Probably one of my favorite parts of this 2 parter is that the writers were able to both have Tom showcase his character development, from his first encounter with Crellan (learning that the cards don't give him instant win, is how he uses them), while also having their cake and eat it and have Tom and Crellan duke it out in a final battle with Maxxor and Cromax without diminishing said character development AND ALSO showcasing the skill of both players

It showed how much Tom grew since we were first introduced to Crellen. The entire match I got the feeling from Crellen that while he sure wasn't going to go easy on Tom, in a sense he also wanted him to succeed. That fight in Kiri City was always my favorite moment in season 1. The animation was top notch awesome for flash animation especially with moments like Cromaxx running through Kiru City in seconds to the brawl between them on the castle’s balcony. The strategies between them like with Deenha taking Cromaxx out in Skeletal Springs and Tom Figuring out Ariak is Crellen’s key causing him to freak out were really good and creative.
Skeletal Springs fight is also a good callback because every other time we've seen it any creature that falls in instantly gets coded. The fact that Cromaxx not only falls in but SURVIVES for a bit shows just how tough he is and made him seem like even more of a threat.
Yes this was maybe my favorite scene in the whole show. Crellen tearing through Kiru City on all fours trying to reach Tom. Cool ass fist fight and Toms trying to heave him off the balcony to code him, only to get sent right to Pexxor Chasm. I always loved that they worked the “its now or never” line in, nice call back.

Funny thing, looking at Cromaxx and Maxxor's ACTUAL card stats, the only edge Cromaxx has on Maxxor is that Cromaxx has a little more Energy, and he resists damaging Mugic.
Maybe when Crellan scanned that location which was going through an earthquake, is when that large glob came out of the ground and caused enormous trouble for the creatures in Prexxor Chasm. Smildon said the ground shook one day and that large ooze monster came out of the ground with no real explanation, could've been why that location was scanned with an earthquake in it.
Cromaxx scared the hell out of me as a kid because on the final fight He almost hit maxxor when he was on the front gate of the entire city and shot a flame orb all the way to the center of the city and made it all the way to the center in just seconds. I cant imagine him and maxxor fighting for reals. He may even be able to beat chaor in strength alone.
I imagine Cromaxx lived a life of near constant battle, and has honed his skills accordingly. But like the message of this show i: it’s the player that brings out the full power of the creature. I doubt Cromaxx is smart enough to have enough strategy to defeat Chaor.
@@RedDragonForce2 indeed. Krellan was the most wisest of the codemasters. Him using Cromaxx shows just how powerful and great he was. After all he nearly beat Maxxor with aariac, and he stated he has beaten creatures bigger then him.
Modulation is probably one of the best Mugics that Tom has in his collection. Once you figure out what it actually does, it totally flips the entire game on its head.
I think the cost is only one monster. If you could keep reviving all monsters, you’d be in an eternal battle. That being said, I do believe Cromax only used his battle gear once prior to being revived and didn’t use it afterwards, so maybe that’s a cost??
Wel of course they could make Ariak super OP, he didn’t exist as a card at the time, and I don’t think they ever had an intention to print him into the game at all.
Make it so only monsters you opponent attacks are eligible. If you attack and fail, they can’t come back. Also, make Ariak weak enough to die to any attack.
“You scanned this place during a quake” when Tom battled code master Hotekk, Hotekk used that mugic that didnt do anything but instead was a clue to what to do when Tom beat him. What if Crelin switched to Prexxor so incase he won it would give him a hint of the Blite effecting it?
If that's the case, then Tom messed up when he won against Hotekk when he ended up messing with the truth revelation of the time travelling effect of Dranakis Threshold and it ended up getting destroyed, as well as with him & Najarin + Afjak
@@roryallen106 he didnt. The fight at prexxor chasm was a foreshadow towards the blights appearance, as smildon said that it appeared after a quake that was worse then ever before. @@ineedsleep6387 I'm wondering how it works exactly. Usually when Creatures are brought back, they don't come back with Mugician Counters. But Cromaxx had all of his.
