I have arthritis and pushing the arrows doesn't really work well, it gets more difficult each time I do this. Any suggestions for "old" hands, a possible work-around? Or maybe a different coffee machine?
Yes but after soaking or rinsing a few minutes the water will begin to run clear She failed to say that in the video but if you don't soak/ rinse the charcoal filter you'll be drinking that black water in your first few cups of coffee 🤮
Lol wtf....we have this same Keurig machine in our office but there's no filter section in the reservoir??? it's just empty space with the seat/spring at the bottom to let the water out .
You can buy a water filter holder online and add it to your machine, most come with two filters to get you started. Check Amazon or eBay, just type "Keurig water filter holder" in the search bar.
My coffee maker is similar but my water resevoir is at the back and there is no long cartridge cover to pull out to change,as the video shows and as customer service explained for me to do, there is nothing to grab and pull out, so how does anyone change a filter that this does not accommodate you to change, your youtube video did not help, I guess I will buy a different kind of coffee maker that makes it easier to clean 😢
I don't have the charcoal receptacle in my Keurig. My machine looks super similar to this. Do the older models have filters? Are they internalized and require disassembly?
The older models do not. I have the same problem and its very difficult to get a real answer online. We just have to clean it out more often and use fresh distilled water.
*a copy paste from website* The black dust from a water filter might look unappealing, but it’s harmless. Manufacturing activated carbon is safe for human consumption, and it isn’t regulated by the EPA. This means there’s no maximum amount of carbon we can consume that’s deemed “unsafe”.
Thank you for sharing. If it wasn’t for your tutorial, I wouldn’t know that there’s a filter in mine..probably threw it out and didn’t read the instructions. Luckily, I use filtered water. Thanks again for the tutorial.
Wrong instructions. After 5 minutes of soaking, you're supposed to rinse the new filter for 60 seconds first and also rinse out the bottom of the filter holder.
@Language Lab i don't recall what my question or comment was in regards to this . So your response to my spelling 🤔 is lost on me . Since, I am typically a good speller. Keurig. I am not or have not had issues with changing my filter
I use bottled water into, the water tank charcoal filter...and its blessed by the local priest every week..for five dollars...He asked for 10 but I told him the Rabbi down the street was getting 5 but I wasn't Jewish ....but willing to convert...
Keurig’s instructions tell you to soak the new filter for five minutes and then rinse it under cold water for one! Why didn’t you remove the water container and clean it while you’re at it? Lazy, lazy, lazy!
I use only bottled water in mine but also use the filter simply bc it came with one in it and I still get that slimy stuff inside the reservoir & hard water spots.. makes me wonder what's in the bottled water? Maybe just as bad as what I fear is in tap water 🤮🤮 scary times
No u need it trust n believe me bottle water u don’t know how long water was in bottom sitting at stores unless u have a filter o. Your sink for fresh water 💦
I cannot remove the cartridge holder it does not release the bottom of the cartridge holder
I wish you had shown the bottom of the filter assembly so we all could see how it looks 😞
Do you need to rinse it after?
😊 YES
Instructions in pkg Soak for 5min
RINSE: 60 SECONDS

Actually figured out that if i squeeze the part above filter in such a way that the arrows sort of pucker, it is easy to remove.
@@shawnkdodds bs, it doesn't easily remove😢
@@lynlynnielyn9188 My sad experience too, with my Keurig K-Elite. 😢😢😢

New filter every 3 months? For me it's been 4 years!
Thanks for telling me every 3 months
When I put the filter in water is the water supposed to turn black?
Yes but after soaking or rinsing a few minutes the water will begin to run clear
She failed to say that in the video but if you don't soak/ rinse the charcoal filter you'll be drinking that black water in your first few cups of coffee 🤮
Gloria below is correct, after soaking the new filter, rinse out the residual charcoal dust before using it.

@@99shadows66 awesome thanks!!! just bought one (:
I hope you all are properly cleaning that thing in the office. **sneers**
Flush the charcoal filter after soaking before putting it back in and wash water container it does get slimy 🙂👍🏼

I am having the same problem did you get answer
William Thomson I'm curious also.
@@danab4337 I also don't have the filter receptacle in mine. Have used it for few yrs, but until recently with filtered water

@@rmontero3796 I was wondering mine did not have a filter. Thanks. I have been using ours without one for years.
The water filter that came with my Keurig 500 Plus turned the water black when I soaked it. Not sure if I should use it.
That's normal just keep rinsing a few minutes before use, the black will go away

I had the same feeling, so I always washed the new filter until water comes out became clear.

Hmm after one year I just found out there was a water filter…it was a gift.
she said always remember to unplug your unit
Thank you so much hon. I didn't realize I could pull that long plastic part out without breaking it. Now I can put the filter in.
Wrong instructions. After 5 minutes of soaking, you're supposed to rinse the new filter for 60 seconds first and also rinse out the bottom of the filter holder.
You forgot to rinse the filter for 60 secs after soaking.
And it is supposed to last for two months, not three.
Gloria Lynn Jackson thanks this is my first kerwig

You suckers don't realize you don't need the filter if you're using bottled drinking water which is filtered much better.
Thank you very much for this video as I found it to be very helpful :)
THANK YOU! They don't have directions for this with my keurig.
Thank you for sharing😊.
How do you move the dial? Mine won’t move!!

I only continued to watch this video cuse she is so cute. I have the older Keurig that doesn't have this filter part.

You really don't need the filter if you're using bottled drinking water.
