- Savannah, GA has some rough looking places! While Savannah is known to some as a wonderful place for culture, architecture, and tourism, this city is also very high in crime and poverty. It also has quite a bit of dilapidation in certain areas (although they seem to be working a lot on that). Let's take a drive and check out some of the worst and most dangerous places!
As for someone that lives in Savannah you are spot one. Some places are just amazing, but then you drive 5 minutes in the wrong direction is turns ugly really quick.
The other issue is the cost of purchasing some of these run down homes.

I'm from Savannah and all the places he was showing you mostly was from the projects and the areas where people just do drugs but you have some beautiful places in Savannah

I live nearby, Savannah is actually quite a good place to live. Obviously there are some shady places like any city but downtown isn’t too bad at all

I live here and I would say it is not the best location to move to if you were thinking about it. It's a beautiful city but it's best to just visit here. Cost of living has been skyrocketing over the last couple of decades and the city clearly is catering to the college and tourist experience. Homeless people are everywhere but the city has been trying to hide it. They recently cleared out a huge homeless community that was just outside the city out of the way of people.
If the city would repair all these empty homes and buildings and put them to good use we can decrease the homeless population but they prefer to just let it sit there empty and ugly. It's sad really.
I moved to Hinesville alot cheaper. I'm born and raised off Delessep Ave... Savannah been getting bad for long term residents
This looks like an upscale neighborhood compared to Detroit.

A lot of people are just barely surviving day to day. They barely have enough food to eat.
Well, their project housing looks better than some. Still a lot of blight. Seeing those French Colonials in that shape is sad.
Is the projects housing equivalent to uk council housing? 🤔
Savannah is just like any other old city…good areas and bad areas. I recently relocated here from the DC area…it’s the same there. I choose to live in the suburbs.
St Augustine is way better and prettier
Love my hometown of savannah, it has really changed since I left. Trust me it was wayyyyy worse in 2009.

It's a thing here in Georgia. Savannah is mostly beautiful. The small towns you drive through can be more depressing than this. Lots of empty, dilapidated shells of buildings and houses. I have lived here for almost 10 years and it still baffles me why they don't tear down their crumbling buildings. But they are everywhere.
for such a historic place I would never have imagined such disparity. I didn't know it was so large.

I live in Savannah(I'm not from here) and some parts are pretty but for the most part this is what it look like...sad but true
Some Amazing old homes all boarded up...such a shame. Is it Unemployment there? Poverty? Buisness decline? People leaving the state??? WOW
There’s a lot of poverty and crime is high but the population isn’t on the decline like many other cities in Georgia. There is quite a bit of rough spots but with the rebuilding going on I expect a lot of what’s on this video to be quite different in the near future.

I'm from Savannah and I say it's the big business and SCAD (expensive college) that are moving into the city and making the cost of living shoot up. Not to mention the city has also been growing because of lots of tourist and movie studio attention. Like all growing cities the gap between rich and poor widens and locals have to relocate to a cheaper area.
I look at all of these old houses and I can picture them as younger. But those great big beautiful old trees always catch my eye. Sometimes though when you drive through these neighborhoods, I sometimes feel like I'm there and I almost get nervous when people turn to look at the car...
Viewing from Canada, it just seems sad and depressing. I'm going to do some inquiry to learn more about why it's like this.

I love these videos. There is a low rumble in the audio though that I would recommend removing. It might not be noticeable on mobile, but on my TV's sound system it is really annoying.
Thanks for letting me know. I've been trying everything possible to get a clear audio, what youre probably hearing is the wind spiking from the camera. I checked it on mobile phones and it doesnt affect that, once in a while a good surround sound i can hear it. Im going to try a different setup and experiment.