Cromaxx was likely code master crellan's best creature which could've been why he had Ariak revive him. One other thing is smildon said one day an earthquake shook prexxor chasm & that may have been when crellan scanned that location.
No commenting on the previous part, but close call w/the lava! 0.0 And sneaky stuff from Klay & Krys. This one was great. Loved the commentary from Tom's friends & all the twists & turns. The castle town & castle itself had some nice art. Fun chat w/the Codemaster, antagonists, & w/his pals.
Why are they watching the match standing right outside? Like wouldn't it be better watching it in the cafeteria area with all the seats, tables and half a dozen screens for each fight?
From the first shot outside they were likely hanging out before tom started the match and decided to watch when the fight started. They got really into it when tom began coding krellans creatures. Apparently something thats rare in code master matches.
I think Crellen gave Tom that scan and knew about the blight, but due to the some kind of Codemaster code of conduct he couldn’t get too involved. He wanted tom to fix was he couldn’t at the time
You know people say that aryiaks revival ability is broken but I just realised its even more broken than what people say.every other time we see creatures get revived they have no mugicians but every time cromax is revived he still has all of them so not only does he get revived but he's practically always at full strength in every single way possible.
Curious why Crellan has a Kiru City scan for this fight since it benefits Overworlders the most and not the Tribeless Creatures that he specializes in.
Ya but he should have probably guessed that tom was going to use his all overworld team so it might have been better to just put a different location in.
Easily one of my favorite episodes of this series. Crellan clearly wanted Tom to win (and could barley contain his pride in Tom that he did), but he'd make sure Tom would have to fight his hardest to do it. It wasn't the end of the show, but it sure felt like the end of an important chapter in Tom's character arc
This was by far the most developed cartoon to ever comeout i know avatar was amazing and other shows but this is next level this show as a fucking vr game where your iphone is your scanner you could travel to perim get scans and fight one on one in the drones in ranked online matches virtually transforming and sees the opponent tranform virtually would be define genius
One thing I never understood about this episode: The Modulation mugic is meant to switch the elemental attacks of the battling creatures right? Towards the end of the final battle between Maxxor and Cromax, Maxxor casts Modulation to switch his attack abilities with Cromax. That green sphere looked like an earth attack to me, and I am pretty sure Cromax could already use earth attacks just like Maxxor, (judging from the fact that he used a skeletal strike in his battle with Blazer. If this is the case, Modulation should have been ineffective because both creatures could use earth attacks and nothing would be changed by the casting of that mugic. They are switching earth attacks for earth attacks. Why did Cromax lose the sphere then? it makes no sense unless you would like to argue the case that the sphere was an air attack. Timestamp is 18:37-18:53 I also realized that I may be reading WAY to far into this, but I'll post the comment anyways
From my understanding, it's probably more switching elements And attack cards too. In the real card game, we have the attack deck and since they also have attack cards, we assume there's some kind of attack deck for the creatures. So when Tom used modulation, he switched not only his elements with cromaxx, but also his attack deck to let him use those devastating attacks.
question: how did Tangeth use Chorus of Cothica and Song of revival when he only has a single mugic counter? Edit: Tangeth used both his and Tarterek's counters to play both, we see that when they transition back to the board, tarterek's mugic counter is missing.
this two parter was great I hope when they show comes back we get to see all the code masters and their more involed in the story (espically Crellan and Imthor) and I really want to know if Chaotic is the Cothica
Not a fan of the card game itself, but honestly it has the best season 1 show of card games (only below of yugioh) Also this show teaches players about the card games in general way better than others. As i said before i don’t play this game, but i really want to get Codemaster Krelin team cards or at the very least Cromaxx just for this single episode.
@@ianr.navahuber2195 Yes! I highly recommend them. Tho be wary of Vanguard G series as the show goes downhill in the middle after the original run. I also recommend the V saga as it's basically a remake that actually follows the source material, like Fullmetal Alchemist. Skip Vanguard: if, it's complete filler. And I highly recommend the upcoming Overdress as the animation was godlike, and is made by the studio who made Made in Abyss and Shield Hero. Buddyfight I do recommend, but I highly advise that you that, whatever you do, SKIP TRIPPLE D!! It's one of, if not, the WORST season in the series.
