Joseph Dye That's also in the book American Sniper . The author conjectured that the burns and their treatment caused his MS . The book also documents that after his hospital stay he continued to strap on his leather shooting jacket and shoot his rifle . After his range sessions the burn scars would break open and his jacket would be bloody inside . But a few open , bleeding wounds wasn't enough to stop Carlos from punching the X Ring . Badass .

Thank you for the great video. I knew Gunnery Sergeant Hathcock. I trained under him back in 1977. He was an awesome man, and very much the gentleman as well. He called his white feather his "Catch me-fuck me" feather. In other words, that was his way of thumbing his nose at the VC and NVA. If you were good enough to kill him then he was good with that because you would have been better than him. Many tried, none succeeded. Semper Fi.

Let's be clear, the USMC gave him 100% of his pension and benefits. They did not discard him. Due to the multiple sclerosis, his ability to hold and fire a weapon was taken from him. Secondly, his severe scarring from the explosion he was in, led to his skin constantly ripping open and bleeding profusely when he tried to wrap the sling around his arm. This and the severity of his MS, forced the Marine doctors to medically discharge him.

Amazing how people overlook the fact that his last deployment to Vietnam ended in a train crash. In the post crash fire, he was burned over 65% of his body. He is also credited with going back into the fire to rescue two fellow marines. After returning to the USA and during his long recovery, hecontinued his duties in the marine corp establishing the marine scout sniper school. The burns effected his body so badly that his love of rifle competition was sadly cut short, as just the act of putting on a shooting jacket for competition was extremely painful. He was a world record holder for multiple shooting events. This is why he took up shark fishing! Lastly, most do not know that he served as range master and almost single handed built one of the finest rifle ranges in all the world.... the famed FBI RIFLE MARKSMANSHIP RANGE in Quantico Virginia. This range is so special that the US Government built a facility around it in order to utilize the range for training, you may have heard of it.... the FBI ACADEMY!!!!!

i dont know where you got your information from but unless that range was built after 1980 that 1000 yard range belonged to the marine corp and was known as weapons training battalion quantico. it was a 1000 yard range . looking at the pits from the 1000 yard line the barracks mess hall enlisted club sat nearest the road about an eight of a mile down the hill on the left side of the range .on the far side of the parking lot sat the cos office admin and the armory in one building . behind that was the building that housed the sniper school and the rooms for building and repairing sniper rifles. looking from the road the pistol range sat on the right hand side of the parking lot and the flagpole sat opposite pistol range . behind 1000 yard line and to the right sat sat the trap and skeet range the trap range was on the left and one or two skeet ranges on the right . there was a small building with a stone fireplace in front of the ranges and a white building to the right of all of them about 20 by 30 to hold clay pigeons and other equipment . that building was built between 78 and 80 . how do i know this ? because i and one other person built that building . the fbi academy sat down around a left hand bend from wtbn coming from the 1000 yard line. a 3 or 4 story building held some of the fbi offices and our marine px sat on the bottom floor. across the road sat large plane that i was always told was for training for hijackings. this was forty plus years ago now so the fbi may now own that range and may have changed it but unless they built a separate 1000 yard range right next to an existing one , which i doubt, that range was built for the marine corp. not the fbi academy. or are talking about a completely different type of range?

By 1975, when he was stationed on a submarine tender in Spain, doctors determined it wasn't Hathcock's burns that made his legs so weak he could not climb the ship's ladders,. It was multiple sclerosis.
And still he hung on, returning to Quantico, where he tried to shoot again. His scars would split open, soaking his sweatshirt with blood, but he would not leave the range until his fellow Marines pulled him away. By 1979 he was passing out from the combination of wounds and MS. Doctors said he could take no more.
In April of that year - 55 days short of 20 years service - Carlos Hathcock was retired from the Marine Corps with 100 percent disability.

    • @gcHK47
      @gcHK47 3 роки тому

The darkness might not have been total, and any rustling of grass, snapping of a stick, or noticed movement in the bush would give away his position.
Like the ninjas of medieval Japan, the sniper knows that patience and observation are the keys to a successful kill. Finesse over overwhelming force; patience before attacking.

Given a full Marine burial after her body as repatriated back to the states with a 6 Marine Honor guard. On the day she died, Gen. How wonderful to get rid of him when he was just 55 days shy of his full entitlements. Makes me sad to hear stories like that.

But they screw him. Do a little research. He received 100% of his pension and benefits.

Carlos was a American Hero! But I question the scope story! I also question Chris Kyle's book on a number of points. Some of the things he said he did, in my opinion, was very unlikely and/or illegal.

Why didn't the Marine Corps take care of this man!? 55 days from retirement? Really? The great Charles Hathcock?

I agree the marine corps shit on him. They could have kept him for 55 more days until he retired.

For that the military should have given him restricted duty so he could finish out his career and given his full retirement!!!!!!!!!
They did this to my father just 4 months shy of his full retirement, shame on the military for allowing this !!!!!!!!!!
