Clever trick on tipping the machine up to adjust the base. My WC46 arrives next week.
Great video. I can relate to the jackstands and floor jack. SOmetimes you have to improvise. My chipper delivers tomorrow.
No, not enough ballast weight in the back, that is why the front tire and almost flat. The wood chipper is almost 600 pounds
I love mine! Cheers from Mannisto Cay!
Just found your channel and enjoyed your chipper video. I have the 1025r but way more land to manage and should have gone to a 2 Series. I work it hard and it hangs in there. Now to write down the Woodlands Chipper on my Christmas list! 😉
Thanks 👍 Sorry haven't posted at all in a while. The 1025R is a champ we have done so much with it. Way more than expected. It may have been overkill for the 2 acres we had at purchase but we have 67 now.
Enjoyed the video. Nice new piece of equipment. As you spoke about your tractor and it being overkill at first; the beauty of machinery is that it will open your mind up to many more things than your intended use.
Just curious, how did you test your PTO rpm speed?
I didn’t actually measure the rotational speed. Just went with what was posted on the John Deere website. If I remember correctly it was 540 revolutions per minute. Don’t quote me on that 😂
Considering getting one of these for my 1025R, so appreciate seeing somebody with pretty much the same exact setup. Did you pay extra for the lift gate? I am wondering whether it's necessary, seems like the 1025R might be able to lift it (I've moved some huge pine logs with mine) but I always try to be conservative. Would appreciate any thoughts on the unit after a year and a half of ownership.
The 1025R we’ll get the job done. Just make sure you have plenty of ballast. If I was smart I would’ve put the backhoe and improperly inflated my tires. This was “curbside delivery”. I done recall paying extra. It’s heavy but, I’m confident I would be able to pluck it from the back of a truck.
Thanks for the reply. Seems like they include lift gate in the standard shipping fee so I guess I'm good either way. Pretty close to clicking "Buy" on this as I cleared a half acre of brush last month and have a lot of piles I don't want to burn. You in Mass. too? I'm out near the NY border.
Probably could saved your back a little and used PTO to lift initially and then lower the stand. Otherwise, chip away!
Thanks Matt. You are absolutely correct. In fact; this is the recommended procedure. It would have taken some effort to get the tractor. Sometimes we take shortcuts which are not shortcuts at all. We live and we learn. Thanks for the comment.