I like that things didn’t got easier for tom after he got prexxor chasm. It was something that really tested his courage, knowledge and even empathy. Since other players probably wouldn't give a shit about the blight. They would just scan the creatures and places, and goodbye. As we saw on season 2 with the players destroying locations.
Why was deehna( that fairy thing) never made into an actual card. Now that i think about it there are many cards in the show that were never cards in the actual game. Two of crellans creatures never were either
card distribution also ceased when 4kids tried to sue the creators. apparently the next season of cards was all printed and ready to be shipped, but because of the lawsuits its been just sitting in a warehouse
There’s also the Underworlders Zalvar & Thorax, the two creatures most involved with plots of inciting war with the other tribes yet never seen much later afterward. They appeared so many times during season 1 you think they would also get a card version but never.
So, we have four codemasters that we never got to see? We got to see Crellan, Hottek, and Imthor. Oh, wait did Kaz or Tom ever get to face off against Codemaster Imthor? So, that's five Codemasters we haven't seen Tom or any of his friends win against. I would like to see Clay win a Chaotic match, especially because the show says he's a great Chaotic player in that episode where Kaz was fighting him.
From what I learned is, if the show hasn't gotten cancelled, then Tom would face all the code masters. They planned on 7 seasons so that's one code master per season. Eventually towards the final seasons we would know the truth about things like the Cothica and what Chaotic really is about.
I love how Tom preaches about not needing Maxor several times in this fight, but he spent several episodes bitching about not having him, even going so far as to give up Chaotic without maxor
He already lost before so he was bound to win this one. Fun fact: prexxor chasm is actually an ancient perim location. Perim had different forms of time travel with different rules.
@@nexus5253 no prexxor chasm is from ancient perim but not in ancient perim. Most people say it's under glazer plains, which is what I believe. It can't be from ancient perim without a time travel method.
If this show ever gets revived or rebooted, I hope we get to see more of the gang battle Codemasters (and not just Tom facing them). Also get lore on how these Codemasters came about, and how they created Chaotic & found Perum.

Still waiting for the family strokes version 🥲😂
Modulation is one of the best Mugics.
Modulation is probably one of the best Mugics that Tom has in his collection. Once you figure out what it actually does, it totally flips the entire game on its head.
Sad that not exist officialy a mudolation card in the tcg game
@@YonkingDragon4 I know, I hated that it never got the chance.
It’d probably be too busted even if it just switched the attack cards in the hand.
@@nexus5253 True.
When I first watched this episode as a kid, I had nightmares of Cromax for some reason
Probably because cromax is a Savage version of maxxor
@@griffingower1883 No kidding. That's the last guy you wanna meet in a dark alley.
"Ariak may be small, but I defeat Larger creatures them Maxxor"
Got to give the little one, one for confidence. 🤣
18:19 -- I think this foreshadowed the Blight's existence in the show.
Ariak’s ability is way too overpowered. He can revive a creature over and over with full Mugicians & full energy at no cost.
I think the cost is only one monster. If you could keep reviving all monsters, you’d be in an eternal battle.
That being said, I do believe Cromax only used his battle gear once prior to being revived and didn’t use it afterwards, so maybe that’s a cost??
@@RedDragonForce2 'looks knowingly at hotekk.
That's a big if on both
If that's the case, then Tom messed up when he won against Hotekk when he ended up messing with the truth revelation of the time travelling effect of Dranakis Threshold and it ended up getting destroyed, as well as with him & Najarin + Afjak
I think Crelin didn’t no about the blite if he did prexxor chasm
would be off-limits un till the blite Was dealt with
The real question is why he would put kiru City in his location deck when he has a tribless deck and the opponent uses all overworlders.
@@roryallen106 he didnt.
The fight at prexxor chasm was a foreshadow towards the blights appearance, as smildon said that it appeared after a quake that was worse then ever before. The fight maxxor and cromaxx were in was that quake, as even krellan was confused.
But because it was only the begining it didnt appear, only after tom scanned and fought peyton it appeared.
