I saw one on display in the 90's at the local Chevrolet dealership when I lived in North Iowa which took pictures of the car & of the truck used to transport the car across the country to show the car.
NASCAR has so much more character, vibrancy and a sense of fun than Formula 1. F1 is sterile and totally dull in comparison. Would love to drive a NASCAR around Daytona one day.
Sooooo, some people are claiming this is not a RCR built #3. Why then, is it carried around and displayed by RCR? And to respond to a few other claims, this engine is cold. Everything in and about the engine is cold. They always sound like shit when they are cold. There is no choke on these engines. That being the main reason that the teams have auxiliary fluid and engine heaters running for an hour or so, to just before the start of a race. This is a flat tappet system, on a big camshaft, so it has a crappy sounding lope when it's cold. The clutch is far different from your passenger car, so it doesn't "ride" well. Just those reasons alone, makes for a rough sounding car that doesn't want to move. This is NOT a crate engine used in show cars.
Actually it's not a cold engine. It's an old ARCA engine. We had a number of NASCAR show cars like this at our State fair one year, (One was from RCR Clint Bowyer's 07, the Other was Jr.'s National Guard Chevy, and the last was Sadler's M&M's car.) It was part of an attempt to bring NASCAR into our State. Each of the workers tending these cars told me, they only need engines that will get the car on and off the truck, so they throw old ARCA engines in them, since they're cheaper to buy and repair than an official NASCAR engine. Everything else on the car is often the same as what you saw when the Car was used.

That being said, and call it what you will, the engine in this car is being cold started. It is old and used up, but regardless of what series it was used in, is a race engine. Kevin Skaggs it’s a nascar lmao. Rear gear ratio is so long it’s gonna take a while to take off from 0 unless you’re dumping the clutch like they do coming out of pit stalls. Can’t have sense to save your life!
