Thank you Brian, for your great Support. You helped me out a lot as new Pilot. I really leared a lot of rc Aviaion in your Videos and you lead me the right Way for the Future about the Hobby. Thank you for your helpful Tips and Tricks. Greetings from Germany
Excellent! So glad we could help, and glad you're into the hobby we share! So much to learn, and it's an honor to help so many getting into and back into this hobby!
Beautiful flying, brian. Those stalls looked awesome! The leading edge vortex generators really let it hover. That is such a scale plane, its one of my favorites.
We did too!!! She's the master bedroom dweller...she's not allowed anywhere else in the house by our "main cat" - LOL - she sneaks out to eat and sneaks past to leave to go outside.
To use my spectrum gear for the R/T reverse thrust.. can I use the original ESC that came with it or do I have to change it? I’m new to the hobby and still learning but I did not want to use the reflex that came with the plane. I’m using spectrum AR8360T with AS3X and Safe Telemetry.. also Brian I noticed when you were putting the pa-18 1700 build together you use the smart 2700 30c 4s battery so I ordered three of those. I know that’s kind of pushing the limit, but does that battery work well in that plane for you any information you could give me I would so kindly appreciate thank you.
These planes come with different electronics, especially if you're watching an older video.. Here's how to tell if you can use REVERSE THRUST... look at the wire from the ESC and see if there's a YELLOW wire, WITH the normal three wires (Black - GND, Red - +VDC, White - Signal, YELLOW - Thrust Reverse Signal) Use JUST the signal lead on another free port of your Rx and switch from -100% to (+)100% to go from Forward to Reverse Thrust. We cover this in a lot of our Unbox Build Radio Setup videos, but not sure if we had Thrust Revers on this plane when we got it...BUT that doesn't mean you WON'T get it on yours. The FMS Predator ESC will sometimes come with Thrust Reverse and other times NOT...wish they would quit doing that. Makes it incredibly hard to help people understand HOW to do things, when they change features on a live release... Hope this helps. Please watch the WHOLE "Unbox, Build, Radio Setup" videos and you will learn answers to most of these questions. As a new pilot in RC, you will appreciate it, almost certainly. Good luck, and keep at it!
You will LOVE it. The Pa-18 1700mm is so much better. bprc.me/FMS_PA18 You probably don't even believe me, but it is a LOT more fun ;) If you can afford the SIZE and COST of the Carbon Z Cub 2.1m - bprc.me/CZ_Cub - that's one of the best big Cub experiences, but this is a close second, for like half the cost!!!! And it's easier to get it through the house ;)
Hello, what's your recommendation in a plane for someone who has never touched a rc plane in his life? I'm looking forward to getting into the hobby. (I don't have must trust in myself)
Hi Brian I am currently setting up my first FMS aircraft the PA-18 1.7m, with the reflex system is there any way of confirming which way the ailerons should compensate when in Optimised mode as i'm pretty sure mine are reversed even though my ailerons are set up correctly, if rotate the plane whichever wing is higher is giving up elevator and the lower wing is giving down elevator, surely this should be the other way round? Using a Spektrum 610 with an NX8 any tips would be appreciated!
Have you checked our UNBOX BUILD RADIO SETUP video? We cover this in the video - ua-cam.com/video/i1ZzGDXb280/v-deo.html Let me know if we didn't. Gotta get your Ailerons going the right way, and correction the right way too. Auto-leveling or just Stabilization - BOTH need to be correcting the right way, or you will crash. We've never had the Reflex work backward. Sounds like you may have the Reflex mounted in the wrong direction (Either they did it wrong at the factory, you mounted it wrong when you installed it, OR it broke free from the plane in shipping and you got it stuck back down wrong...??? Not sure). If this is true, the plane might correct the WRONG SURFACE and direction might also be wrong too. Another thing that might have caused your issue is if you happen to have the elevator plugged into the ailerons port and vice-versa from the Reflex, this could also happen. You have to track down this issue. If you still have issues, disconnect the Reflex, and plug directly to your Rx and make sure you're getting the movement you expect...you might and will more than likely find one of the wires swapped. I bet you have the elevator plugged into the Y cable WITH one of the ailerons, and it's a problem "hiding in plane sight"
@BrianPhillipsRC really appreciate your input Brian I have checked everything today and still the problem persists, I may just rip the reflex out and put a 637 in it's place!
Brian is more of a Spektrum guy, however his detailed radio setups are in my opinion the best in depth videos available that explain the concept behind different setups, as such they are always worth watching, there are some great Edge Tx setup videos available just try to get the most recent which will relate to the current version. I have been using it for a while and very happy with the results. Also just check the radio is running the latest version
I'm not really sure what to tell you with regard to the Radio Master Transmitters, since I've only done one, and I wasn't a huge fan. That being said, I've seen and heard very good things, so don't mean to poo-poo your plans, but there may be some difficulties following along on our videos. I hope there's a clear way to work with our videos, even on your Tx platform.
Lol man I’d be in heaven rc planes and when I needed a break for my neck I’d play in the D6 I think I’d have a scraper to lol , and your right with the addiction my name is Gary and I been addicted for ten years in hobby and I ❤ it 😂😂

i got the pa 18 1700mm I'm very new to the hobby ... bet everyone knows that by now ... i dont have lakes or ponds so i took it to the beach , i took off but got so scared i landed it after 10 seconds ..... how do i maintain servos , motor and other metallic parts from the salt ? , also it's really sensitive on its motion, :P it's so scary for me ...
The only reason I don’t like this for a beginner plane is it’s heavy enough that if you do nose dive it has the weight to destroy itself. “My first plane and I did this 2 times.” As far as flying it’s great and has a lot of characteristics a new pilot can learn on. I got a lot of benefit out of a carbon cub s2 mostly because I could make mistakes and it was light enough it didn’t do as much damage. So if I were to do it all over again I’d probably get that or the 1.3 version of this for a very first plane.

Got the Rock hard-diamond tipped blades- stock foamies back on her now. Also, watch for separation between the wheel and tire sections. That'll cause air seepage on those, too. 👍
Possibly. If you are using the Reflex stabilizer, you'll need to "lock" your mode in order to use thrust reverse.