Seeing Maxxor and Cromax just throw hands at the Castle was the highlight of the episode🔥
this is one of my favourite shows of all time man. i seriously forgot how fun and creative it really was! love that i’m rewatching it now that i’m all grown up! ❤
This is the coolest show of all time. I havnt been this hyped since i watched Blue Lock
When they bring the game back I hope they add more to the tribless creature like up.
@@ineedsleep6387 I'm wondering how it works exactly. Usually when Creatures are brought back, they don't come back with Mugician Counters. But Cromaxx had all of his.
@@ineedsleep6387 Maybe.
@@ineedsleep6387 Yeah that sounds like the right one.
Cromaxx was likely code master crellan's best creature which could've been why he had Ariak revive him. One other thing is smildon said one day an earthquake shook prexxor chasm & that may have been when crellan scanned that location.
Modulation was one of the best mugics in the show
Crellen “looks” genuinely surprised when Tom figured out that Ariak was the key to his strategy.
"Well I couldn't do it without my friends. Or my enemies?"
How ironic.
Poetic irony.
@@blueeyeddrago3540 You mean Foes?
I love that at 18:03 you can see Maxxor has one Mugic Counter!
Blink and you miss it!
Tom would proceed to never use a single Tribleless creature
even after befriending one of them.
Hard to build a team around them if tom has many loyal cards
@@itsjustvin7630loyal not really a thing in show he used tianne and and qwun with his overworlders including tangath toborn
14:23 should be something that every TCG player should keep in mind.
Best payback though. Winning with what they hoped would lose the match for him.
when the chaotic revival series comes i want an ep where Kaz Peyton and Sarah get their run back against the code masters they mentioned they lost to
No commenting on the previous part, but close call w/the lava!
They probably wanted to congratulate or support him when he came out
Or even the Codemaster matches are set on select screens.
@@randomdude259 didnt they watch Clays code matxch inside? Either way. I think they just wanted to support him when he came out
From the first shot outside they were likely hanging out before tom started the match and decided to watch when the fight started. They got really into it when tom began coding krellans creatures. Apparently something thats rare in code master matches.
Man I miss this show
One of the best matches in all seasons!
I think Crellen gave Tom that scan and knew about the blight, but due to the some kind of Codemaster code of conduct he couldn’t get too involved. He wanted tom to fix was he couldn’t at the time
Who else really liked it when crellan congratulated tom on winning the match it was like a mentor congratulating a student in training
You know people say that aryiaks revival ability is broken but I just realised its even more broken than what people say.every other time we see creatures get revived they have no mugicians but every time cromax is revived he still has all of them so not only does he get revived but he's practically always at full strength in every single way possible.
Cromaxx is dope asf I wonder what all of maxxors ancestors were like back then
Curious why Crellan has a Kiru City scan for this fight since it benefits Overworlders the most and not the Tribeless Creatures that he specializes in.
If one thinks they have the home turf, many will fall.
I thought Tribless creatures weren't a thing at the time this aired was later established when they printed his creatures
Yeah, all of Crellan's creatures are Overworlders in the show, but in the actual game, they are Tribeless.
Throwing your opponent off game. We see lots of players do this like Firefighter and even Tom used Underworld colliseum
19:14 so does this make tom the first player to code Crommax three times, or do the first two not count?
Still counting. Crommax was coded 3 times by Tom and revived by Ariak.
Vice versa however, Cromaxx can get revenge kills which also stains Toms own resources.
2:36 blazer did that like he’s spider-man
You can feel the budget stretching in this episode
BRING CHAOTIC BACK! Put the word out!
Yes!
Yes!
Hell yeah.
Timestamp is 18:37-18:53
I also realized that I may be reading WAY to far into this, but I'll post the comment anyways
@@grizzakaful I suppose that makes sense
question: how did Tangeth use Chorus of Cothica and Song of revival when he only has a single mugic counter?
Edit: Tangeth used both his and Tarterek's counters to play both, we see that when they transition back to the board, tarterek's mugic counter is missing.
