One can't even imagine the amount of shame Benoit must have felt after murdering his family on his final day alive. All the memorabilia and toys of him in the house, his son saw him as a hero yet he made the irreversible choice to harm his family. Truly a tragic event.
His brain resembled that of a 85 years old with Alzheimer according to the autopsy. He probably didn't know what he was doing. People with dementia can sometimes be violent too. When he came to his senses he couldn't live with what he did so he killed himself too
