  • Join me for an early spring Tench fishing session on the canal - The session starts at dawn walking the towpaths to find any signs of showing fish. A single tench rolling on the surface was enough to give the game away where fish were holding up - See how I approach early spring Tench fishing on the canals with that single show providing the catalyst for multiple bites over a 3 hour session.
    The equipment I used during this session is as follows -
    Korum Allrounder 3K Rods 11ft 1.25lb TC
    Korum Infernos 4000 size reels
    6lb Korum Feerder line
    Ready Heli Kit - Helicopter rig setup
    1.5oz Combi Feeders
    4lb Smokeshield mono hooklength
    Hook - Size 12 Korum Grappler
    Hookbaits - Red Maggot.. 2 x live, 2 x fake
    I can't share the venue for this session in-line with the rules from the club that runs the section. (sorry!)
    If you wish to get in touch with me - You can message me via my Facebook Page (Rob's Angling). I'll respond back as soon as I can.
    Thanks for watching

    How nice to see someone fishing away from commercially run, overstocked pools. Well done Rob. Excellent video. Good information in there as usual. 👍

    Brilliant, just ordered some of those rods, mainly for float fishing for carp with a centre pin and also for surface fishing 👍👍👍. You don't need broom stick rods for carp.

      They’re great rods - Really impressed with them. 👌👍

    Good to see that our canals are in a better state than our rivers.
    Do you ever fish at night for Tench?, as in my experience, you could catch four or five times as many after dark.
    Nonetheless, what a great way to spend a couple of hours, well done.🎣🎣

      I only have limited time with my job and kids so most of my sessions are 3-4 hours max. I do the odd few nights a year though 👍

    Lovely stuff Rob and some perfect looking tench. That canal looks huge, the widest part of my canals are turning basins and they still don’t look that wide 😮

      Thanks Steve - It’s a fair bit different to most of the typical Midlands canals for sure 👍🎣

    Great stuff bud, proper early tenching success! I don't know about you, but I've more than had enough of fishing in mud, my kit is absolutely filthy all of the time and I'm right fed up of cleaning it. This winter has been the worst I can remember. I was supposed to be having my first tench session today, but my club lake flooded really bad last night. One of the carp lads woke up at 2 am to see his shoes floating in 8 inches of water in his bivvy!

      Have tried the Exeter canal or the Tiverton canal they are not that far for you both are day ticket waters and you can bivvy up happy days

    Some lovely Tench but it's surprising what's in our canals that not many people fish these days which is a shame..but not sure if you have watched the Guru's fishing channel of under water footage of how fish react amazing and fascinating to watch 👍

    What do you think of those new 3K Allrounders? I know they are only £50 rods but when i looked at one in my local shop they seemed very hefty for a pound and quarter rod.

    • @RobsAngling
      @RobsAngling  Місяць тому

      Hi Mark, sorry for the delay. I’ve been using these for 2-3 months now - They’ve got great versatility for a light rod. Had plenty of tench with a couple of unintentional carp to 18lb by chance. They’ve handled whatever I’ve needed them to do well so far casting out to around 60-70 yards. I’d recommend them 👌👍

  • @colindean8261
    @colindean8261 10 днів тому

    Uhh...why are they "wild" tench? Do they have tame ones which are easier to catch? And isn't April in the closed season?

  • @Neil890

    Looks much more like a Fenland Drain (Off the Old River Nene to be a little more exact, without being too exact)

    • @RobsAngling
      @RobsAngling  2 місяці тому

      This one isn’t near the Nene - There’s plenty of different styles of canal that hold tench around the country. The next video might look more like the type of canal you could have been expecting 👍

    Hey rob ! What weight was your olivet in relation to your feeder weight? U are one of a few who is really passionate & genuine, look forward to the float & quiver approach on the canal !

    • @RobsAngling
      @RobsAngling  2 місяці тому +1

      Thanks! Glad you like the video.. It won’t be long for a go on the float soon. I was using a 4 gram olivette sandwiched between a couple of float stops. Hope this helps 👍

    I had a bag of tench on a local pool. The swim was close to power lines - I can see you are close to some power lines too? Any connection?

    • @RobsAngling
      @RobsAngling  2 місяці тому

      Hi Barry, Hope you’re well. We must have both found good spots.. The power lines won’t make any different in my opinion - The camera angle made my swim there look closer than it was to the wires 👍

      @@RobsAngling That's not what our canal looks like by us... (the good ol' Shroppy) Looks more like The Fens rather than a canal. If you tried fishing maggot feeder around here, all you'd get is moidered by gudgeon, tiny perch and roach etc...not to mention the narrow boats! 🙄😩