17:50 that’s the only time we see them fight without element attacks
Hand to Hand Combat
The real Maxxor fought that Mipedian general earlier in the series hand to hand.
a delicious win for Tom indeed
I just wish we got more episodes like these
Feeling Awesome is the ultimate goal in life isnt it. 21:04
this two parter was great
I hope when they show comes back we get to see all the code masters and their more involed in the story (espically Crellan and Imthor) and I really want to know if Chaotic is the Cothica
Talk about a family reunion by maxsor
i wonder if we were suppose to get 7-8 seasons of this show, 1 season for each code master
17:50 the scene where Maxxor use his fists to fight Cromaxx
what an amazing battle
Not a fan of the card game itself, but honestly it has the best season 1 show of card games (only below of yugioh)
Also this show teaches players about the card games in general way better than others.
As i said before i don’t play this game, but i really want to get Codemaster Krelin team cards or at the very least Cromaxx just for this single episode.
*Laughs in Cardfight Vanguard and Future Card Buddyfight*
@@JoKoBod the card who not to be named.
@@ERenato ?
@@JoKoBod are those shows really that good? i might check them even if i never ever tocuh a vanguard card
That's smart next time I'll use the door knob
I want another season so I can see more code master matches
Crellan very clearly did not have any mugicians going into the final battle, then had TWO out of nowhere
What are you talking about? Cromax always had two Mugicians. Just watch every scene where he gets revived by Ariak onwards and pay close attention.
Awww nice. Sweet world. Too bad I will barely use the cards that was given too me or me scanning creates there. Cool.
Anyone find it funny the codemasters outfits resemble their dromes?
Why was deehna( that fairy thing) never made into an actual card. Now that i think about it there are many cards in the show that were never cards in the actual game. Two of crellans creatures never were either
I think those are the kind of cards you can only get online.
@@ThePrincessCH some cards are but alot weren't
card distribution also ceased when 4kids tried to sue the creators. apparently the next season of cards was all printed and ready to be shipped, but because of the lawsuits its been just sitting in a warehouse
One, Deehna is a genie, not a fairy. Two, they may have planned to make her at some point but never got around to it.
There’s also the Underworlders Zalvar & Thorax, the two creatures most involved with plots of inciting war with the other tribes yet never seen much later afterward. They appeared so many times during season 1 you think they would also get a card version but never.
I remember this show when I watched it on 4Kids as a kid
I had cards nd used to watch this everyday 😂😂
I loved this show.
I just realized they had some issues with the creature count at like the halfway point in the battle
If Cromaxx can make a shot miles away and cross a city in second, imagine the real Cromaxx
2:35 does that web move actually have a name?
Probably web cocoon
Can we not get a good chaotic video game? This seems like it'd be UNBELIEVABLE if dine right
Working out a script prototype for one, shadow warriors was good for it’s own reason, but this one may do better, hopefully
Great Codemaster Match with Tom and Codemaster Crellan.
There is a lot of Irony in the show
Who is Deehna’s voice actor?
This was after all that. It's called character development
Did anyone here think Tom was going to lose this one?
He already lost before so he was bound to win this one. Fun fact: prexxor chasm is actually an ancient perim location. Perim had different forms of time travel with different rules.
@@nexus5253 no prexxor chasm is from ancient perim but not in ancient perim. Most people say it's under glazer plains, which is what I believe.
It can't be from ancient perim without a time travel method.
Hope the card game comes back!
If this show ever gets revived or rebooted, I hope we get to see more of the gang battle Codemasters (and not just Tom facing them). Also get lore on how these Codemasters came about, and how they created Chaotic & found Perum.
Maxxor VS Cromaxx Face-Off 14:59
Oh hey by the way I forgot to ask does anybody know the name of the battlegear that Cromaxx had in the battles with Blazer and Dina?
I wonder was there an actual card of cromax?
Actually yes….yes there was.
Awesome episode using modulation to his advantage😅
Note how Cromaxx started at the gate to the city while Maxxor started at the stairs to the capital building? If Cromaxx was any closer, Maxxor may not have gotten the Overworld Mugician in time.
Great battle!
Maxxor vs Cromaxx was insane.
