Well after ten long documentaries we're finally at the end of the first war of Scottish independence, it's been incredibly fun to research and learn so much about this moment in time. Thank you all for watching.
The Scottish wars of independence are most certainly my favourite. Such a great underdog story. I watch this channel with as much intent as any good Netflix series. 👍🏻
I love this battle a lot and the reason is because I play the tenor drums in a pipe and drum band that is named after the famous famous mighty and brave black watch
I’d give anything to have David Mackenzie come back and do a follow up from Outlaw King focusing on the days leading up to this historical two day battle. 'These men will conquer or die' 🏴
@@Embracehistoria I say we set him the challenge 😜 He absolutely nailed Loudoun Hill, it was perfect so think about what he could do on an even larger scale.
@@TeamLNE The first war (the main war really) of Scottish independence would have been a great trilogy. First one starts with the death of Alasdair (Alexander) III, follows Wallace. To be honest I'm thinking the timeline of Braveheart but more historically accurate haha. Outlaw King is the 2nd one. Then the third climaxing with Bannockburn.
@@xWHITExEAGLEx I'm liking that idea! If there was a prequel to Outlaw King I'd want to see the Battle of Roslin where John Comyn and Wallace fought side by side to defeat an enormous English army, said to be 30,000 strong. That would lead towards Outlaw King but they deleted a scene from the film where we would have seen Bruce stumbling upon Wallace who has been hiding in the forest. Wallace calls Bruce a coward but then proves himself with the victory at Loudoun Hill....fast forward to Bannockburn!
Which pisses me off the most here, seeing the arms of the Kings of France (La Fleur de Lys) on the dirty English roastbeef side... It is at the level of a sacrilege!
Yep that is part of the quarter cos the English king claimed the throne of France as well. It was still in the royal coat of arms until 1801 when it was removed.
The English definitly didn't know how to fight the Scottish in most of their battles! Especially at the battle of the bridge or where the scottish were on the hills! Such skillful tactics are true warefare while the english just fought mindlessly! With hills or dangerous terrains the best option as a british famous with the longbows is to cut them down with archers while defending the archers from attacks and as the longbowmans take them down and the spearmans r on the defnence from the arrows from the sky they would loose their grip of the spear to point at the knights I would use the knights to charge them from the back same time as the archers shoot and send half the Infantry to charge the front and that would confuse the infantry from front and back and would finish them off for good! The English just charged at the spearmen mindlessly and right into their spears with horses that is not skillful and no way to fight an infantry of spears!

Love your videos! Keep them coming! Maybe some videos on the anglo Saxon migration to Britain and the Norman conquest?
This is one of the best historical videos on this subject i have seen,
I love this battle a lot and the reason is because I play the tenor drums in a pipe and drum band that is named after the famous famous mighty and brave black watch
And I also love this battle because I am part Scottish because my grandfathers grandma on my dads sides maiden name was Murray
Literally don’t know a single male tenner drummer hahah

I agree, It would be a challenge to film I think.

I chuckled at that "roast beef side". Nice.

Shout out to my ancestor, Sir Robert Boyd, who was awarded lands in Ayrshire for his part in this fight 👍
Wow! That is some claim to fame you've got there. You should be very proud.
Robert the Bruce is clever

It baffles me and this is the same english who not long after this pulled of masterful victories across the channel
He missed out the best part :(
The quirky voice bubbles ruin this. Shame
