They will always mark it, but if you write only 30 or 50 words, there is a good chance that you didn't address all the topic points in the task, so you will probably lose marks.

But in a few other Videos there is sugested However as a linking word. I wouldn't use it because of the dictionary which it's describing as a formal word. Would you agree?
I don't think that 'however' is too formal. Zou can use it in an informal email as well, but you can also think about other options. Also, in the B1 exam, the email isn't very long so just make sure that you write something about each of the four main points in the task.
