in the first half. They weren’t lined up correctly and were not gap controlled at all
In the first half plus execution was not on par by players also

1-0 1-0 1-0 Beat Kent State
I disagree about being outcoahed. Well coached teams make adjustments and come back.
We learned that the band members can tackle better than the football team.

I think we all can agree that West Virginia is just a terrible team. They will win 3 games at best and the big 12 is now worse than the MAC.
I bet he’s a JoePa sycophant!
You should have scheduled Michigan lol
poor tackling all game long for the most part. just not physical. give Beau more playing time. 44 was MVP, dude is a stud.
We are always out coached. This is not something we just found out now. All you James Franklin apologists can get bent. You don’t know football.
😂😂.....that's such an absurd and uneducated take.
